in industrial rope access or work at heights using ropes (window cleaning, etc), the person has the same problem as a person hanging from an arrested fall since the person working is also hanging for an extended period of time on his/her climbing harness. that is why seat climbing work harnesses for industrial rope access has a wider flat webbing and padding at the waist and leg loops. i guess that could be done also on fall safety harnesses. another way to alleviate pressure rope access is having a lightweight “seat” to sit on. it’s basically an aluminum hollow seat that has webbing straps on the sides. the straps are attached to the front while the seat is on the back. position the seat on the buttocks area and adjust straps till you’re able to sit to alleviate pressure while working on rope. just giving you ideas. that was an ingenious idea by the way having to step on something to alleviate pressure. we too use foot loops to climb on ropes using ascenders…
