Cree is amazing, she is one of the most unique voices in all of animation imho. And she's had some of the most iconic roles in so many cartoons, period!!! A legend.
She also voice numbuh 5 and Cree Lincoln a.k.a numbuh 11 from Codename KND, Cleo from Clifford big red dog, Chloe Flan from Sabrina teenage witch, Valerie from Danny Phantom, Miranda from As told by Ginger, Tiff on my life as a teenage robot and Peabo from the proud family
Sure, some aren't the best, but it's not always based on skill. They need a good director as well. And time to actually do it. You can have all the skill in the world, but if your director tells you to say this, THIS way with THIS inflection, then you're stuck doing that.
Don’t step to her! She ain’t afraid to bring the hood out! That was why I loved me some her. She was like a go to, and a don’t mess with. A life coach and a sista you gotta be careful around.
There was a spinoff with her and Angelica . It was called Rugrats: Pre-School Daze . It got cancelled after 3 days and only 4 episodes aired despite being ordered for 13 episodes .
Wow, Cree Summer did an incredible job on voicing Susie Carmichael, along with Elmyra Duff from “Tiny Toon Adventures,” Kida from “Atlantis,” Numbuh 5 from “Kids Next Door,” etc.
I love how in the first time we meet Suzzie she leaves her lollipop behind to show her new friend tommy around ^^ I’m sometimes bad at comments my bad :,)
It’s funny she mentions it because it always stood out to me how the Carmichaels are such a healthy family. They listen to each other. They set healthy boundaries. The way the children are disciplined is well executed. They know how to share work. Why can’t my family be more like that?😹😭😭
The Carmichael family is the epitome of BLACK EXCELLENCE! So happy the creators went with the direction that they did with them. ✊🏾❤️ also, Cree Summer is one of my favorite voice actors.
I'm going to comment on this video while I still can (thanks to TH-cam, the comment sections on some of the other Rugrats videos on your channel have been disabled). Cree Summer is one of my favorite voice actresses, due in part to Susie Carmichael (and to a lesser extent, Elmyra Duff from Tiny Toon Adventures). Rugrats loved go above and beyond when it came to racial diversity. The show not only had two Christmas specials, but a Passover special, a Chanukah special, and a Kwanzaa special. 3:33 - I bet that was the inspiration for a certain Disney Junior show...
Susie was one of my favorite characters because she was so good and nice! This actress did a good job conveying that because her voice was so soothing.
Randy-"Remember when the realtor told us about that ancient Indian curse?" Lucy-"Mmhmm." Randy-"You don't think he's it do you?" Lucy-"Randy." Randy-"Just a thought."
Cree Summer also voiced in many characters. Among her many famous roles are in Inspector Gadget (Season 1) as Penny (a role she reprised in the Robot Chicken episode "Adoption's an Option"), Star Wars: Droids & Ewoks as Gerin (Droids), Kneeesaa a Jari Kintaka (Ewoks, Season 1), Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater as Catnip, The New Yogi Bear Show as Scruffy, Kid 'n Play as Marika, Downtown Patty, Camp Candy as Robin (Season 2), WB's Tiny Toon Adventures (1990) as Elmyra Duff (which she reprised for Pinky, Elmyra & the Brain) and Mary Melody, Aka Pella in WB's Histeria!, Susie Carmichael in Nickelodeon's Rugrats and its spin-off All Grown Up!, Soolie from Cro, Alto and Young Toon Saxaphone from Disney's Bonkers, Hyena from Disney's Gargoyles, Master Cylinder and Sheba Beboporeda from The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat, Lady MacBeth, Nanny, and Sonny in Project G.e.e.K.e.R., Princesss Kitina from Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, Jennifer Peenman, Gorgonzola, Cookie BaBoom, and Davida Steelmine from The Mask: Animated Series, Khanie from The Wacky World of Tex Avery, Vonda from Men in Black: The Series, She-Hulk from The Incredible Hulk (Season 2), Louie in Disney's Jungle Cubs, Princess from Disney's 101 Dalmations: The Series, Nefer-Tina from Mummies Alive!, Axaxerete from Disney's Hercules: The Series, Maxine "Max" Gibson, Tigress, Tayko, Dottie, Marinna Loez from WB's Batman Beyond, Chloe Flan from Sabrina: The Animated Series, Cleo the Poodle in PBS Kids' Clifford the Big Red Dog, Miranda from Nickelodeon's As Told by Ginger, Penny DeCartes and Carver's Mom from Disney's The Weekenders, Foxxy Love in Drawn Together, Dulcy the Dragon in Sonic the Hedgehog, Princess 'Kida' Kidagakash for the franchise of Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Mayor Santorini from WB's Ozzy & Drix, Peabo in Disney's The Proud Family (Season 2), Valerie Gray in Nickelodeon's Danny Phantom, Numbuh 5 in Cartoon Network's Codename: Kids Next Door, Penelope in Barbie As Rapunzel, octogenarian villain Granny May on WordGirl, Tiff, Vicky QT2, and Stephanie from Nickelodeon's My Life as a Teenage Robot, and Blackarachnia in Transformers: Animated, and many more. At the start of the 3rd season of A Different World in 1988, the cartoon series The Real Ghostbusters, then renamed Slimer! and The Real Ghostbusters episodes were expanded from their original half-hour format to an hour. The show was changed to be more youthful. Episodes had a lighter tone designed to be less serious and frightening. In these lighter episodes, Cree voiced the sweet and helpful Chilly Cooper, the neighborhood ice-cream woman and innocent love interest of Slimer.
Susie was probably my favorite character on Rugrats because she was smart, she knew how to be a good friend and she was good at putting Angelica in her place.
Very strange that they show clips from the one episode where she didn't voice Susie at the end there. That was E.G. Daily not Cree Summer. (Episode name is the last babysitter in case y'all wanna look it up)
So therefore… “The Last Babysitter” and “Angelica’s Birthday” were actually the only two Rugrats Episodes where Susie Carmichael was actually voiced by E.G. Daily instead of Cree Summer.
If i ever meet Cree Summers... i will wanna hug her and squeeze her and hold her and love her forever and ever!!! But seriously, I would hug her and not let go.
One of the reasons why Susie was one of my favorites is they showed a little girl not being a spoiled mean brat but to have parents to teach her to work hard and ask for things instead of throwing a tantrum and crying and screaming whenever she can't get her way like Angelica.
Before you go around saying that the reboot ruined Susie, I want you to know something. The decision to age her down was all within reason, and makes as much sense as thinking Cure Finale from Pretty Cure is any colour other than gold. So, first, I want to mention why this was done. A lot of people think they wanted Angelica to have more bite, but that's not true at all. If it was, why else would they have aged up Kimi? They kept Susie out of most episodes just so Angelica could get away with as much as possible. If Susie were in every episode as a toddler, she'd just snitch. A little more about the whole snitching thing: Every episode that Susie was in, starting with "The Slide", put her against Angelica. Kwanzaa was the only exception, but even if every episode was a Susie-without-Angelica episode like Kwanzaa, the show would still be boring. Worth noting, Kwanzaa could have still worked with Angelica, the reason she wasn't in it was Kwanzaa was intended as a backdoor pilot for The Carmichaels. Which didn't work as it caused as continuity error. There is only one thing that Susie being black has to do with this, and that's people thinking they made her the "black baby". She's actually the smart baby, she still just so happens to be black. Besides, the decision to make her a main character is nothing to do with her being black. The producers were like, "We love Susie, she should be in more episodes!" Thus, the de-ageing. I think this is very important. De-ageing Susie does NOT reduce her in any way. She still stands up to Angelica, in fact, the writers made ABSOLUTELY SURE to make sure her age was the only thing that changed about her. Besides, she's a lot less of a Little Miss Perfect than she used to be, so the reboot might have actually improved her. However, from what I have seen, the odds of liking Susie's new character are similar to preferring, say, Buddy Ebsen as the Tin Man to Jack Haley as the Tin Man, or Entrapta in She-Ra, Princess of Power to Entrapta in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. And the weird thing? I think Haley was much better as the Tin Man - and I think Entrapta's new character is much better - and I think the reboot improved Susie. Thank you for reading.
Cree is a great voice actress
You really do be everywhere lol
You can say that again
She voiced Cleo from Clifford The Big Red Dog, and Cupcake from the modern Pound Puppies cartoon.
And Kida from Atlantis:The Lost Empire, and Atlantis:Milo’s Return
Correction: She's one of the BEST!
And they were the only parents who didn't lose their kids
Well if you don’t include the Rugrats go wild movie then yes
@@Jinaria101 true. But that was one time and how many times did the other parents lose their kids?
Terrence Harris-Hughes
about 172? Lol
Lololol true!
Because Susie was a foil to Angelica. The producers feared that, if Susie was in the show all the time, she would ruin Angelica's plans.
Cree is amazing, she is one of the most unique voices in all of animation imho. And she's had some of the most iconic roles in so many cartoons, period!!! A legend.
I love how Susie was always fearless and ready to defend the babies from Angelica.
This woman had a voice in half the shows of my entire childhood. One of the only people who are instantly recognizable when you hear them speak.
She was also an occasional stand-in for the late great Eartha Kitt as Vexus on My Life as a Teenage Robot. Imagine having that honor on your resume.
And Elmyra from Tiny Toon Adventures
She also appeared in the model episode of Totally Spies
@@RaccoonFoot Eartha Kitt was also the voice of Yzma from The Emperor's New Groove.
And that's not even including her live action career.
*You guys have to realize if it wasn't for Cree Summer the majority of our tv childhood wouldn't have existed.*
Back when voice actors actually knew how to voice act
Sure, some aren't the best, but it's not always based on skill.
They need a good director as well. And time to actually do it.
You can have all the skill in the world, but if your director tells you to say this, THIS way with THIS inflection, then you're stuck doing that.

Cree is 50 now. Still a 👑 ❤️
Cree Summer is in her 50s and she looks like a 20 something.
Age ain’t nothing but a number.
@@blind_t2 until youre in court

I love how Suzie was the counterforce of Angelica.
I know. Every time Angelica showed up I was mad but every time Susie showed up I was soothed.
Mustn't have been soothed very often then. That's why Susie never really joined the main cast.
Why did her siblings dissapear in All grown up? Specifically her brothers.
David Wizowski Yeah, they only showed her sister.
They could have gotten their own house and got a job so they might not have time on-screen wise visited susie but they might have visited off-screen
@@werty21100 true but I dont even think there was any mention of them either.
No they were in one episode where Angelica had to stay over susie house for a week but I forgot what the episode was called
Might have been in college cus Susie was in high school then and closer to being a senior
"She was ready to throw down when necessary." (basically, every time Angelica showed up)
Don’t step to her! She ain’t afraid to bring the hood out! That was why I loved me some her. She was like a go to, and a don’t mess with. A life coach and a sista you gotta be careful around.

Cree is such a phenomenal talent oh, she's given voice to so many great characters that I grew up with
Cree Summer is absolutely amazing! She deserves all the recognition. She is one of the only black actors who played black AND white characters.
Quite diverse. Eh?
Cree Summer is soo beautiful 😍💛🌻
Agreed.
Cree is pretty much my childhood in one woman
Her and Tara strong have been friends for years
@@ACinemafanatic Cree is also married to Angelo and has two daughters.

I adore Cree's natural speaking voice
Susie was supposed to have her own show.
There was a spinoff with her and Angelica . It was called Rugrats: Pre-School Daze . It got cancelled after 3 days and only 4 episodes aired despite being ordered for 13 episodes .
Mutant X the animation in preschool daze was horrible.
Chris yeah it was they looked so creepy .
It’s almost as bad as the designs in Ginger, but shinier and creepier.
The Kwanzaa episode looks really nice in hd
“Everytime Anjelica got checked it was heaven on Earth.”
That was definitely a highlight of Suzie’s addition to the show.
And it's worth noting that in the reboot, Susie is 2 and weak to Angelica, but still keeps her in check.
susie came equipped and we didn’t even know it! just used her knowledge and her wit!
This show was way ahead of its time. We don’t even have that in 2020
