  • Chick Tee fell off the roof by accident.
The chick tried to climb over Lady's back when she rose to her feet, causing it to fall out.
Seagull chicks can be a little clumsy at times, but this was purely accidental.
Lady seemed to not notice at first, Wing started to get worried after some time, probably hearing Tee calling.
We noticed the situation some time after it had happened, hearing the worried sounds from the parents.
By going through video clips, we found out what and when it happened.
Then we had to try to do a rescue mission.
Both Wing and Lady seemed to appreciate our involvement, they actually seemed to try to help us (fortunately no yelling or attacks like Gher).
Chicks falling into that space is no good. The chicks are not able to get out by themselves and the adults are not able to land there. Chicks need help to get out.
Luckily we managed to save it and put it back on the roof.
Tee had then been off the roof for about 4 hours.
Next year there will be a little fence there, chicks falling down there two years in a row (not happening before).
But it will of course be impossible to take away all potential dangers in this area.

Another episode of 'The Gull Rescuers', I bet at the start of this season you'd have had no idea just how close and 'hands on' things were going to get! It must be so special holding these chicks and how lucky are they to have you. A little fench for next year is a good idea.
It's hard to believe the calmness on the roof compared to a few weeks ago, fantastic to see, these little darlings stand such a good chance of doing really well. Parents and chicks are looking great.
I think there'll be no doubt bonds between yourselves and Lady and Wing will have strengthened after all this, they certainly seemed to recognise what you were doing and I believe will have appreciated, and will remember, your help . (We have experienced this with birds we have helped in some way). The chicks probably will too. This should make for some lovely 'relationships' in the future.
Some excellent 'up close' footage there.
I ,of course, am still worrying about you know who but am trying to focus on the many positives to behold.

No, the script-writers for this season's series are a bit crazy regarding predictability...
They throw things on one after the other.
No hard words on Gher, but we really find the situation at the time much more relaxing and pleasureable.
But even though it seems quite harmonious and peaceful, we start every morning (and actually several times a day) counting.
Yes, because of our nice relationship to Lady and Wing, we both managed to notice Tee's little accident and we were also positively allowed to help.
Yes, holding small chicks in our hands is quite special, we don't do that normally. When we finally managed to pick him(?) up, he(?) was totally calm. We talked him(?) through the whole session, they know our voices.
We don't know what will happen next year, but we will not be sad if Lady and Wing returned, at all.
But The Footies are nice too, also the Exons and the Shegulls...
They are all friendly, trusty, lovely and polite, and they all seem to like to stay close.
Yes, it will be very, very exiting, we are already looking forward to it.
Two days ago we saw three flying chicks at the seaside.
We think Gher's chicks are still the only flying at the time.
Yesterday and today we have only seen two at the same time.
We are not certain where Gher's at.
She doesn't come to the roof anymore (luckily for Lady and Wing...).
Her chicks stayed in the garden for some days, until they left.
      We know Kid3 can fly.
Now they are either in the air or at the seaside.
We hope at least the two will do fine.
There are fewer chicks down there than we hoped for.
When they all start to use their wings, we will easier see how many.

It has been non stop drama from the start hasn't it, and it isn't over yet!
Yes I think next year should be very interesting and hopefully a lot more harmonious. You have great bonds with all those couples , the only problem I could forsee is that they may ALL want to be on the roof, it's very desirable real estate!
I am happy to hear Kid3 can fly, she certainly stands more of a chance being able to, everything crossed that all 3 make it.
I hope there will be other youngsters flying around soon, it would be such a shame if more couples haven't been successful.
We think Sammy is getting ready to leave soon, his behaviour suggests so. He usually leaves during the latter half of July , Snowy sometimes hangs around a bit longer. Yesterday they both came to eat and brought their kids, but they stayed on the roof, two healthy looking youngsters according to my partner. Not being able to see their nesting site means we don't know how many chicks they had, could be it was just the 2 or maybe they also had 3 and something happened, maybe it’s just as well where I'm concerned to not know.
I'm a bit teary every time he comes now as I know it will be goodbye soon.
