I like how by putting a circuit board in the trunk of an earth car Megatron built a tougher vehicle than most autobots. His level of confidence mixed with shoddy workmanship reminded me of Jeremy Clarkson.
After watching Transformers Animated and Prime I'm more used to the idea of the Allspark having the ability to create new transformers, but seeing Vector Sigma having that ability instead is still interesting.

You know every time I watch this scene it still makes me laugh that Rumble scared a bank robber into going straight that was real hilarious as the only thing Rumble wanted was the car.
I understand the point of the Aerialbots since very few Autobots can fly, but not the Stunticons. When you can fly, who needs to roll on a road? Maybe at first, it could confuse humans but we catch up pretty quick.
This cartoon gave us Vector Sigma, the supercomputer that gave the Transformers life. The 80s Marvel comic gave us Primus. A literal robot god that created the Transformers. Nowadays, both exist as separate entities that give Cybertronians life.
I love how the centurion droids just whooped the grey drones. And after the eenturion droids frieaking decapitated the drones, they stood their hands on hips impressed with themselves.
Rumble and Frenzy took every advantage of their humanlike size. Transformers history says there were a lot of minirobots like them at the beginning of the war, before they developed the transformation perk, but they all escaped to another planet, where they developed a different kind of transformation: rather than transforming into vehicles they kept driving them (like Rumbler and Frenzy driving cars and a trains), and transformed into the head of a robot of the size of an average autobot or decepticon, while their vehicle was transforming into their body. Rumble and Frenzy instead chose to stay on Cybertron under the protection of Soundwave.
Yeah, they seem to be close quarter combat droids. Between their fighting skills and their strong armour, they're formidable warriors. I do wonder why the Decepticons didn't simply mass produce them to overwhelm the Autobots?
Such a rush of memories comes back to me watching the original cartoon series of Transformers. This was my favorite cartoon ever when I was little. I used to have lots of these series on VHS that I watched over and over and over again.
This was the first episode of Transformers I ever saw as a kid and one of my favorites. It's funny to see Omega step on Blaster which I only just noticed today! 10:23
When I saw this episode one thing I always wondered about even though it shows where Rumble got the cars that became Dragstrip DeadEnd and MotorMaster I sure would have liked to see where he got the cars that became WildRider and BreakDown and what was really cool was seeing Vector Sigma the supercomputer that gave all life to the Transformers both Autobots and Decepticons.

This was cool how they built up some lore in this show that lasted through the various versions. It is a little weird that so many people from truck drivers to bank robbers all wear yellow construction helmets. I remember hearing in an interview that Peter Cullen explained he threw in a bit of John Wayne with his portrayal of Optimus Prime as they were still figuring out his character. You can really hear it in his line at 2:58
Man, for being thousands of years old, maybe way more, the cone heads were as stunned as my arse! And how did Rumble not crush that car under his weight?! he may be about human sized but he's still pretty beefy.
The shooting scripts for both installments of this two-parter contain several "deleted scenes" which expand greatly upon some of the more significant events in the story. In this episode: 1. "That blast" mentioned by Prime in the finished episode actually happens. 2. While the other Autobots are busy down in the tunnels, Omega Supreme battles Shockwave on the planet's surface throughout the second act of the episode. Shockwave refers to Omega as his "old enemy," and is on the losing end of the fight until he gets his hands on a "cyberbomb," which he uses to defeat Omega, leaving him very badly damaged. There is a vestigial reference to this battle in Part 2, and further scenes relating to its consequences are removed from that episode, altering the nature of its turning point quite a bit.
It goes even further back to the original TF Marvel US comic explanation of supposedly naturally occuring computers and robots. That explanation didn't really make any sense, so it fell by the wayside. So I like to think of it as just Cybertronian legend, folklore, or fairy tale. The next mechanism up was the Creation Matrix. Before we got the Autobot Matrix of Leadership in TTF:TM, we got the Creation Matrix in the comics. This was a device carried by Optimus Prime that could be used to breathe life and personality into machines. It was used to do so both in robot-made and human-made machines. In so doing, it showed us that at least some--if not all--TFs are artificial, and not natural. What's more, the Creation Matrix was treated as a sort of mystical or magical artifact or talisman, tapping into something beyond mere physical hardware and core computer programming. The animated movie showed us further that this artifact had become associated with the Autobots dynasty of leaders in particular, and that it possessed powers desirable to villainous robots. Taken with the Creation Matrix lore, this could possibly indicate that at some point in Cybertronian history, the Autobots had assumed a form of monopoly on creating new robot life. If so, this surely must have added to the Decepticons' list of grievances with the Autobots. Maybe it was even one of the Decepticons' original gripes? The key takeaway is that, whether it was indeed intended as a merely Autobot talisman or indeed as a tool for the benefit of all Cybertronian factions, the Matrix was capable of accessing something more than the physical building blocks of a laboratory or workshop, and then bringing that "something more" back and incorporating it into the hardware. It could access, download, and install cybernetic life. In the earliest issues of the comic and episodes of the cartoon, we see the Ark's systems bringing TFs back online after millions of years, after a big fight between the two robot factions had lead to a crash landing on prehistoric Earth. It is worth wondering whether every one of the TFs has survived that fight, or if some had indeed died. Given the results of the Decepticons' assault on the Autobot shuttle in TTF:TM, it's almost certain some TFs must've died in the prelude to the Cybertronians' arrival on Earth. So apparently the Ark itself had the ability to bring robots back to life. Perhaps this meant using an older copy of Cybertronian personality components? Or maybe as the robots died in the fight, the ship was able to upload a copy of their most up-to-date personality profiles and cybernetic minds into its memory banks as backups? At any rate, after the volcanic eruption of Mount St. Hilary, the Ark breathed distinctive life back into 28 or more robots. And then we saw the toon introduce the Reflector bots, and the Dinobots, and the Constructicons. Some of these were brought to life on Earth, while others were transported to Earth through the Space Bridge. S2 had more TFs show up on Earth, some with Cybertronium deficiencies, indicating they must have had Cybertronian bodies, even if their personalities had not been brought back online earlier. So their minds must have been brought back online more recently. This implies an ongoing ability on Earth to reunite robot minds and old bodies. Then the cartoon introduced the Vector Sigma supercomputer as having the ability to instill new robot life. It is a continuity glitch between the comic and the cartoon as to whether the Matrix or the supercomputer was "the" means to accomplish this. On balance, it would appear that maybe they could both create new robotic life. Or perhaps, if we give more credence eto the cartoon over the comic, the Matrix never could. Maybe the Matrix's power was restricted to containing the knowledge, wisdom, and will of the Primes, but not the power over life. If so, then maybe Vector Sigma was a means of accessing that "something more" than mere hardware and core programming instead of the Matrix? Rather than being a device for creating life, maybe VS was just a major conduit for accessing it? If that were the case, then that would leave open the possibility for other, newer devices to be constructed for accessing and retrieving new robot life in the future, even after VS's demise, and perhaps even after the destruction of Cybertron itself? It is unclear whether TFs who appear later in the cartoon (Protectobots, Sky Lynx, Predacons, Throttlebots, Doublespy, Clones, Sixchangers, etc.) were reanimated or newly created robots. This all also leaves up for interpretation and exploration just what that "something more" is. Later TF iterations have told us it is the Allspark. Perhaps it is. But did the Cybertronians of G1 know that? Is the Allspark G1 lore now?

Though it makes you wonder about continuity. They made the Dinobots on Earth without Vector Sigma, and Grimlock made the Technobots without Vector Sigma also inside Unicron's head.
The real reason is that the episodes had several writers and no story bible beyond the character personalities. So, Donald F Glut was doing one thing whilst other writers were doing their own thing
Most combiner teams whenever they debut, they would usually just randomly appear in an episode with no introduction or any form of a backstory but what i loved about the Key To Vector Sigma part 1, they showed us how the Stunticons were created and Key To Sigma part 2 also showed how the Aerialbots were made while giving us an incredible insight into how all of the Transformers gained their own personalities. This portion of season 2 also showed how important Alpha Trion was to not only the legacy of Cybertron but to all of the Autobots especially Optimus Prime
The story lines of the Transformers cartoon was never meant to make any sense... they were made to sell the toylines which I totally fell for in the 80s as a kid. God, I still love them...
Transformers Prime was the best Cartoon of the TF so far. Try that for story and also beast wars. But BW has not aged well visually. The CG looks like watching a nintendo 64 game footage. HAHA Transformers Animated imo is the funniest.

The Stuntacons and Aerialbots were some of my favorite toys. I played with them well into the 1990s. Although, it took me along time to understand the difference between Motormaster, Scourge, and Nemesis Prime.

When I saw this episode one thing I always wondered about even though it shows where Rumble got the cars that became Dragstrip DeadEnd and MotorMaster I sure would have liked to see where he got the cars that became WildRider and BreakDown and what was really cool was seeing Vector Sigma the supercomputer that gave all life to the Transformers both Autobots and Decepticons.
Rumble probably got one of them at a used car lot and the other at some random gas station while the owner was going inside trying to get gas.
I like to think he stole Breakdown from the cartoon universe’s equivalent of Jake Dalrymple :-)
Seeing how he disposed of the drivers to get Dead End and Motormaster, he must have decapitated guys to get the Ferrari and Lamborghini.

This was cool how they built up some lore in this show that lasted through the various versions. It is a little weird that so many people from truck drivers to bank robbers all wear yellow construction helmets.
I remember hearing in an interview that Peter Cullen explained he threw in a bit of John Wayne with his portrayal of Optimus Prime as they were still figuring out his character. You can really hear it in his line at 2:58

The shooting scripts for both installments of this two-parter contain several "deleted scenes" which expand greatly upon some of the more significant events in the story. In this episode:
1. "That blast" mentioned by Prime in the finished episode actually happens.
2. While the other Autobots are busy down in the tunnels, Omega Supreme battles Shockwave on the planet's surface throughout the second act of the episode. Shockwave refers to Omega as his "old enemy," and is on the losing end of the fight until he gets his hands on a "cyberbomb," which he uses to defeat Omega, leaving him very badly damaged. There is a vestigial reference to this battle in Part 2, and further scenes relating to its consequences are removed from that episode, altering the nature of its turning point quite a bit.

From Vector Sigma now to the Allspark. Transformers is truly true to its name, always having the capability for a better change.
It goes even further back to the original TF Marvel US comic explanation of supposedly naturally occuring computers and robots. That explanation didn't really make any sense, so it fell by the wayside. So I like to think of it as just Cybertronian legend, folklore, or fairy tale.
The next mechanism up was the Creation Matrix. Before we got the Autobot Matrix of Leadership in TTF:TM, we got the Creation Matrix in the comics. This was a device carried by Optimus Prime that could be used to breathe life and personality into machines. It was used to do so both in robot-made and human-made machines. In so doing, it showed us that at least some--if not all--TFs are artificial, and not natural.
What's more, the Creation Matrix was treated as a sort of mystical or magical artifact or talisman, tapping into something beyond mere physical hardware and core computer programming.
The animated movie showed us further that this artifact had become associated with the Autobots dynasty of leaders in particular, and that it possessed powers desirable to villainous robots. Taken with the Creation Matrix lore, this could possibly indicate that at some point in Cybertronian history, the Autobots had assumed a form of monopoly on creating new robot life. If so, this surely must have added to the Decepticons' list of grievances with the Autobots. Maybe it was even one of the Decepticons' original gripes?
The key takeaway is that, whether it was indeed intended as a merely Autobot talisman or indeed as a tool for the benefit of all Cybertronian factions, the Matrix was capable of accessing something more than the physical building blocks of a laboratory or workshop, and then bringing that "something more" back and incorporating it into the hardware. It could access, download, and install cybernetic life.
In the earliest issues of the comic and episodes of the cartoon, we see the Ark's systems bringing TFs back online after millions of years, after a big fight between the two robot factions had lead to a crash landing on prehistoric Earth. It is worth wondering whether every one of the TFs has survived that fight, or if some had indeed died. Given the results of the Decepticons' assault on the Autobot shuttle in TTF:TM, it's almost certain some TFs must've died in the prelude to the Cybertronians' arrival on Earth. So apparently the Ark itself had the ability to bring robots back to life. Perhaps this meant using an older copy of Cybertronian personality components? Or maybe as the robots died in the fight, the ship was able to upload a copy of their most up-to-date personality profiles and cybernetic minds into its memory banks as backups? At any rate, after the volcanic eruption of Mount St. Hilary, the Ark breathed distinctive life back into 28 or more robots.
And then we saw the toon introduce the Reflector bots, and the Dinobots, and the Constructicons. Some of these were brought to life on Earth, while others were transported to Earth through the Space Bridge.
S2 had more TFs show up on Earth, some with Cybertronium deficiencies, indicating they must have had Cybertronian bodies, even if their personalities had not been brought back online earlier. So their minds must have been brought back online more recently. This implies an ongoing ability on Earth to reunite robot minds and old bodies.
Then the cartoon introduced the Vector Sigma supercomputer as having the ability to instill new robot life. It is a continuity glitch between the comic and the cartoon as to whether the Matrix or the supercomputer was "the" means to accomplish this. On balance, it would appear that maybe they could both create new robotic life. Or perhaps, if we give more credence eto the cartoon over the comic, the Matrix never could. Maybe the Matrix's power was restricted to containing the knowledge, wisdom, and will of the Primes, but not the power over life.
If so, then maybe Vector Sigma was a means of accessing that "something more" than mere hardware and core programming instead of the Matrix? Rather than being a device for creating life, maybe VS was just a major conduit for accessing it?
If that were the case, then that would leave open the possibility for other, newer devices to be constructed for accessing and retrieving new robot life in the future, even after VS's demise, and perhaps even after the destruction of Cybertron itself?
It is unclear whether TFs who appear later in the cartoon (Protectobots, Sky Lynx, Predacons, Throttlebots, Doublespy, Clones, Sixchangers, etc.) were reanimated or newly created robots.
This all also leaves up for interpretation and exploration just what that "something more" is. Later TF iterations have told us it is the Allspark. Perhaps it is. But did the Cybertronians of G1 know that? Is the Allspark G1 lore now?
Those drones really gave those reactivated robots a serious beating. 😳
Rumble has done the story mode on GTA an now he is just filling his garage up with all the car he likes :)

Though it makes you wonder about continuity. They made the Dinobots on Earth without Vector Sigma, and Grimlock made the Technobots without Vector Sigma also inside Unicron's head.
The real reason is that the episodes had several writers and no story bible beyond the character personalities. So, Donald F Glut was doing one thing whilst other writers were doing their own thing

Most combiner teams whenever they debut, they would usually just randomly appear in an episode with no introduction or any form of a backstory but what i loved about the Key To Vector Sigma part 1, they showed us how the Stunticons were created and Key To Sigma part 2 also showed how the Aerialbots were made while giving us an incredible insight into how all of the Transformers gained their own personalities. This portion of season 2 also showed how important Alpha Trion was to not only the legacy of Cybertron but to all of the Autobots especially Optimus Prime
The story lines of the Transformers cartoon was never meant to make any sense... they were made to sell the toylines which I totally fell for in the 80s as a kid. God, I still love them...
Transformers Prime was the best Cartoon of the TF so far. Try that for story and also beast wars. But BW has not aged well visually. The CG looks like watching a nintendo 64 game footage. HAHA Transformers Animated imo is the funniest.

The Stuntacons and Aerialbots were some of my favorite toys. I played with them well into the 1990s.
Although, it took me along time to understand the difference between Motormaster, Scourge, and Nemesis Prime.
Question: If they need Vector Sigma to give new Transformers personalities, how were the Dinobots able to already have their own during season 1?
