I used to live across from launch pads 39A and 39B in Titusville when the shuttles were still in use...it sure made it easier to catch a launch after several scrubs! I hope you had a great time!

We went to Kennedy Space Center last year and loved it! There is so much to see and learn there. There was no launch while there, but it was fun to see the machine crawling along the path that day. Years ago you could walk more out where the buses take you, I think there is heightened security now. Great video - loving the Thousand Trails/Encore membership plan you are using - we may do that as newbies who love Florida. Thanks for all you do to share your adventures.

There is not alot to check out over here except Fort DeSoto, Dali Museum, or the beaches but if you get over this way maybe we could do lunch. Thanks for another outstanding video Eric!

Bummer that they scrubbed the launch again, but that tends to happen a lot. When I lived in Melbourne, FL it was easy to see any successful launch. I got to see a couple shuttles launch, and one of them at night, which was the coolest one! Also had a Titan rocket explode a few miles above us once, too. Shook the whole house!

hey eric, i like kennedy space center, it is a bit expensive to get in but it's worth it to see at least once, imo. as far as watching launches, you can do that for free. my favorite spot is to park along 401 in port canaveral. then u can walk to the beach and see the launch pads north across the water. no fee, just get there early enough to get a spot to park so you don't have to walk to far to the shore.

You can watch for free from a causeway or a beach. One place people watch is from Jetty Park in Port Canaveral. The park that is mostly a campground, Manatee Landing in Titusville, is a good viewing place, or any publicly accessible place with a clear view of the open sky. Back in the 50s, we saw them from Cocoa Beach, and we used to also see them from our den in our house in Eau Gallie (Melbourne). We'd see a light going up, then run out to our front yard to watch it until it got too far away. We saw them when we were at the drive-in, watching movies, and at the beach in Melbourne Beach, about 37 miles south of the Cape.

Wet tea bags or a cloth dipped in strong steeped tea is very good for eye infections and a heck of a lot cheaper than going to the Dr. The tannic acid helps sooth and clear the infection. It worked very well for us. It's what we used way back when. It's good for both people and animals.

@Nomadic Fanatic - Hey Eric. Glad you enjoyed Kennedy Space Center. I did that years ago and loved it. It is on my list for a re-do. You barely scratched the surface in this video. The 1968 Apollo Launch mach up was so cool because I watched it on live TV so this was the other side. The rocket garden was amazing and there is no way words can describe the Saturn V enormity. Then years later I did Johnson Space Flight Center in Houston "Houston, we have a problem" Also interesting and they have an Apollo launch mach up too. Different rockets on display but not as many events and no bus tour that I remember.

Eric, When I was 11 I took a field trip to the Cape and got to see the capsule they went to the Moon with. Did you notice seething? At the time I was 4 foot 9. The hatch was so small that at my size I would have had a tough time getting through without a back pack. Think about it.

If you haven’t yet, on your journeys across the states. Make a plan to hit up Houston Tx and visit the Johnson Space center. It will complete your experience. Tour the training facility and mission control. Also the 747 that carried the space shuttle is there with the training space shuttle attached. You will be able to experience the shuttle in its entirety, get inside the cargo bay be inches away from the cockpit. Tour the 747 from top to bottom. It is well worth the stop if your in the area of Houston. Defiantly would complete your experience!

Instead of replacing the bumper go to Home Depot and get a piece of 4" or 6" (depending on the ends on your hose) PVC pipe about 6' long. Put a cap on one end and a screw on cap on the other end. You can mount it on top of or below your bump. Now you have a spot for the drain hose.

Sorry you missed the launch. Sorry to hear about your eye. Constant infection could be high blood sugars. Please check(very easy)

Damn, Eric. I was just there a couple months ago. Did very similar video of the Space Center. I could’ve hooked you up with free parking right next to the beach!

Thanks for the launch video even if it wasn’t the actual launch. Wait?? That didn’t sound right. Anyway enjoyed seeing a launch. Sorry your luck is about the same as far as missing things. Hope the eye problem continues to improve, I’m sure it will. Take Care. Eric. Chin scratches for Jax👍👍

    Very cool museum.
BTW, Traveling Robert has a very nice video of the launch on his channel. He was at the friends and family observation spot.

The shuttle underside has individually numbered ceremic tiles that get replaced after every launch
