Long Beach Washington is known for the longest beach in the PNW but also is the home of the Kite Museum. It is only fitting that on those extra long beaches they celebrate the very kites which are honored within their museum through the Washington International Kite Festival. Today we are checking out all of the kites and bright colors at a unique day at the beach.

Question of the day: What is your favorite kite in the video?
My favorite is always the brightly colored spinning tubes.
Two: the octopus 🐙 and the skeleton.

I loved the whale but they are all amazing. I cannot imagine ever seeing anything as awesome as this.
It was so neat and every three or four seconds you would notice something different that you had Miss before. The colors were so brilliant it was amazing

No problem! As soon as I saw the sign I knew we had to go but I didn’t know until we walked down the way what exactly was happening and then all of a sudden boom all of the colorful kites so beautiful

Thank you for this video. I love the enthusiasm and I am glad it did bring you joy. I was there. The big kite with the green tenticles is a cuttlefish and the pink, black and white stingray are my kites. It would be nice you go again in August. It is usually the third week in August.
Thank you so much for this information we just happened upon it because we were in the area and wanted to go eat at the restaurant there that has the Australian theme. It was very good and we noticed that the crowds around town were huge so we try to figure out exactly why I noticed that they were kites. It was the most pleasant and amazing surprise ever the colors painted the sky, in ways that we could not have anticipated and it was fabulous. I’m not sure if we will be back in that area in August but if we are, we will definitely try to come.
Greetings from the PNW! Just found your video after going to WSIKF this year, my daughter absolutely loves it and wants to watch on repeat. Just thought i would give you a heads up as a kite flyer myself. The reason the large kite area is roped off is not because they are worried about you tangling things up it's a legitimate safety concern. Many of those kites are up there using 500-1000lb test line so if you get caught up in it losing a limb or worse is not out of the question. There is a lot of force being held by those lines. Also, i hope you do make it back again at some point and you should experience the night fly if you do. It is absolutely amazing seeing the light up night kites.

I have to tease you about how many times you have said epic and best day ever while in the Pacific Northwest. You are right. I love it! We stumbled on a kite festival about 20 yrs ago in Newport or Lincoln City. It was very epic and awesome when you are in a hotel room with balcony right in the middle. It's been quite a while since I have heard anything about it. I believe there is a huge sand castle festival there in Long Beach. Time to start a list for your next adventure up here.

Awesome find, especially just happening upon it like that! I used to love flying kites as a kid, but haven’t taken one to the air in at least forty years. (Why yes, I am getting old. Turned 50 today!) Can’t wait to get out on the road!
The road often surprises me with what I find along the way but this really was top notch!!

They do this event every year I personally have never been to it. I have been to the kite museum it's amazing. I love Long Beach Washington I go there at least 2×s a year. Oh btw the beach is also a highway the speed limit is 25mph

I love our Beach ! We dont have the longest beach in the world as the sign up front says ! but we do have the Largest and Longest Beach in the world you can drive on ! I have been flying Kites on this beach for 28 years and have loved it dearly ! Penny Jamison my special half who just passed away made Kites for us to fly ! TY for posting our Festival ! You made this old man smile , See you next August !
