"You killed the saint in me, how dare you martyr me!" Is the line near the end.
If you pay attention away the beginning the young girl and old lady are wearing the same clothes. At one point one shakes her head and transforms into the other lovely signifying the passing of time. Also if you watch how she interacts with him it's almost reverent or worship. like she's got him on a pedestal.
I think there is a less literal way of seeing the line "ive never killed myself to save my soul" to me that reads as as never changed myself to fit in or sell albums. This lead to them being worshipped as heroes in the industry. Then when they did make changes they were accused of doing it for sales.

@@strife10301 it's actually means denying yourself and killing your old self ( meaning being born again) when corey says " I'll never kill myself to save my soul " he"s pretty much saying he won't give himself up to religion and or God, and won't deny himself , so ya it's the opposite of what christianity teaches and the bible, maybe in this case is what he's saying .
@@BrownGuyGaming91 hmm nice interpretation, it seems very likely. it's not the first time Corey incorporates God or the Gods in his lyrics. that's what I based my theory on. I wouldn't say he's completely atheist according to the interviews when Paul died but who knows, it's subjective
I thought the younger lady was supposed to signify his ex and the old woman was supposed to signify Corey's grandmother...what I heard

It's always funny to me when people don't realize that they have a DJ. Sid is not quite an original member, but pretty damn close. All the scratching you hear in any of their songs is done by him. Your right it's about life. His upbringing, religion, depression, recently divorce. Suicide attempts in the past. The singer went through a depression he says it cost him his marriage, now that his been sober for several years this recent divorce he experience the pain, but is greatful he went through without suicidal thoughts like he did in the past whenever he was in pain. Hope that made sense.

"I'll never kill myself to save my soul." I read this song was about depression amongst band members, or a single band member, the main singer. I assume he means he'd never kill himself to safe himself from suffering the depression. "I was gone but how was I to know? I didn't come this far to sink so low." I think this means it's hard for most to know they have a problem.. or maybe hard to admit it to yourself. And maybe he didn't come so far or progress maybe mentally just to sink so low, maybe to sink back into a depressive state, or into self-harm from depression. "I'm finally holding on to letting go" I think means he's finally getting a grip on letting go of depression. Leaving it behind. That was on Genius. However, there are also very clear spiritual references in here. The song has multiple meanings. I loved your reaction. You have such a great relationship. 😁

for over 25 yrs man and im only 41, its 4pm and im only 10 in... friends family and neighbours dont have a clue 'cause i come across as sober (no slur, no stagger)... always had food in the fridge for the kids, spent a lot of time time on the swings and camping and always paid my bills... they call me functional... if they only knew the demons, especially when on morphine and oxys too... you keep those lips above water, man... 1 day at a time is too much time, hour by hour is the reality and i wish i could say it will get better/easier... it does for short periods and i have had a few sober years through it all, but i guess all i can say is try to stay functional at the least, sober at best and try to find things that eat up those hours in between... only my experience dude... others are different but i wish the best for you... if you ever put it down, dont ever pick it up again... i try not to think if it as hell, so much as purgatory, because i hope it isnt eternal... problem is, if you got hooked once, it will be for as long as you live... sorry i dont have better words for you, (my) reality is the best i can do... but you are not me , so maybe true sucess?!?
