We created the Independent Surfer in 2020 as a tool to share our knowledge about surfing, in the hope that it would help people progress faster than they would otherwise. In 2022, we started sharing our knowledge through Instagram and had an overwhelming response with our follower count growing by 100,000 followers in just one month! It really has been an honor to teach thousands of surfers how to surf around the world and share progress and experiences with each and every one of you! In March 2023, we hosted our first ever surf retreat under the Independent Surfer name and boy was it a smash hit.
Our Surf Camp location was hosted by the luxurious Mandla Resort on the empty beaches of El Transito, Nicaragua. We hosted a series of surf retreats, catering to beginners, intermediates and advanced surfers, over the course of a month. Our luxurious surf retreats boast a packed schedule, dedicated to your surf progress. Two guided surf sessions per day, daily theory classes, daily video review and yoga and so much more! Our beginner and intermediate surf camp schedule is the key to our students success.
Our head instructor and founder, Jordan Ball, has perfected and curated a one-of-a-kind surf retreat schedule over the last 10 years that combines a series of technical, conceptual theory classes with video analysis sessions. The combination of these two coaching tools in a structured format creates a goal smashing bonanza. The question at these retreats is not about whether or not you will progress, but rather, how much you will progress!
We host retreats in various remote locations all around the world! Our goal when curating a surf retreat is to find lesser known, uncrowded waves in semi-remote locations with luxurious accommodations.
