SEADOO Spark On Water Review

  • This is my personal opinion regarding the Sea-Doo spark three up. This demo was done on new Hogan lake in Valley Springs California. This particular model has the IBR, and HO (High Output) option. You will see the visual difference between the 60 and 90 hp modes. This is my personal review of these machines, I received no promotional incentives from Sea Doo regarding this video.

    One of the biggest issues with the Spark is getting access to the engine to do maintenance. The easiest way to do anything, ultimately, is to take the top section off. After you've done it a couple times it becomes pretty simple BUT you are still left with one problem and that is that the wiring harness is only long enough to be able to lift it about a foot and still be able to turn the engine over for things like changing the oil or fogging the engine for winter storage. I wished that Seadoo would have considered this and made an extension cable so that I could plug it into harness and give more room. My wish came true recently when I found a company in CT (Reliable Tuning LLC) that makes a 15 foot maintenance harness cable for $85.00. Now I can take the entire top off and put it on the floor, plug the harness extension in and still run the engine. Has made my life so much easier.

    Good video. I bought two of the 90hp 2 ups a few years ago and really like them especially the fact that they are composite. They are light, you don't have to worry about scratching the hulls like you do on a glass hull and really durable. Truth is 50mph is more than fast enough and because they are so light you can toss them around much easier than any other jet ski I've ever ridden. The only complaint I have about them is maintenance. To do any sort of maintenance you have to take the top off. Yes, supposedly you can access some of the stuff with the top on but truth be told there is so little room to work with that removing the top is a lot easier. I've done it so many times now it takes me about 10 minutes to pull it.

      I unfortunately have not had mine out this summer and the batteries have since died. Not sure if I’m going to be able to recover them by charging them or if I’m going to have to replace them. I am not looking forward to having to remove the top from the bottom but I’m sure like anything else the more you do it the better you get. Thanks again for watching enjoy your summer!

      @@brandonpekarek8032 Sounds like you're having the same type of summer I am. Neither of mine have hit the water yet and July is almost over. Bums me out. The batteries can be removed without pulling the top. It's tight but you should be able to stretch the rubber battery strap and get them out. Getting them back in is pretty simple. Putting the hold down strap back on however isn't. Good luck

      @richmac918 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@charlieboudreau5172 Mine are holding up well with nothing other than annual oil changes. We've had a really disappointing summer here in the NE with almost the entire month of July being a wash out. Have only put 6 hours on them so far this season. Truth be told, with so little use I wish I had just left them covered and written them off till next year. Now I'll have to go back and winterize them again in a month or so. Certainly not worth it.

    Rode a Spark today and it felt like a more stable but lighter XP. I've own several XP's; 95, 96, 99 LE and an 03 XP DI. This thing felt just like an XP only more stable...XP hulls are known for being quite a bit narrower. I see these rich boys with their daddy bought RXP's and they sit on forums and on TH-cam videos telling Spark owners that their PWC's are shit but you go to their channel and all they know how to do is go fast in a straight line but Spark owners are thrashing theirs around and having fun. They're so much fun, very agile and a pretty damn good deal. I was speaking with the owner about the Polytec hull and he said his son accidentally slammed the thing into an unprotected wooden dock and while his son got banged up, the hull had just a very small scratch that buffed out.

    • @brandonpekarek8032
      @brandonpekarek8032  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could not agree with you more. I too have owned XP and I must say that was a very unstable ski. These are very light and very stable and super fun to thrash around. Your absolutely right about the RXP guys it's cool to go fast in a straight line if that's what your into, I personally enjoy throwing the ski around and having s good time on the water. does the 2up 90 hp version have 90 hp at all times or just in sport mode?

    • @brandonpekarek8032
      @brandonpekarek8032  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I’m not too sure about this question. I do not know if you buy the 2 up high output if it stays in sport mode all the time. I would assume it would be like my 3 up where it gives you the option to go into both modes. The high output is just a flash of the computer which opens up the governor on the motor. Basically all the motors have 90 HP but they flash the cpu and govern it which is what I’ve been told. The HO option will cost you close to $1000-$2000 more depending on the dealer, however if you do it online you can do it for a couple of hundred dollars and there are TH-cam videos on how to remove the computer. As I mentioned it will void your warranty so those are things to take into consideration. I prefer the three seater as it’s a little bit bigger ski the two-seater for me being a bigger guy can feel small at times. Maybe it would be different if I had the high output on it, Which is something I plan on doing here real soon now that I’m out of my warranty. Hope this helps!

      Reel Addiction thanks man. I had it out this past Sunday. Some of the most fun I’ve had in a very long time. Glad I made the purchase. Keep the videos up.

      @@brandonpekarek8032 one of these days I'll get one. Still rocking a 2 stroke wave raider but the spark is the only thing that seems to be similar in spirit. Exr is cool but still a little big. Never rode a seadoo

    I have a 2021 spark and it won’t go into sport mode. I did exactly as you did in the video and held the center red button and it does nothing. I heard there is a trainer key that doesn’t let you go into sport mode. Is that true? Think I might bring it to the dealer soon:(

    • @brandonpekarek8032

      Thank you for watching the video, so if yours is not going into sport mode there’s two possibilities as to why. The first would be the ski is not equipped with sport mode because it is an added option so be sure your ski has that option installed, secondly it could very well be the training key the way to tell the difference is the training key is usually green and regular key is usually yellow. If you have a training key on it will limit your speed and RPMs this is to teach younger kids how to ride the ski without going too fast. Hopefully these answer your questions double check everything prior to taking it to the dealer or they will charge you for nothing.
