Cheers Arthur. Was a great battle! You gave me nothing. I think I was very lucky to get away with the LB early in my innings (in this video). Keep an eye out for part 2. Would love to hear your thoughts on that video as well!
Cricket Mentoring- Online coaching, tips & advice yea very lucky with that lb! but that's middlesex county league for you where the standard is good but umpires are rubbish. and yea i like a good battle. after that rocket of a drive no way you was going to get another half volley! and yea can't wait to see part 2 very interesting stuff.
Haha fair enough. Didn't give me anything near a half volley after that one. Have you seen all the comments about your action looking like Rabada? Some people thought you were him.
Cricket Mentoring- Online coaching, tips & advice yea i saw it. interesting I've never thought i had a run up or action like rabada. but yea I'll take that! I'll comment on what i was thinking as worked through each ball in the next vid. 👍🏾
Absolutely loved the battle between the two of y'all. Great value and very unique to know what's going on in the head of the batsman. The lesson is, even the best are nervous when they first take the crease. Great video 🔥✌️ and great cricket!
The whole level of discourse throughout the afternoon seemed fairly polite. I was expecting a little banter towards the aussie who was talking to himself!
This is INCREDIBLE. As a fellow opener it's priceless hearing this self talk mate. Would love to see this adapted to international cricket one day.. more pls
Cheers mate. Don't know if it'll get to international level as the players need to be incredibly focused and in their bubble. I felt like it kept me focused though so would love to do it again when possible.
I completely agree that this is the best content you've put out so far. If you could do some of this during your on-season at Melville it would be great. It's both reassuring and educational to hear the parity in the thoughts that you go through and my experiences on a Saturday. More more more. p.s. Great cover drives.
If wearing a mic during a Melville game would be considered bad by your teammates, perhaps a video of you batting from the boundary (like the footage in this video) and a talk over from you explaining what was going on, what you were thinking, what you did well and why, would be great. I find the videos where you are batting in the nets are the most entertaining and informative, but games would be even better.
Looks like a very hard and dry pitch. Could begin to crack 2nd innings especially with the 40 degrees heat. Spin could come into play too with the bowlers run off leaving some rough patches outside leg. Definitely a cracking day to play cricket
I used to play cricket at secondary school but haven’t watched or played it in about 6/7 years so not a massive cricket fan but I found this very interesting. Looking forward to part 2! Thank you!
@@cricketmentoring yup, as a young aspiring cricketer im so glad i found this channel and this video.its so nice seeing someone experienced talk their way through an innings and i hope u will do videos like this one in the future.
MKRM27 so sad you have nothing better to do with your life than pull me up on this aha how about you do something with your life and stop being a petty in TH-cam comments from weeks ago weirdo
This is brilliant! Popped up on my recommended videos and had to click. You're right - when I was younger I would've loved to have seen this! Top stuff.
Hey dude, i really enjoyed this video it was great to watch and see what and how you go about your batting. cant wait for part 2 next week ive been playing cricket for 20yrs i can really relate to how you went about it fantastic work.
Cheers Richie. That's what we're about. Please subscribe if you haven't already and check out some of our other videos which also talk a lot about the mental side of the game
Been hoping you was going to make this sort of video, quality Scolls keep it up would be nice to see a first grade version of this in the Oz season in October.
Def out LBW. Head fell across and your front leg followed. Super lucky on that one. Easy to feel flat footed in England - waiting for the ball to come on.
Really good video.....interesting to watch and listen. I'm an opening batsmen but have been out of the game for 3 years due to illnesses, just back into it now and have hit 20, 21, 18 then 22 last 4 innings but when I'm getting to this comfort stage it's like I have forgot how to push on. These innings have all been have slow and well constructed which is how I bat! So a video like this is really helpful gives a look from another perspective! 👍
Really cool hearing your thought processes, they don't half sound familiar from my playing days! Mine would have been "there's a gap between those trees, get hold of one one hard and flat and I can put a dent in that BMW!" ;-) :-)
Hey Tommy I loved the commentary, I just started playing cricket In Alice and I can’t control my nerves when batting I though I was going mad... but listening to your thought has made me feel a ton better. From one of your old NTIS brothers 🤙🏽
I’m glad it’s not just me that feels weird wearing spikes to bat in the UK at the moment 😂also it’s reassured me that me getting nervous is totally normal! Great video once again Tom
No worries Bethan! Glad it helped. Getting nervous is 100% normal. The spikes thing was that I don't normally have spikes in the back part of my shoes so that's what felt weird..
Cricket Mentoring- Online coaching, tips & advice Yeah it was really interesting to see what you do at the crease. Were any personal milestones reached?😉
Cricket Mentoring- Online coaching, tips & advice what’s your thoughts on was it chapels rule on the first 30 balls to play in the V? Obviously your game plan is if it’s in your zone you go for it no matter what
Great content Scolls! You were as nervous as me during those first couple of hits. I wish back in India, we had a few green wickets. Playing spin the entire day on a dusty track gets pretty frustrating at times.
I watched this video before a game and i went on to score 28 off 20 not out. It was my best score ever. I'm more of a bowler. Thanks so much Cricket Mentoring
Great content mate, got a few ex teammates head down to the Middlesex prem from up here in the Yorkshire prem.....great to hear what a batsman is thinking during his innings. Seen as I’m a solid keeper number 9 😂😂
Hi @Tom, need your input on the time frame 18:14. what happened and why you missed that ball. I often get LBW in those balls. Could you please tell me what needed to be changed for not to get out. You did not tell anything about that ball how it felt after the delivery from bowlers hand etc.
Hi mate. I missed it because my head fell across to the off side and therefore my leg got across to off stump which meant I had to play around my pad. If my head was 'stiller' at release I would have been able to move at the ball instead of across... Hope that helps mate. We will teach this sort of thing in our online academy once it's launched..
Just like to say been watching your content for a few weeks now. No realy benn coached for at least 8 years played for yorkshire 2nds when 19 20. Havent score a 50 in the league for 2 years due to not be able to control my emotions when batting yesterday I score 56 of 57 6 4s and 2 6s. Thats one green wicket! Is that artificial or natural turf??? Also, I love the way you reset yourself after each ball. I am never able to do that while batting or bowling. Need some practice!

"I wonder if these blokes know I'm talking to myself" 😂😂😂
Is this the batman
"He's good at getting a single off the last ball." Comedy gold... If it were me it would have not been so polite.
Haha tried to be polite about it!

Thanks mate! Hope to do it more in the future
Nice vid mate! That first bowlers action looks very similar to Rabada
Fergus Martin so true mate
Yeah you're right. Very observant. He was a good bowler!
Run up looks similar to Rabada But his action is like Ngidi
I was watching the whole time thinking it was Rabada
I Thought That It Was Rabada That He First Faced 😂
Looks like a very hard and dry pitch. Could begin to crack 2nd innings especially with the 40 degrees heat. Spin could come into play too with the bowlers run off leaving some rough patches outside leg. Definitely a cracking day to play cricket
It was dry undernneath. Wasn't quite 40 degrees though so it held together ok..

Cheers Daniel. Glad you enjoyed it mate! Part 2 is already published (if you haven't seen it, the link is in the description of this video).
By far the best bit of content you have made
Cheers Charlie. I thought people would enjoy it. Helped that the straight boundaries were really short so could capture a good angle

Charlie Holtham It’s a video, not content. This isn’t a social media marketing agency bean bag!
MKRM27 so sad you have nothing better to do with your life than pull me up on this aha how about you do something with your life and stop being a petty in TH-cam comments from weeks ago weirdo
MKRM27 a video is content 🤷♂️
I use to talk to myself the exact same way. Always good to keep your head focused and reevaluating every delivery to stay on task.
7:20 Lol shoutout to that fielder who flicks the ball up
Zadkovich Raj jeez that was cleeean
compared to me when batting "yer i'll smack this bloke to the carpark" and then your off stump's gone flying hahahahahahah
Haha you might need to change what you say to yourself?
Cricket Mentoring- Online coaching, tips & advice yer I reckon now I’ve watched this video 👍🏼
Nothing wrong with that mate 😂
Sounds like me
That is literally me when I bat
You are sir a legend..

Thanks Peter. Appreciate your comment and support :)
This is very helpful for a person that struggles a bit at batting like myself!
Nice. Like how you focus on each delivery class mate. Also like how you know your scoring areas from early an also asses the game
glad u got to play with them again...i wish the best for u tom!! Stay positive
Thanks mate. Appreciate it
Enjoyed watching that, something completely different teaching the mental aspect of batting and not just the technical
Cheers Richie. That's what we're about. Please subscribe if you haven't already and check out some of our other videos which also talk a lot about the mental side of the game

I can't believe the outfield looked so dry.

Good to see how you switch off at the non strikers end, also how you never got frustrated when your partner kept pinching the strike.
