      Cheers Arthur. Was a great battle! You gave me nothing. I think I was very lucky to get away with the LB early in my innings (in this video). Keep an eye out for part 2. Would love to hear your thoughts on that video as well!

      Cricket Mentoring- Online coaching, tips & advice yea very lucky with that lb! but that's middlesex county league for you where the standard is good but umpires are rubbish. and yea i like a good battle. after that rocket of a drive no way you was going to get another half volley! and yea can't wait to see part 2 very interesting stuff.

    • @cricketmentoring
      @cricketmentoring  6 ปีที่แล้ว +56

      Haha fair enough. Didn't give me anything near a half volley after that one. Have you seen all the comments about your action looking like Rabada? Some people thought you were him.

    • @arthurgeorge378
      @arthurgeorge378 6 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      Cricket Mentoring- Online coaching, tips & advice yea i saw it. interesting I've never thought i had a run up or action like rabada. but yea I'll take that! I'll comment on what i was thinking as worked through each ball in the next vid. 👍🏾

      Absolutely loved the battle between the two of y'all. Great value and very unique to know what's going on in the head of the batsman. The lesson is, even the best are nervous when they first take the crease. Great video 🔥✌️ and great cricket!

      Cheers mate. Don't know if it'll get to international level as the players need to be incredibly focused and in their bubble. I felt like it kept me focused though so would love to do it again when possible.

    I completely agree that this is the best content you've put out so far. If you could do some of this during your on-season at Melville it would be great. It's both reassuring and educational to hear the parity in the thoughts that you go through and my experiences on a Saturday. More more more. p.s. Great cover drives.

    • @Guy_6397
      @Guy_6397 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If wearing a mic during a Melville game would be considered bad by your teammates, perhaps a video of you batting from the boundary (like the footage in this video) and a talk over from you explaining what was going on, what you were thinking, what you did well and why, would be great. I find the videos where you are batting in the nets are the most entertaining and informative, but games would be even better.

    Looks like a very hard and dry pitch. Could begin to crack 2nd innings especially with the 40 degrees heat. Spin could come into play too with the bowlers run off leaving some rough patches outside leg. Definitely a cracking day to play cricket

    Really good video.....interesting to watch and listen. I'm an opening batsmen but have been out of the game for 3 years due to illnesses, just back into it now and have hit 20, 21, 18 then 22 last 4 innings but when I'm getting to this comfort stage it's like I have forgot how to push on. These innings have all been have slow and well constructed which is how I bat! So a video like this is really helpful gives a look from another perspective! 👍

    Good to see how you switch off at the non strikers end, also how you never got frustrated when your partner kept pinching the strike.

    Thats one green wicket! Is that artificial or natural turf???
    Also, I love the way you reset yourself after each ball. I am never able to do that while batting or bowling. Need some practice!

    yo, im 16 and now playing 1s / 2s club cricket in kent i was wondering if anything outside off thats not a half volley should i be leaving (well clear of the stumps) , as one of my best shots is the little late guide down behind point which i am confident playing even off balls that may be too full to get back to. Even though i know it is a dangerous shot to play i still try it.

    • @paulw6183
      @paulw6183 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The higher up you get through the levels you'll need to work out your scoring shots as rank bad balls are hard to come by, you will need to be able to pick up runs all around the wicket though.

  • @farood5
    @farood5 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would you recommend talking through every ball as you are doing here as the danger is over analysing each bowler and not playing as you would do in a net practice very relaxed ? Btw looking back at the lbw shout what's your opinion on it now . Freezing it at point of impact could you have been in a better position with your front foot pointing more straight ? Keen to hear your thoughts . The video is highly appreciated :)

    I'm an 18 Yr old opener and ngl I find it rlly hard to talk to myself like this,even tho I think it. I prefer to stay and bat within my own bubble, whilst communicating with my partner. Was good to see it in action tho, keep up the good work👏🏼👍🏼

    Hi @Tom, need your input on the time frame 18:14. what happened and why you missed that ball. I often get LBW in those balls. Could you please tell me what needed to be changed for not to get out. You did not tell anything about that ball how it felt after the delivery from bowlers hand etc.

    • @cricketmentoring
      @cricketmentoring  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate. I missed it because my head fell across to the off side and therefore my leg got across to off stump which meant I had to play around my pad. If my head was 'stiller' at release I would have been able to move at the ball instead of across... Hope that helps mate. We will teach this sort of thing in our online academy once it's launched..
