Love your channel + appreciate the intel! My dad’s signature scent was Old Spice and I think it’s the reason I love carnation notes/accords so much. The red bottle of Lauren was my first real perfume, gifted in the early 80s when I was in my early teens. What a pleasure listening to this! Thanks for the generous sharing.

I love these trips down memory lane. When you can find great masculine fragrances in the past you can trace how far we’ve explored and expanded our universal tastes.

Fun one to finally get through, I'm a bit younger (36 this year) so can't really imagine wearing Amaris at 10 haha. By the sounds of things I had a much trashier journey on fragrances but I think it's true what Dan said about Polo - your earliest fragrance memories shape your current interest. I still like fresh green fragrances...
Earliest I remember wearing properly is Tommy, Tommy and Polo Sport were my late 90s when I was starting secondary/high school. My dad actually had Green Irish Tweed and I had no idea what it was, he kept it next to some CK Obsession, Old Spice and Cool Water. I had no reason to believe it was any different. The only one of these I remember 'borrowing' was Cool Water. During my uni days I was still full designer, a couple Armani - Night and White - both now discontinued. I remember smelling PR Ultraviolet and thinking it was really interesting so had a bottle of that too.
I think I'd also have to say Aventus and Dior Sauvage had an impact on me, I'd be lying if I said any different. I don't actually like Sauvage these days, the EDT anyway, but I found it new at the time and enjoyed wearing it. Aventus when that was new to me in about 2014, I felt like - I can't believe this now - why do you need anything else? This is exactly how I should smell. Obviously you get bored, tastes change a bit and well, the quality went massively down IMO.
Other than that I think I could say particular notes changed things for me, when I first found oud that I liked, leather and tobacco. I think these are notes I would have previously turned my nose up, but they're now some of my favourite.

Wore the hell out of Polo Green in the late 80s (high school). Royal Copenhagen as well. Today's Polo Green is fairly close and still nice..love it still. You Will scream 80's if you wear this now. My girlfriend wore Lauren (deep red bottle) in HS. Loved that as well. Thanks for the great video!

Amazing 👏 🙀 video guys! What journeys you have taken over the years! Loved listening to this and I decided to have some of my (Japanese) wife's sake and a few spritzes of some of my journey #fragrances too!
    Here's a few of mine...
    1. Escada Magentism for men.
So this now goes for £150 a bottle. Discontinued. Gah. This is GRAPE COLA. And this for me was EXACTLY what Dan gets from #Timbuktu
    2. Shalimar. Yes. I used my mom's bottle and bloody loved it. The compliments I got from 20 something women wearing this!
    3. #Creed Virgin Island Water. This was the Creed for me. Summer, rum, dried banana skin, hot salt and sweat in a pool.
    4. Quorum. My Aramis, if you like. 20 quid from my pharmacy in Crouch End. And....BOOM! What power 🔋 (older bottles). This turned me on to the greener, oakmoss and filthier smells...
Honorable mentions: Club Scent = Joop Homme... yikes! And first experimental one that opened my eyes was #Yatagan

The first aftershave I brought was in Portugal on holiday from one of those great fragrance shops that you used to see whilst on holiday abroad, it was a Lacoste splash on aftershave and the reason I brought it had nothing to do with how it smelt I brought it because I loved my Lacoste polo t-shirts it was 1985 I was 16 and I smelt great. Going forward because I got an Armani shirt I got an Armani fragrance, Cerruti jeans Cerruti fragrance and so on ( i still love Cerruti 1881). I’m glad to say now I’m older I buy fragrance’s on how they smell rather than matching them with the clothes I buy.

It’s missing the deft touch of cumin that gives it that slight sweaty carnal vibe that never quite goes to b.o. like cumin often does.
