    I really enjoyed this type of exercise, mapping hues and values. I did this chart for some of my colours and I really enjoyed it. It made me think that I don't really need that many colours when mixing can get so many wonderful options. Thanks and keep going.

      Yeah I'm thinking of doing a primary triads series where we can explore different mixing sets using charts like this, does that sound good?

      @@chromaphile Yes! I am now re watching the video where you mix phtalo green and viridian with other colours and am excited to see so many surprising mixes. It all comes to show that my focus should shift to having less and more versatile colours to create mixes, rather than collecting all possible colours available out there 🤭🫣

      @@berolinastrassmann well, I'm collecting all the colours and justifying it by doing the mixing for you guys 😂

    That is brilliant to see. Such a mine field of trade agreements we all pay for which ever way the products go. I grateful for Jackson’s here in Uk. Thanks for the demo 😀

    It’s a lovely combination of colours - I really enjoy seeing other people’s limited palettes 😊 The yellow is nice and versatile and I really love the purple! If you add a tiny bit of the purple into the lightest orange mix you might get a nice Quin Gold replacement.

    Oh my goodness, that Corinthian Purple is absolutely stunning! I think you chose a wonderful selection of colors and it makes for a fun and unique palette. The PR254 is always one of my favorite pigments. Great choices!

      Thank you!! I'm really happy with them, though I think I might like a different blue in the future...

    Imperial purple has the granulation you were talking about. Separates to purple and a fucia. So pretty. I only have 2 Michael Harding colours. I will likely get more. I love that they are easy to wet. I also like m graham for that,

    • @chromaphile
      @chromaphile  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes imperial purple is also the same as Roman Szmal's mineral violet which is why I didn't buy it! They really are beautiful paints.

    Hola Jules! I have a few MH colors and they are outstanding! I have Quin Coral, Quin Gold, Phthalo Blue Lake, Moss Green and Bright Green Lake! And they are so vivid and whenever I use them, my work seems to pop right out of the page!

    • @chromaphile

    Their quin coral is nice as is the Turner's yellow. I also really like the yellow lake.
    Eta: the payne's grey granulates and is blue leaning, I love it.

    • @chromaphile
      @chromaphile  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I considered the turner's yellow but I already have it from Schmincke so I was prioritising novelty! I'd definitely consider getting the Payne's grey in future

    Thanks for this video! A mess just means you are working. 🙂
    M grahams are identical to M H's in that they are made with honey and super highly pigmented. In the US, they are much cheaper. For the basics (like the quins and phthalos and the PV19's) I'd suggest getting the M Grahams, then get M Hardings for what MG doesn't have, like their PR206 cinquasia maroon, PR233 potter's pink or PW6;1 buff titanium.
    For those of you in other parts of the world, MH may end up being less expensive to get. Their indanthrones and quin golds are almost identical. I love MH's moss green, but MG's mixed greens are pretty ugly to me.

      Yes MG is soooo expensive to get here... MH is not the cheapest but more affordable and I can totally see a lot of the similarities

    I too have 4 tubes of MH but I haven’t tried mixing them. You have inspired me to give it a go. I know we don’t need every color, just a few that play nice together. I really like your mixes 🎉
