You have my utmost respect. No pointless background info, no music.....just clear precise and helpful repair help. I’m not often impressed with videos and/or people but I am impressed by you and your video. Thank you sir.

usually the terminals at the element get loose, the thermal fuse blows, or the element itself breaks, like yours did.

Just came across a Black and Decker heat gun that isn't heating up, so the problem will be different from the one you've shown here. But this was a nice save. Those wires that burnt off are often impossible to solder because they are usually of some un-solderable alloy and also they get too hot anyway. I think they would simply melt the solder if you tried that. They may be nichrome at this point, like in a toaster. I never thought of using a rivet in this way. This was a great idea. It looks like you used a aluminum rivet, which might get awful hot itself. Not sure if it would melt, or not. You could try using steel, but that might simply pull through and not break off properly in the mica as the aluminum one seems to have done. Anyway, great save and great tips about how to join this type of wire. Gonna go take a look at mine now! All the best!

Thanks for the video. I've got an older Wagner heat gun that I picked up at a yard sale, looks brand new, but it won't turn on. I'll tear it apart and look it over.

Is that heating element getting the full wall voltage, 110-120v depending on your grid?
