Thank you for the proper introduction to Ensor! I have only been vaguely aware of him, but then when you showed, "Christ’s Entry into Brussels," I realized that I have spent A LOT of time looking at that fascinating painting at the Getty Museum.
This artist uses masks to reveal instead of hide. Wealthy business men and well-dressed ladies in public have exterior clothes and facial expressions that hide their true nature. I find the colors harsh and crude, not lovely or bright. For once, says this artist, see these people as the foolish clowns they really are, not the elite people they pretend to be. Pretty daring stuff
Gorgeous description and insight to introduce a painter of often lurid strangeness. The video storytelling - perfection!
Fantastic video one again. I'm a 6th semester art student and this channel really solidified my interest in art. Thank you for all your great work!
I see a new Smarthistory video, I click enthusiastically!
Wow, fantastic painting. Thanks for introducing us to it!
I think he is one of my favourite artists, his work just really resonates with me ! Thank you for this video. Wonderful to watch and listen to.

Hopefully someday we will make a video about the Getty canvas.
Thank you!
Thank you for introducing me to a new to me artist! His work is on par with the Impressionists.
Amazing stuff, keep it up
