Yes, the permits are labeled as an "alteration", but the tower is 100% coming down. It's likely that the footers will stay for the tower to be reused, which could be why the "alteration" term is used.
The fact that Ka is set to be imploded will probably make every coaster enthusiast’s heart shatter, knowing that it had a huge impact during the coaster wars back in the later 90s and into the 2000s, all to then suddenly close down with no announcement and no proper send off. Definitely the saddest time to be in for the coaster industry.

Rolling Thunder technically an alteration. Also, if the 99% applies, I figure the station could be repurposed for "Spinda Ka" or whatever "Project 2026" will be called.
Well here it finally is. Oh man this is just awful. So much pain. At the very least we can finally put the whole " They're not taking it down Kingda Ka" to bed. But all of the track that lead to The Top Hat will be demoed like Green Lantern before the Big Bang!! Cheaper to implode the Top Hat, than to use a tall crane to dismantle costing hours.
Unlikely. The cost of renting the crane capable of reaching these heights is not worth it. It's significantly cheaper to drop the tower and tear it apart. Six Flags clearly doesn't care about optics after how they went about the closure announcement.
