I hope the husband takes the divorce and separates from that Entitled Karen! She sounds like she only married him for his MONEY and a rich/lavish lifestyle, being treated like a queen and NEVER having to do a single thing, let alone being a mother. What a disgusting scumbag she is!
seriously! I was never that gifted but in 7th grade it was obvious that my math skills were a bit higher so the teacher recommended that I test into honor's math. I saw the packet of extra homework they wanted me to do and said "nope". One of my worst decisions, 8th-grade math was hell! I would do the homework in class the day it was assigned and get yelled at for not paying attention. I would try to not work on homework and pay attention but the topics were so easy and boring I just zoned out then I would get yelled at again. Then my classmates would ask for help with the work and then get mad at me for trying to help (our brains just worked differently, what worked for me wasn't helpful at all to them). I tested into honors for 9th grade and it was so much better. Math was interesting again!
Absolutely. The mom should be over the moon that her child is at an advanced level. I'm at a higher level in English. Regular English is the same thing to me, just the same repeated things that are really simple concepts(at least to me.) Advanced English actually requires me to work hard and I'm actually learning things while getting college credit for it.
Exactly Not that gifted but I’ve always done work higher than my peers, especially reading. I wish I could’ve gone to a school like this bc the other kids were hard to relate to.
Right? Justice for Juliet!! And her awesome dad for taking her to get the test and supporting her needs. I’m not a kids-person, but I get it if someone is, your life needs to become about nurturing them if you decide you want them. Juliet doesn’t need this sort of mother and it sucks, I hope she understands in time.
Even if OP deletes it let's hope that this video will serve as an evidence to the lawyer and the court granting the father full custody for the daughter.
Story 1: I just hope the husband wins out in that situation. He definitely cares more about the daughter since he's willing to put her in that school while OP doesn't want to sacrifice some extra time to bring her there. I'd hate myself if I refused to bring a kid to a gifted class, that's an amazing opportunity right there!
The first story: I WAS Juliet. A gifted kid who came into Kindergarten reading chapter books, etc. My single mom moved nearly 700 miles, started a new career, and worked 50+ hrs a week so I could go to a school capable of supporting me academically. She is SO TA it's not even funny. Good on the dad for supporting his children.
@@Batman-lg2zj she would've still been burning gas driving around going shopping and to the gym. What's your point? Also, they could've had a Tesla or something similar.
@@Batman-lg2zj Did you even finish the story? The dad made special arrangements to get the kid to school and back, and all it took was a little budgeting.
@@Batman-lg2zj I now live in Houston, Tx... the city that is over 640 sq miles. You put aside your issues for your kid. Full stop. If you don't want to or cannot... don't have kids. The dad has two housekeepers and he canceled those to get a car service. Pretty sure she could have kept those if she'd taken her daughter.
New Job story: First and foremost, “We can’t give you a raise because you’d be making more than your male counterparts.” What a piss poor excuse of an excuse. Pathetic. Secondly, never EVER accept a counter offer for leaving your current job. If they make a counter offer, that means you WERE worth more and they knew it, had the budget to accommodate it, but they just didn’t want to cough up the dough. Screw them. Leave and never look back.
@@lugismansion2400 agree. He didn’t have a problem with giving her the money because she didn’t deserve it, he had a problem with it because she’d be making more than the guys.
It’s like when a gem collector tries to avoid paying you the proper amount by making up a flaw and then starts offering you more when you decide to go to another gem collector.
Then the women who have been refused in that company, should boycott, its companies like this that make women belive in the pay gape between the sexes, it only takes one rotten apple to infect the others
I would have probably negotiated something much higher, like 100% raise, and having the manager fired, and a signed contract that provides a performance bonus and raise going forward. And if they complain, explain how much your consulting fee is. 😅
His commentary is a little sexist, but God damn was he spot on I initially was like how fucking selfish is this mother but then she blew up her spot now im just giving rslash his props for calling it lol
Seriously. The mom is also not very bright. She probably could have hired an au pair very inexpensively who would have handled the school runs, homework, etc for the kids leaving her free to go to the gym and avoid 90% of the housework.
Karen: my poor daughter she's too smart to make friends at public school Also karen: ugh I'm not driving half an hour to make her life better so I'm going to keep her in those schools
Not sure what other solutions she was expecting other than "suck it up". Was she hoping some lawyer would pipe up saying the school was doing something illegal by suggesting a private school so she could sue them and keep her daughter there for her convenience?
Yeah, I would understand if the issue was not having the funds for the drive or the drive being too much for the kid to handle on a day to day basis. But no the issue is that op would rather be lazy. And even then they could probadly even afford pay for someone to deliver the kid.
Last OP's bf really thought his attempts to manipulate and control OP into being the conservative lil wifey was going to work. Glad she had the self confidence to call him on his shit.
He’s a clown 🤡 Part of being with someone is accepting them If he couldn’t accept who she is and keeps trying to change her it’s a massive red flag Toxic masculinity saved her years of wasted time
Damn right! "You're ruining our future!" No, crappy bf! You ruined your future by being a douche. Even if it turns out someone was telling him they're embarrassed by OP, he didn't have OP's back. He'd rather crush OP by making someone's opinion of her more valid.
Last story: it’s not even an effort to control her sexuality, it’s a bid for control PERIOD. It starts with clothes, hobbies and interests. Then it’s her friends, her job. Then it’s her family. Suddenly she’s gone from the vibrant person she prided herself on being, to a shell. So glad OP saw right through it!!
Yeah, I was so confused by that. I thought those guys were more subtle, instead of pretending to accept you and out of nowhere not accepting you. I’ve never really been involved with narcissistic types, though. I tend to miss subtleties and push away when I feel cornered or judged so their tactics sorta bounce off…
Yeah rSlash saying it’s about controlling her sexuality rubbed me the wrong way. She dresses alternatively? She has tattoos and piercings? I have several tattoos and 37 piercings and it has nothing to do with my sexuality. Edit: All piercings are above from the neck up. Nothing that can be considered “scandalous”.
That's totally what was happening there. The control starts little by little, first controlling what she wears and building up until he isolates her from her family & makes her constantly check in with him and lets him look through her phone to see who she's talking to.
@@NemoracStrebor honestly I don't think he's going to need a prenup. Honestly that's what it makes it seem like the court is biased because the court wants to see that you're able to take care of your children and if you can't prove that they're not going to give you your children.
@@LLandS18 This gives me hope. Juliet deserves to go to a school where she can shine. I hope "mommy dearest" gets nothing in the divorce, and I hope Juliet and her dad live a great life.

I felt something like that, after 8 months that was very odd. Probably he had a family gathering or event coming up, or maybe some friend made a comment, he became so insecure that ended up ruining his relationship. Good for OP for dumping him.
@@is_just_diana Yes, I wondered the same. Either someone said something to him and/or there is someone in particular he is worried about meeting OP. Also weird that he didn't have a straightforward conversation with her rather than trying to gaslight her about 'professionalism'.

That first story was such a roller coaster for me. I was initially like “two hours is 10 hours a week. That’s pretty hard on top of a job” then “oh she’s a stay at home parent. With three kids I guess that’s pretty demanding? Maybe she could at least get two days with her in-laws help. But that is a long time in the car for a 2yo.” Then “oh wait yeah the in-laws could easily and probably want to look after their grandkid whilst she does the driving. That’s a reasonable solution and being a stay at home parent this is kinda your job. She still has time for other things and hopefully the dad still helps with household tasks” then “wait… she has a cleaner? What is her job then if it isn’t to look after the kids? Drive your daughter to the education she needs you lazy sod.”
First story, fingers crossed the dad gets custody because the woman is ready to destroy her own child's life because she's lazy but good on him for realizing 'Oh, she's a lazy PoS' and cutting her off like that. Second story, how many times have we heard this song and dance? Seriously. Employee wants a promotion because they're working hard, manager denies them, then surprised pikachu face when the employee bails for a better job. Good on OP for finding a better job overall.
First story: I'm beginning to think OP views her daughter being this smart like a curse on her and that this entire time, OP wished that her child was never this smart, that way, her child would be able to attend public schools without any issues and she would get all her free time and live the way she wants to live.
First Story, YTA: OP is just setting Juliet up for failure. Because she don’t want to spend additional time to pick her up from this school, she rather put Juliet in a school that won’t benefit her. OP is selfish. Wooow lmao, OP IS a mega Karen and only cares about herself. So glad OP's ex husband has the chance to find someone who isn’t like OP. Ironic how OP is upset he did this behind her back when she enrolled her in a public high school behind his back Comment/OP's Response 1: OP clearly just don’t like her child from these responses and its pathetic Comment/OP's Response 2: That is very ironic since she is doing the exact same thing with her daughter and her ex husband. OP is a hypocrite and a selfish person Second Story: I didn’t finish this story yet but I have to say the statement of OP making more than her male coworkers being seen as an excuse for OP not getting a raise sounds really sexist to me. So what if OP (a woman) makes more than the men in the company? OP works for that amount of money. OP's boss is not a good boss at all. Glad OP found a much better job than where she is at now. Lmao, its hilarious how they got so desperate to try to keep OP in the company by NOW offering the things she wanted but its a little too late for that. I don’t get why OP's old manager was almost fired? What prevented him from getting fired when he obviously was treating OP horribly Third Story, NTA: If OP's bosses don’t have an issue with what she wears WHO CARES. Like who cares if OP is dressed unprofessionally? Like OP's boyfriend is giving off controlling vibes, especially since he is bringing up their future together (even though I don’t see how that is relevant). This guy is a walking red flag and it isn’t too late to walk away from this man. Its very telling that he wants to be controlling because why all of a sudden he has an issue with how OP dresses? Wooow, there it is; he don’t care about professionalism, he is embarassed about how OP looks and cared about the opinions of others. This reminds me of a time when me and my gf was sitting on a bench chilling (I’m a black man and she is spanish) and three older spanish ladies was giving us dirty looks. What we did about it was laugh it off anf continue doing what we was doing; why? Because we don’t care what people think about us. OP's ex screwed it all up for himself. Glad OP changed got her dad to change the locks too; the fact he didn’t bring the key back is sketch Comment: Gotta love the blatant hypocrisy lmao
Story 3: Hey, if the job doesn't care if OP "looks unprofessional", what's the problem? He says it "makes him feel embarrassed because of stares from other people", but based on this post, that never happened. Is this insecurity?
What bothers me is if her job allows it and she's still moving up, then it's not unprofessional? BF and sister have biased opinions on "professional" attire. I was a little emo until I started an office job. Then I had to look more business cas. But you know what? I love it. I LOVE dressing business casual and its all I wear now.
i just came out of a relationship like this. he would bring up details of how i was when we first met and how crazy i am for those things (9 yr ago, months after my mother died). he was really into me and into the things i was in the beginning of the relationship, then when we got far into the relationship he picked apart every single thing about me. i don't understand why we got in a relationship with how he'd talk about how i was when we first met. he was cool with me then tried to change every single thing about me as time went on

naw, i think he went into the relationship planning on getting her to conform to his idea of a properly dressed woman. everything OP said that he did once he changed his tune read as classic gaslighting manipulator to me. because, lets be honest, there is no way that this was the first time he saw what she was wearing into work. he just bided his time until he felt it was safe to start shaping her the way he wanted her. butter them up and then break them down method.
@@abiean222 And the passive-aggressive sighing and the silent treatment… ugh! How infuriating! The last story was the beginning of a horrible abusive relationship. it starts with little things your always the problem and THEY "did nothing wrong". Then they don't like how you do x or y. Your lucky they "put up with you" then one day you talk back to much, they get mad, and you are on the floor. When someone you with starts treating you like this you run. I am glad op woke up and "GOT THE F OUT".
Oh, when you put it that way, he reminds me of what I call “fixers” (in that I dunno if others call them that too) who are basically parasitic/predatory personalities who find someone they see as inferior, weaker, flawed or otherwise vulnerable and start “helping” them fix all their perceived problems. They love phrases like “the truth hurts” and “you have to be cruel to be kind” and consider any objections you make to be you in denial. And the end goal as far as I can tell is feeling like such a good person for pulling you out of your miserable condition to be as perfect as they are. It’s not always as invasive as this, though. Sometimes you just get caught in a car with an old lady who thinks all women should cook for their husbands and when she finds out you don’t she starts pelting you with solutions to every objection and offering you casserole recipes. From such people I’ve learned this… never make excuses, never play along, they only see that as a doorway to more interference. Pull them up short. Just like OP did!

First story: at women was disgusting. She didn’t want her child to get the proper education that could help her. She could even sacrifice a gym membership. You can exercise at home.
I want to know what the hell she does as a stay at home mom WITH HOUSEKEEPERS?? Like yeah she has a 2 year old but come on! I'm guessing all she does all day is just watch tv, gossip, and drink wine.
@@supotter377 OK now that you bought that up that actually is a good time is different stuff that stay at home moms due, but they helpers is to clean for them so what is she doing?
@@supotter377 LOL I had the same thought. You have to know she's dumping that 2 year old off on somebody. Probably goes to a gym that has child care while you're at the gym! Pathetic that she wasn't at all interested in figuring out a way for the daughter to attend the school. Obviously they have some discretionary income and could afford to hire some help. OP just didn't care.
Also you can exercise for free at a lot of parks, so many public parks have free workout equipment such as chin pull ups, parallel bars, press up bar, hurdles, balance beams, basketball, even a cycling machine of sorts! There’s several of these in my local area (Aberdeen, Scotland) and I know damn well these free exercise equipment areas exist in other public parks around the world. Completely free to use, but I’ve a feeling she just wants a super fancy gym and isn’t willing to use free gym equipment because it’s not good enough, and would mean putting her children before herself, and it’s very obvious she’s extremely selfish.
First story: 2 hours per day is quite a road trip, but it’s worth it if your child really wants to go and her peers are at that school. Juliet should be happy with that outcome.

Last story: OPs ex knew who she was when they stared dating and was trying to manipulate her into changing for him. When it didn't work he threw a tantrum like a little boy and tried to guilt her into seeing his view of things. Almost laughable how he tried to act like nothing happened and attempted to change the subject when OP called him out on his shit. You are so better off without him OP, good call changing the locks since he wouldn't give his key back.
Story 3: If the boyfriend had a sudden about face about her dress after praising it, what happened is that someone said something to him about it - likely a parent or very close family member that he sees as a permanent fixture in his life and would be devastated to have them say something negative about his partner. I think a lot of us have been there where you see someone for a while, you’re on cloud 9, you tell your parents about this great new person excitedly, you show them a picture of your new love…and then the tone of the conversation changes from excitement to cold like a traffic light. One or both of the parents have something to say about how they look - their race, their weight, their personal style, or maybe the person you adore is just not good-looking enough for their precious child in their eyes - and then that balloon full of happiness you had just deflates. So, instead of taking the disagreeable party to task on making a snap judgment, the boyfriend has taken it to heart and is now faulting OP for dressing as she always has, and wants to change her to appease this important person who took umbrage. He’s using their same talking points coupled with the invisible majority tactic to shame her - implying vaguely that “so many people” have issues with her personal style, but never gives any specifics on who when pressed. Boyfriend wants to keep his cake and eat it, too, but doesn’t realize that he can have one or the other, but both is impossible. OP is well rid of this spineless wuss of a boyfriend.
the fact that he couldn't name one person who had a problem with the way she dressed, along with all the other signs, makes me think that he was the one with a problem with her style. he might have even gone into the relationship planning to get her to dress differently
@@abiean222 - I’ll allow for the possibility. It does happen in other cases - for example, when someone says from the outset that they don’t want kids, and the other person agrees with it. Then down the line, the person that says they don’t want kids is still keeping to that stance, and the other person is utterly shocked that they haven’t changed their mind for their specially magic, unique, glitter-covered genitalia. This just reads to me like the boyfriend had a sudden about-face, which says to me that someone put a bug in his ear.
I also suspect that he's the one that had the issue from the start. I don't think that it was specifically sexual, as was suggested, but it was manipulative for sure. It wasn't that he was trying to keep her looks to himself, it's that he was trying to change how she dresses.
@@lmj2kIf anyone put a bug in his ear, it would be a random incel calling him a "beta cuck" for "letting" his girlfriend dress like that. @@Brigand231 As a person that’s dabbled with alt fashion herself, I agree. Not all types of alt fashion are “sexy” (in fact some are designed specifically to be the exact opposite of sexy), it’s most likely just about the boyfriend’s own insecurities of not having a girlfriend that’s too “stand-offish”
My thoughts while listening to the first story: - "Oh, what a great opportunity for the kid and it's really nice, that the public school helps so much" - "Hmm two hours driving every day sounds hard. Especially to manage it with a job, household and the baby." - "Wait, she doesn't work? Then she should have the time." - "The grandparents could babysit? That sounds wonderful! She should definitely have the time then!" - "She had maids? Wth is she doing with all that free time?!"

Anyway I'm glad OP is getting a divorce, that's one less mouth to feed and now he can afford to get a nanny and get the daughter to school. OP it's obvious you didn't really love him to divorce him over something so trivial and shallow as a gym membership and maid service because your husband put your kids first unlike you. Edit to add: maybe since she has no income dad will get full or majority custody and she'll get nothing. Plus if a judge find this post and discovers that this woman it divorcing her husband because of her gym membership then Dad has a strong case. Not to mention the complete lack of care for her children.

Sorry I was still thinking about this story and something really bugs me. OP asked if we were happy about the outcome of all of this, how now she's getting a divorce and won't be able to live her fabulous life. And while I can't speak for everyone else I'll say this and say no I'm not satisfied. I can't be satisfied with someone that is so shallow and selfish that she is willing to leave her family for a gym membership, maid service, and 2 hours of her day when most of it is nothing. A satisfying conclusion would have been that she realize how selfish and Petty she is for caring about that trivial stuff and try to do better. This is another story where a parent doesn't give two craps about her children, and wants the world to feel bad for her because she being asked to do her job. OP is a piece of human garbage that thinks the world ever want to save her or watch her burn. The truth is the world doesn't care, especially when you're the one putting yourself in the situation to suffer. And in this case it's over one of the most shallow things you could possibly have an issue with.

Story 1: Honestly, it’s unfortunate but tbh…r/slash is right. This Karen likely WILL end up winning. She’ll likely get primary custody with Dad paying child support. The only thing i hope, is that Dad can use this situation as an example of her NOT having her children’s best interests at heart and hopefully THAT can persuade the courts. Does it always work like that? If you say “the mother doesn’t want to take her to school” wouldn’t that make him get custody? Edit: ok I asked after reading half of your comment haha… but well, I wish someone can tell me if it’s enough in most cases.
@@DianaWanMa Sadly, since she is the "primary caretaker" for the kids most of the day and he is the one working all the time they will most likely let her keep primary custody while making him pay child support... It sucks that there are people like this who can be crappy to their family and still come out better for it... You have one parent who provides for everyone yet they are somehow seen as "less" because they didn't sit on their butts all day... Then they are usually made to pay that lazy person to do the same thing they were doing... Some courts are waking up to this crap but it is slow to change and mothers are still sadly preferred...
I've found out that a gifted kid will act out from boredom if they aren't challenged at school. It's better for them to attend classes that will keep them learning than sit there bored out of their minds.
Story 1: YTA. OP Karen is basically saying "But what about myyyyy needs?!" and isn't willing to sacrifice for her daughter. Sis, you are a stay at home mom, you have tons of time. So what's an extra 30 minutes of driving going to do? God forbid it ruins your free time amiright? You are a mom OP, you are supposed to be willing to make sacrifices for your own kid and she is incredibly gifted for sure, you are just preventing her from releasing her full potential. You essentially just hate your kid, that's it.
not only is she a SAHM, but she's a SAHM that has a maid! half of the job for SAHMs is the cleaning, and she doesn't even have to do that! 2 hours a day to make sure her kid reaches her full potential is an easy price to pay
But what does Juliet want? Both parents made decisions but no one seems to have after Juliet. Of course everybody is assuming that Juliet would want the better education. But she very well might not. Just because she's unhappy at her current school doesn't mean she would want to change schools. I know as a person who also was pretty much a reading chapter books in kindergarten and whatnot that I found school to be a lot worse once I started to being "challenged" I went from being lonely but at the very least good at school to being lonely and being bad at school, which subsequently destroyed my enjoyment of school itself my willingness to learn and my caring from anyting after ninth grade. I had been really excited about school before that, I usually knew what to do I usually do the answers and I could figure out answers I didn't know and I could help other students and the teachers liked me. Then suddenly everything with a struggle I wasn't allowed to do any extracurriculars because of my grades I had to stay at after school pretty much all the time just to get help from the teachers because we couldn't help me in class and it didn't really help with my social life either way. Not every child wants to be challenged. Wohlfeil only before, ys! But the solution to that was not to take away the only thing I was good at and order to make me even more lonely that I had been. I went from being excited to go to school everyday to begging my parents to let me drop out so I can get my GED which Faye didn't let me do. The mom wants Juliet to stay in the public school, the dad wants to put Juliet into the gifted school, but there is absolutely no mention of what Juliette wants so I don't see how either of these parents are better than the other one. I mean it just imagine if Julia didn't want to go to the other school and she found out that pretty much the reason her parents are getting a divorce is because her parents disagreed on what to do with it at her dad wanted to take her to it again for her mom fed and now they're fighting and now they're getting divorced because Dad was going to put her into school she didn't even want to go to. How is that better for her mental health than her just not having anyone to talk to about whatever books you for reading?
As a former gifted kid the girl from the first story should under all circumstances go to that school. I was supposed to skip a grade but my parents were worried of me being the youngest, which in turn lead to me being so bored of school that now I'm unable to study and have major focusing problems. Especially a young kid like this should be given challenges so they don't get bored and stop trying
i just love that classic gaslighting technique. start a big deal over nothing and then act like your victim is the one being unreasonable. makes me want to punch their teeth in every time i see it
First story- Joke’s on OP. If she divorces her husband, she’s going to have to support herself. She needs to get a job. It sounds like she’s abdicating her role as “mother”, so she’ll also be paying child support.
i listened with my mouth open i have autism and went to a school for children who had special needs and my mother drove me there and back for 2.5 hours because that was the nearest school And she drove me in rain and sun because she knew I needed that school while being a working mother (she still worked as a nurse in a retirement home)
Story 1 : "Juliet is very gifted but struggle to socialize" Ah yes the gifted child... I don't want to say that's a bad sign, but this doesn't usually end up very well ._. Best of luck for Juliet
While slowly, humanity is getting better... At least she won't be literally burned alive anymore, because people consider her a child of the devil... in most places....
SAHM doesn't have an income and she abandoned the home. There's likely a chance he could win full custody because she can't provide and abandoned the house.
@@juliaboskamp9666 Right? We moved 15 hours away twice with our first son. The first trip took over three days because we had to stop often for him. The second one took two, but only because we wanted to stay at a hotel half way through. And you know what? He was so good and I loved every moment of it even if he did cry a lot the first trip. But it was also when he got his first tooth and sat up.
The first woman is willing to give up her marriage, family and comfortable lifestyle all because she doesn’t want to DRIVE A FEW EXTRA HOURS A WEEK??? Her daughter would be happier and make the most of her intelligence but noooooo it’s too far. Insanity, true insanity
Story 1: I work in education and OP is what I would consider as "caring more about her phone than feeding her kid." In OP's case, she cared more her gym membership than Juliet's education. I hope the husband gets full custody of the kids.
Agreed. And if/when OP's daughters become moms, at 16 and 17, and not graduate from high school, she'll still care more about her gym membership then feeding/clothing her grandchildren.
In the beginning of the first story, I kept thinking "Why not hire someone to take her to and from school? Seems like a win-win" and then sure enough, the reason behind that was OP couldn't give up her gym membership and house cleaners. Jesus.
Story 2: If you don't give your employees what they're worth, someone else will. I remember reading about a boss whose philosophy for his team was he wanted people to come to him because they knew if they were good, he'd help them get promoted.
I use to be in the gifted program as a kid. I suffer from premature burnout now. If I can’t pick something up and immediately understand it I drop it faster than a white charcoal and feel like a complete failure. It sucks. I hate gifted programs. Some of my other friends also have the same issue
"Unprofessional" look story: What I'm guess is that while OP works for a company with a relaxed dress code, her bf does not! He's probably being pressured to come to work related events where a plus one may not be required but may be expected and he's afraid to bring her without "upgrades", otherwise his job may be affected. UPDATE: There is definitely more going on here than bf is admitting to. Glad you got your locks changed OP. If you're able/allowed to have a doorbell cam, get one!
The first story, "I don't wanna be in a car with a 2 year old for 2 hours" what do you mean A 2 year old? She's YOUR 2 year old, not some random kid you found on the road somewhere. Geez that lady shouldn't have kids
Story 1: this woman sounds EXACTLY like my abusive, narcissistic mother, and I think it goes beyond just her being lazy and a trophy wife who doesn't really care about her kids. I'm willing to bet that the mother is jealous of her daughter and is trying to sabotage her. If it really were about not wanting to drive her there, there are a hundred different solutions, ESPECIALLY if they're rich. She seemed mad that the daughter even took the test and got accepted. I'm glad the dad at least seems to be supportive, and that's going to be invaluable to that little girl as she grows up. She's going to need it with a mother like that.
The last story...wow. I agree with OP and her sister. It is typically unprofessional to dress like that - but, in OP's job, it's NOT unprofessional, because no one cares!
That is what I was thinking. It matters more what your job thinks. If they are fine with it then no problem dressing that way. I have had office jobs that I could never dress that way, but that is where you dress one way for work and another at home. This is definitely the boyfriend.
The first story had hurt me really badly. My brothers and I had to get different needs from school. My eldest brother and I needed to be challenged more, and my other brother needed assistance in social situations and challenged more. This had helped us a lot when we were able to find a school that could support all of us. It is sickening to see someone so against helping their kids and that is what leads to a lot of children not learning in the best way for them. I hope she gets some common sense about raising kids soon.
I had the exact same thought as the commenter in the last story. The lack of self awareness from the boyfriend to say "You're really gonna act this way over clothes?" is hilarious. Glad OP kicked his ass to the curb.
Story about the new job: I approached my boss some years back about hiring me on officially-- I was technically employed by a temp agency and was trying to save up for a house, and I knew no bank in the world would give me a mortgage as long as my paycheck came from a temp agency. I was already full time, long term at this job and nothing would change, but my boss gave be a bit of a run-around why they couldn't hire me away from the temp agency. Something about insurance and legal limitations on full time employees. He outright told me they had a hiring freeze. A few weeks later he hired someone. I even asked the new guy if he was a temp like me, and nope, he was an official employee of the actual company. Boss even put him in the same workshop with me. I'm still insulted how he lied to my face and thought either I wouldn't notice the lie or was too stupid to question the contradiction. I started looking for new work that day.
Last Story: That guy is an ahole. But even if he had a real reason to be upset about the way she dressed, the adult way to handle it is to sit down and talk about his concerns, not act all huffy like a passive aggressive teenager. So his biew is wrong, his approach is wrong, his reaction is wrong, just everything about him is wrong
Story 1: I’ve driven 5 hours round trip for pies for my birthday to help with a crowdfunding effort for the maker, a complete stranger from twitter. 2 hours is nothing for my own damn kid. Story 2: Having been in this position but in food service, I remember going through this BS. They’ll act like you’re replaceable right up until you say you’re leaving, then all of a sudden they have to hire three new people to replace you and how could you do this to them?! Maybe if they treated their irreplaceable employees better, they wouldn’t be stuck in that position. Story 3: Omg I remember seeing this one on reddit and thinking OP’s boyfriend was such a loser.
I used to commute to work two hours in the morning and an hour and a half in the evening (traffic was worse in the morning). It was exhausting, but it paid the bills. She could have even found a gym or whatever closer to where the kid goes to school to have something to do while out that way.
Story 1: Yes OP, we are all happy with the outcome that the husband put his daughter above a spoiled rotten trophy wife. Please tell me there was a prenup 🙏
OP's husband has enough money to afford a maid and spoil a trophy wife, if that money was there before the marriage it is a strong possibility that they got a prenup. either way, the odds are not in her favor to get custody - how is she gonna afford a good lawyer without hubby's money?
Ex-Trophy Wife Story: Actually, she might not get everything she wants if the dad has a decent divorce lawyer. Heck, if the dad can get sworn testimony from the school about how the mother was insistent on not allowing the child to go to a school that would better suit their needs it could tip things in his favor. I can hope at least...
The last guy reminds me of an ex buddy who told me I was ruining my life after I got a facial piercing then when I said it was my life to ruin flipped out at me for 'ignoring' them. Some people just really love controlling and being entitled to others bodies. It's dehumanizing. We're not property.
I know it's a lot to ask for but I would LOVE an update to the first story in a decade or so. Imagine having that conversation with your kid. "Yes sweetie I did try my hardest to tank an amazing opportunity for you ..But do you realize how annoying that drive would've been for me?"
I feel like the last story, its not really a true sexism and controlling thing but more so he has someone around him like his friends or family dripping poison in his ear about her cloths, changing her views on it since this change seemed to be rather sudden, and because he's stupid he let it get to his head and doubled down when confronted with it.
First story: at first I was thinking "Okay, not everyone has the luxury of being able to drive two hours, and sometimes, it's just not an option", but the moment OP said she was a stay at home mom, I was like "bish, you have the option to not work? Then what's stopping you from taking your kid to school?" Not to knock on stay at home moms, the have just as many responsibilities as their 9-5 counterparts, but OP is her own boss. She can easily move things around the adjust for the two hours.
Some managers are just sexist, lmao, my mom had this manager in her job that wouldn't let her go on business trips (despite the fact she was very qualified) because "She has small kids to take care of"
“It’s disgusting when parents put their own needs in front of the needs of their kids” OP isn’t even doing that. She’s putting her own CONVENIENCE before her daughter’s NEEDS. Which is even worse.
Honestly I would die of exhaustion and never get a bit of housework done from being too tired, if I had to drive two hours per day. I'd probably fall asleep on the road. But I have chronic illness and a job. I have no idea what this lady's life is like. 2 hrs in the car daily would actually be fairly cruel to the 2 year old if she had to take them along. EDIT: After the update, that's incredibly fortunate that they had the money to get the daughter a driver to the advanced school, and all they had to do was stop gym & maids. Very lucky for them.
I was similar to the daughter in the first story while I was in Elementary school. Once I started honors classes I felt like I was surrounded by people who understood me, and it felt amazing. Not only that, but I started loving school again. That mother willingly sabotaged her child’s entire life because she didn’t want to be in a car with her child.
That clothes at work story, before I even finish it, sounds like that dude is trying to control OP using the old "knock em down, then build em back up" approach. Maybe their family convinced them that they needed to it, hence the sudden change.
Story 2: OP should tell manager that either she gets a promotion or she leaves the company. His choice and he needs to make it immediately. My wife was in a similar position and made that demand to her supervisor. When he refused to make a decision she told him that he just had and here was her letter of resignation. Three years later she was at a higher level than her old supervisor.
As a mother you sacrifice for your children. My daughter didn’t NEED physical or occupational therapy when she was younger but her doctor recommended it and it was a total 2 hour drive twice a week. Even if I had to make that drive everyday for my daughter I would! I just drove 5 hours to drop her off at a camp for kids with her condition. I would do ANYTHING for my child no matter how tired or inconvenient it is.
Story 1: I’m going to agree. If your kid needs to go to a gifted school to reach their potential, you agreed to that two hour drive BEFORE even having kids in the first place. UPDATE: lmaoo yeah what a trash mom, I feel bad for the life those kids are going to have, constantly defending themselves from her entitlement.
In the final story it's not about clothes, it's about identity. Op dresses that way because that's who she is, that's what makes her feel good. She should never ever compromise on that.
Story 1 : YTA.. again all im hearing from op is " my kid is gifted but if i cant use her in this town i dont care"... Update : hoping for a really good judge so that op loses everything..op ex husband seems like a stand up dude.. Story 2 : apply for the other company op ... op boss is kinda of a D word.. Update 1 : Good job op.. $ makes the world go round.. Update 2 : The upper bosses someday will get the hint that this manager is gonna run your company into the ground but yeah keep him hired.. Story 3 : NTA..F that jerk of a BF .. op dress how you like to dress ..for me i dress for comfort not for style.. Update 1 : good on you op F that jerk..
I feel like the only viable excuse for not driving a two year old for an extra hour is if you feel like that child wouldn't make it that far if they needed to go to the toilet along the way, but even that falls apart when there's this concept in basic human society called a 'pit stop'
Story 1: 'Juliet' might be that once-in-a-lifetime kind of genius. A visionary like Newton or Einstein. Possibly the future inventor of faster-than-light travel or the cure to cancer. Who knows? The best we can do is make sure that gifted kids (or kids in general*) are given the tools that they need to succeed. If they can push further then we shouldn't hold them back. Just imagine what we would've missed out on if Einstein for example never learned how to write. We would not have GPS! I'm so glad that that dad didn't let his local Karen hold his kid back. And to 'Juliet': go get 'em! I like to think we're all collectively cheering her on here. Asterisk: not all big names in the history of science started out as the stereotypical 'smartest kid in class'. Joseph Fraunhofer for example had a notoriously rocky school career, but ended up revolutionarizing the field of optics and discovered Fraunhofer lines, which are now a cornerstone of astrophysics.
7:39 - Before hearing the rest of the story, here is what I'd do if I were OP. 1) Start looking for a new job, seems like she could get one somewhat easily. 2) Make 2 different documents in 2 copies, one being her termination letter from the company (she's not quitting), the other being a new contract with her new title, responsibilities and salary. Tell the boss that he HAS to sign one of the documents before the day is over.
First story blows me away… like for real?! A gym membership and some maids? So she doesn’t work and she doesn’t keep a household. What DOES she do that makes a drive impossible? Wants to brag about having a gifted child (who just from the story, obviously got 100% of that from her dad) but won’t nurture it. Bravo to the Huss and in the story. “Oh, you don’t want to drive, cool. Just hired a driving service with the money we’ll save from you having to drive to the gym since you don’t like doing that.”
Dang. That trophy wife Is insane. She's getting divorced because the man has her daughters best interest In mind. She's crazy. 2 hours a day and she had a maid. I thought she did all pf the house work but even then It's shitty but damn.
Seriously! I have disabilities and my Mom was more than willing to drive me 3 hours so that I could go to a school that could support me. She was a single Mom who often had to work 2 jobs, but THIS Mom who has a husband, housekeepers, and supportive family who are close enough to babysit can't do this for her kid? Pathetic.
Does that selfish entitled mum in the first story deserve the rare 5/5 bad guys? Because neglecting your child’s mental health and education screams 5/5 bad guys to me personally.
First story, I ran 3 kids for 2 hours a day to schools and 2 hours from school with a 2 year old through school of choice so my kids could have more opportunities. As a single parent. No reason she couldn't do it.
My Fiances mom is a trophy wife. The first story is definitely accurate. For reference, his mom takes a trip on HIS birthday EVERY SINGLE YEAR and doesn't take him. She celebrates the fact she gave birth.
Yea, it worries me that they don't have one because of how quick she was to decide divorce... Makes me think she knows she can take him to the cleaners as a SAHM so that is why she is ready to leave so fast... Bet she thought of this outcome before and it is going to be really crappy if he has to PAY her to do the same level not caring for their kids...
I remember when my mom had the same kind of meeting when I was little. We wanted to do it so bad but between my dad being deployed, my mom working at a hospital nearly all hours of the day, and my grandmother recovering from cancer; there was no one to take me. I’m 28 and mom still hates she couldn’t do it for me.
In the first story, if they end up getting divorced over this I really hope that the judge sees the wife for who she is, a selfish wife who feels like her needs come before her own children! I hope the judge takes what Juliet needs into consideration and sees that the dad was doing the best for his child. I know things don't always go the father's way, but hoping it does this time for all 3 of those kids' sake!
1st: YTA. so you're feeling are more important than your child schooling. those poor kids. you don't have to sit in the car with a 2 year old have your in-laws watch it. and i'm glad the trash is taking itself out for him. i pray he had you sign a pre-nup or shows the court this post. 2nd: NTA. if it's not your job don't do it. 3rd: NTA. he's over the Goth GF phase get rid of him. better than having no job like him, get rid of the probably job-less bum.
How was it never mentioned in the raise story that the manager just outright said "we can't give you a raise because then you'll make more than your male peers"? That seems like a significant red flag in and of itself, even if you ignored literally everything else
Story 1: If the FIL is willing to babysit/help with the driving sometimes, but she feels bad, then just split the driving with him. Good on the father for going around her and ignoring her BS for the sake of his daughter.
As someone who was doing math three grades ahead and reading at least seven grade levels ahead for years, and someone who quite frankly had no friends until middle school, an opportunity like the one in the first story would have been ideal.
Wth??? The wife was a STAHM and had a HOUSE KEEPER and "didn't have time" ???? The house keeper is literally cleaning for her and cleaning takes FOREVER bc messes just keep popping up esp when u have kids that young 😭 so glad the father stepped up for his daughter
Well? Slashy is a man, as far as I know, therefore he gets the pass to use the "man baby slur;" he has to be more careful when it's about women because, again as far as I know, he is not a woman. Also, there's the whole "punching up" thing, as long as we live in a patriarchy, misandry will be less hurtful than misogyny. /s
@@Wendy_O._Koopa we do not live in a patriarchy, if anything we live in a matriarchy. Women have more rights and get a much bigger piece of resources for their problems, plus people take their problems seriously and laugh at men's problems. Doesn't sound like a patriarchy to me.
Hopefully her husband has her sign a prenup. But, most of all, I hope he keeps the kids (Primary Custodial Parent). And I hope he finds her post and it help him!
Well hey, the best outcome for OP is her getting divorced from her husband, because you know what always happens to spoiled trophy wives? They split and take half the money, house, whatever they can get, and they have NO idea how to budget and save on expenses, because they're so used to their husbands or wives bringing in that money constantly for them, so used to the potential of it never running out, that they almost ALWAYS end up broke, homeless and with no one to blame but themselves. If she's also whining about all of this publicly, her husband has a clear footing to stand on in a battle over custody, so she won't be taking the kids with her when she goes. They'll be able to have a loving and supportive father, care from whoever he decides to hire, or marry, if he does remarry, proper education that suits their needs, and a home they can always call their own and feel safe in. OP is screwing herself over because of her greed, and it's honestly the best thing she can do for her family
Two Hour Drive Mom: Yeah. My daughter tested into a special STEM school & just Graduated High School with her Associates from the State College her High School's Building was at. The extra drive time was very well worth it!
I'm thrilled the husband took his daughter to be tested anyway. A mind like hers needs to be nurtured-for her mental health and her growth.
Exactly
Not that gifted but I’ve always done work higher than my peers, especially reading. I wish I could’ve gone to a school like this bc the other kids were hard to relate to.
She is probably a narcissist
Hopefully ops husband can find this reddit post so that he can pass it onto his lawyer. What she's saying would only help dig a deeper hole for her
I honestly think the husband is better off without OP. I hope he gets full custody of Juliet.
Imagine that as evidence in divorce court. The judge would likely lose their mind at op being such a Karen
Hope the kiddo blooms and become a awesome person
Story 1: I just hope the husband wins out in that situation. He definitely cares more about the daughter since he's willing to put her in that school while OP doesn't want to sacrifice some extra time to bring her there.
I'd hate myself if I refused to bring a kid to a gifted class, that's an amazing opportunity right there!
Hopefully he gets pitbull lawyer and does what the court tells him. If he gets custody he wouldn't have to pay support

No she isn’t and do you know how much gas she would be burning
@@Batman-lg2zj she would've still been burning gas driving around going shopping and to the gym. What's your point? Also, they could've had a Tesla or something similar.
@@Batman-lg2zj They had a maid service coming twice a week. I’m positive they could afford the little bit of extra gas.
Just because of that line alone from her ex manager was sexist
That first story is the definition of entitlement.
It’s like the show young Sheldon but Sheldon doesn’t get to go to places he should.
His commentary is a little sexist, but God damn was he spot on I initially was like how fucking selfish is this mother but then she blew up her spot now im just giving rslash his props for calling it lol
She is probably a narcissist
Seriously. The mom is also not very bright. She probably could have hired an au pair very inexpensively who would have handled the school runs, homework, etc for the kids leaving her free to go to the gym and avoid 90% of the housework.
Which is why this Karen needs to be terminated from life.
Karen: my poor daughter she's too smart to make friends at public school
Also karen: ugh I'm not driving half an hour to make her life better so I'm going to keep her in those schools
Please make it make sense 😭. Karen's selfishness is insane

Is that a joke? The girl is just a goth wearing hipster. She will grow out of it in time and start dressing like her bf in do time.
That's totally what was happening there. The control starts little by little, first controlling what she wears and building up until he isolates her from her family & makes her constantly check in with him and lets him look through her phone to see who she's talking to.
The husband in the first story probably had the wife sign a pre-nup. I suspect he knew what she was like when he married her.
We can only hope.
Hopefully
Unfortunately there's been many cases of judges throwing out pre-nups because they feel they're unfair of the wife signed it "under duress"

Congrats to the kids and father for escaping this weirdo

Ironic how OP is upset he did this behind her back when she enrolled her in a public high school behind his back
Comment/OP's Response 1: OP clearly just don’t like her child from these responses and its pathetic
Comment/OP's Response 2: That is very ironic since she is doing the exact same thing with her daughter and her ex husband. OP is a hypocrite and a selfish person
Second Story: I didn’t finish this story yet but I have to say the statement of OP making more than her male coworkers being seen as an excuse for OP not getting a raise sounds really sexist to me. What prevented him from getting fired when he obviously was treating OP horribly
Third Story, NTA: If OP's bosses don’t have an issue with what she wears WHO CARES.

She already was getting a proper education. She doesn't need a special "gifted" school, she needs to learn how to be a kid.

Story 1: She's a stay at home mom and she got a maid?! What the heck is she doing all day that she can't spend 2 hours of it for her kids!?
Well, OP better be prepared to be a free babysitter when three of her kids become teen parents, and her maids resign.
My thoughts while listening to the first story:
- "Oh, what a great opportunity for the kid and it's really nice, that the public school helps so much"
- "Hmm two hours driving every day sounds hard. Especially to manage it with a job, household and the baby."
- "Wait, she doesn't work? Then she should have the time."
- "The grandparents could babysit? That sounds wonderful! She should definitely have the time then!"
- "She had maids? Wth is she doing with all that free time?!"
Story 1: I mean you could have gotten a part-time job to pay for your gym membership, or just buy a treadmill and exercise at home, that way you won't have to drive as much as you used to.

I just hope OP is selfish enough about her free time to let her future ex-husband have primary custody if for no one else’s sake but the kids’
Ex-Trophy Wife Story:
Actually, she might not get everything she wants if the dad has a decent divorce lawyer.
When he said “more money then the male colleagues” come on really? 😂
that right there is "go to HR" because that is such bullshit. and might be illegal.
Some managers are just sexist, lmao, my mom had this manager in her job that wouldn't let her go on business trips (despite the fact she was very qualified) because "She has small kids to take care of"
“It’s disgusting when parents put their own needs in front of the needs of their kids”
OP isn’t even doing that. She’s putting her own CONVENIENCE before her daughter’s NEEDS. Which is even worse.
The good thing to remember about the OP in story 1 is that people like her ALWAYS get what’s coming to them, one way or another.
Well, karma will catch up to that mother when her daughter gets even with her.
That clothes at work story, before I even finish it, sounds like that dude is trying to control OP using the old "knock em down, then build em back up" approach. Maybe their family convinced them that they needed to it, hence the sudden change.
gosh good luck to Juliet and to her dad and siblings they will need it with so karen mom/wife i hope she will be happy at her new school
Story 1: I hope OPs husband finds her posts and uses it to get custody of his kids.
You sound like a cool parent
Story 1: I’m going to agree. If your kid needs to go to a gifted school to reach their potential, you agreed to that two hour drive BEFORE even having kids in the first place.
UPDATE: lmaoo yeah what a trash mom, I feel bad for the life those kids are going to have, constantly defending themselves from her entitlement.
Same here.
Story 2: They're likely looking for his replacement, assuming they haven't already found it, given the age of the post.
Story 1 yta I heard this one before. Glad the husband put the child first.
That's so stupid
That's totally %£?@ed up, the way your fiance's mom treats him; I hope he goes NO CONTACT with her.😒
Hope hubby has a rock solid prenup, you just know OP is gonna bleed him dry.
how? OP doesn't work or have any money. how's she gonna afford a good lawyer?
Yea, it worries me that they don't have one because of how quick she was to decide divorce... Makes me think she knows she can take him to the cleaners as a SAHM so that is why she is ready to leave so fast... Bet she thought of this outcome before and it is going to be really crappy if he has to PAY her to do the same level not caring for their kids...
And when the kids end up becoming parents while in their mid to late teens, they'll bleed her dry.
Jesus, the divorce system is so predatory, and Karen's like the first one knows this all too well.
Story 1: glad the dad put the daughter first
Story 1: If the FIL is willing to babysit/help with the driving sometimes, but she feels bad, then just split the driving with him. Good on the father for going around her and ignoring her BS for the sake of his daughter.
Am I the bad guy for not clicking this one second faster?
yes 🔫
5/5
As someone who was doing math three grades ahead and reading at least seven grade levels ahead for years, and someone who quite frankly had no friends until middle school, an opportunity like the one in the first story would have been ideal.
I hope that everyone is having a good Tuesday!
I got exam prep today but I’ll try
Thank you! 👍We hope you're having a good Tuesday, too!☺️
Wth??? The wife was a STAHM and had a HOUSE KEEPER and "didn't have time" ???? The house keeper is literally cleaning for her and cleaning takes FOREVER bc messes just keep popping up esp when u have kids that young 😭 so glad the father stepped up for his daughter
rSlash "I hope this doesn't sound sexist but you sound like a trophy wife"
Also rSlash "what a man baby"
r/Slash doesn't think sexism against men is a thing, thus displaying HIS sexism and proving it is.
@@Wendy_O._Koopa What's sad is that there actually ARE sexist idiots out there (a.k.a. feminists) that think like that.
@@Wendy_O._Koopa we do not live in a patriarchy, if anything we live in a matriarchy. Women have more rights and get a much bigger piece of resources for their problems, plus people take their problems seriously and laugh at men's problems. Doesn't sound like a patriarchy to me.
@@genseven4616 Oh... you're unironically a meninist? Well then, nothing anyone can say will ever sway your opinion on anything.
Hopefully her husband has her sign a prenup. But, most of all, I hope he keeps the kids (Primary Custodial Parent). And I hope he finds her post and it help him!
Good morning early comment readers!
Good morning
Good morning! :3 ☕️
Thank you as always rslash!
Two Hour Drive Mom: Yeah. My daughter tested into a special STEM school & just Graduated High School with her Associates from the State College her High School's Building was at. The extra drive time was very well worth it!
