The worst part about the event was the German words (and trying to pronounce them). Executor’s “humor” is the best. He's just a straightforward man who wants to do his job. This event made me realize Virtuosa is similar to Ho’olheyak. But while Ho’olheyak chases knowledge, Virtuosa chases emotions. Take those away from either of them, and they become lost and scared; like children in the dark.
ikr! It's like the main reason I watch streamers read the story, to see what they think of the event, with all the context they have, but without having to watch the 15h+ VODs
I agree that Arturia's final section felt a little confusing, mostly due to her euphoric sentences. I think it was supposed to mirror the similarities between the Laterano Law from Guide Ahead and the Güldenesgesatz from this event. Andoain changes his approach after learning the truth about the Law. While at first confused about what to do next, he realizes that his goals are not necessarily bad, and that there are different ways to achieve them. Arturia undergoes a similar change. Instead of forcing people to face their emotions in an attempt to rebel against magic based social control, she instead uses her music arts to convey her wishes to the people who listen, working to inspire people while shaping these magic systems from within. The difficult part is that this is a philosophical debate between freedom, control, compassion and safety with no definitive answer. Tl:dr: The story thinks the Witch King was right about everything.
I would like to add that there's a trend of lying in this event both to themselves and others. Fremont bitches about Leithanien constantly but without hesitation was willing to sacrifice his life for the people of it. And the reveal that his so called goal was nonsense was great as the Witch King Otto returned his phylactery to him decades ago before he died even. And it's some of the Dew moments where Otto isn't speaking partially ten steps ahead but is in the present moment. Eben/Franz is of course great and summed up beautifully by Lessing. And just like his grandpa his harsh but sincere words are the key to getting him to actually grow and try to live and move on. To fight against his destiny. Facing the truth of the Witch King that of his great grandfather Otto as an intellectual who was indeed capable of great cruelty even before his downslide but also was someone who was kind and warm towards his family and few friends. That Eben's response is to become someone so great that they associate their family with him before Otto is great. Can't wait to see where he goes from there. Like you said Fede is the comic relief and he's great at it he's just so straightforward that he makes everything intentionally or not a comedy and his few jokes even funnier because it takes a second for you to realize. He's lying to himself the least and ultimately only needed a little push to get where he needed. The Twin Empresses are...interesting. I think I'm actually more a fan of Grim for a multitude of reasons but the sisters are great because they're such different people and even with their intimate knowledge of one another and their shared goal their methodologies and personalities are such that they're basically fated to war against each other. Also the contrast between Grim being harsh but fair with a soft spot is nice. I believe in the baddest goat bitch. Vivi is solid enough but overall her own arc is probably the weakest despite her more than even Ebenholz deluding herself. While I get the point of it and it would have ruined the pacing us never getting to see her father at all weakens it a bit. I think maybe they could have done something like an unlock able mini story or two giving us a bit more on her father and his relationships as well as maybe Micha and his time as Grim's apprentice/assistant and maybe just the Twin Empresses in general? And you nailed Arturia better than I ever could. But yeah its a really good and fairly tightly paced story. It's no Lone Trail but that's the literal peak of Arknights story telling and this event avoided most of Arknights frequent (yet no less tiresome) flaws.
Arturia is the only operator, that when I hear talking, feels like you need to side-eye her often to keep her in check. There's a few voice lines where I'm just thinking "Okay...was that a flirt, an innuendo, a threat or are you just being weird?"
I'm really excited for the next Laterano event, and from the teaser in the 4th PV it will be a banger and we will see more of those two siblings and little girl Cecelia might comeback to fulfil her prophecy
You said exactly what I was thinking, Federico was the moment to catch my breath from all the german words and also get a mini-recap. Otherwise I wouldn't remember what was going on. Also poor Loris, It's always the people who are about to retire who die Ebenholz learning that Kreide died for nothing RIP We also learned that apparently one random guy is reponsible for turning on and off the night lights of the entire Laterano every night lol
Great rundown. I loved the event. When it comes to highly subjective favorite character stuff here I personally connected more with Viviana and ended up being more interested in her than Arturia. So I certainly didn't think she was boring. Big agree on Boris and Executor, they were great together. You just knew he wasn't going to make it when he talked about retiring after the festival... Lately also with the main story Arknights is really eager with killing off great side characters. Cora too. I wish she could have been the free unit or something. It would have been interesting to have more operators or important characters with actual disabilities and how that changes the story and such. But sadly she is no more and for Lemuen we decided to heal her legs... Also big agree on Fremont. When he first showed up I was a bit annoyed. Like oh its going to be yet another randomly op feranmut coming out of nowhere... but nah as the story progressed i did a 180 on him and ended up enjoying him a lot. One set of characters that I want to give a shoutout to, that you didn't get into are the Kaiserinnen, Ewigegnade and Grimmacht. Especially Grimmacht. So maybe I was the only one who thought this but I figured they would just be kinda vague villains. But then they ended up super interesting and not vilains at all (subject to change with Ewigegnade, and certainly not "good guys" either with how aaccepting they are of sacrifices). With how they see themselves, and their designed but still real bond with each other. How they were meant to fall together with the Witch King but then somewhat surplanted the original plan and what were meant to be two puppets ended up being a pair of the most powerful rulers we know. They both have this aura of being a big deal but at the same time seem selfconscious about their origin. Larger than life but still tender in private. Even when they seemingly contradict one another with their actions they still have a tacit understanding and no hostility between them. Grimmacht with the always cool bonus of being outwardly colder and edgier looking but being the kinder and more heroic one on the inside. I just thought that was really cool execution and I don't think ive seen this dynamic much before.
Fremont is my favorites in this event. Poweful, reasonable, make mistake, good, and casually banter in funniest way. It seem he was the most approachable than any Sarkaz's Royal Court member, even more than Ramale. Well, offering a Lich King a contract is not bad idea, Rhodes Island. 😂
Huh didn't know Executor would have such a big role in this... Also we Germans like to put different nouns together to better describe a certain word. That's why some words seem so damn long.
Cora joined the sunken shipyard alongside Gertrude. I don't know why but I always love characters like Loris or Lettou. Old veterans can't catch a break 😢 But yeah, was a surprisingly enjoyable story and getting so much important lore resolved (the whole witch king thing, WHAT) was great. It was funny to have my old german knowledge help understand what all those big words meant. Pretty ballsy of HG to have so many untranslated words like that, well done.
The story overall wasn’t bad. It was the German wording and the long discussions that made me lost interest. But I could tell significant details were added in for what we may see in the near future. I love Arturia though. Her AoE slow and S3 is a must for lane holders who need the enemy units to be slow enough. Also enough of a buff where operators can go toe to toe with elite and boss units. Great addition to the team.
Seeing how much you enjoy the stories made me a bit jealous. I skip the stories because I just can't handle the dialogue. It's like I always missing some pieces and never get the whole picture. Or maybe I'm just missing some braincells.
Everybody: experiencing word shattering event in a pocket dimension Viviana: ... but what if my dad did that, or that, or that .... Viviana barely felt part of the story, she was so wrapped up in herself that she barely contributed anything worthwhile. And the worst dialogue goes to Arturia and the witch King, Kal'tsit is proud of her successors.
"sorry for being late empresses, I would've joined the fight against the Witch King if the therapy session with my void-generated child self didn't take so long"

Federico is the honored one
I firmly believe he can win a debate against Kal'tsit
I like story reviews like this.
More people should talk about Arknights story in a personal and subjective way.
ikr! It's like the main reason I watch streamers read the story, to see what they think of the event, with all the context they have, but without having to watch the 15h+ VODs
Love these lore videos, its really sad how small the content creation scene is
Yeah but at the same time everything feels much more personal. To see fellow people also enjoying arknights.
It's like you're saying the other content creators don't deserve their viewers
@FirasDuqarael I think they mean EiZEN is sharing his thoughts on the story instead of "just" doing a summary, which is cool. It's fun to discuss
It's just global. CN and JP have much higher numbers

Unlike Specter, where you know you NEED to keep both eyes on her.
I'm really excited for the next Laterano event, and from the teaser in the 4th PV it will be a banger and we will see more of those two siblings and little girl Cecelia might comeback to fulfil her prophecy
Imagine they find out Sankta actually a Sarkaz

I can't help but thinking he's like a funfair animator on the merry-go-round.
banger video, really, my favorite Arknights video this whole month (and we had PlusMinus and Supah video recently which were fucking amazing as well)
huge compliment, thx!
Finally, I Got Arturia, she will now go into my support box with Crazy Shark and Snek. Nothing will go wrong, surely.
She's gonna let that seaborn heart speak out
We've got the songstress, now the bard, just need a crazy drummer and a bassist.
I loved the breakdown, do some more!
9:02 Kougaon does lore diving vids on a couple of sidestories. his previous one was 3 months ago
Average Federico W
0:21 "The lore they have given us matters right now or very soon" Right? This felt soo refreshing in a way
Bionicfactory1, he did explain events.
Thank you for telling the story
damn, finally my years learning German got to use in this event XD

I won't be surprised
The fact he's looking for Arturia probably would give him important role since Arturia is like the main character in this event
Cora joined the sunken shipyard alongside Gertrude.

Be The One Eizen...be the one.
Executor channeling his inner astartes. XD.

God I love Fedex

This even tricked me again by putting the boss in 10th stage

Living rain
Arknights giving me good characters to love and then take it away 101....evil ahh story.
Nice
4:10 to feel our child
fremont will appear in is5 too
I stood by my feddy boy long before hokus pokus
Yeah, I don't really remember exactly what he did in Guiding Ahead but I do remember it was really helpful for the good guys
I'm on his side since theory he chased Ambriel for taxes exist
hocus pocus 💀
I feel confused when they make viviana kill cora
Is there really no other way to save her?
also agree sadly we dont have dedicated arknights lore cc
Ok who said arturia is the villain for the past two side story now?😂
I played arknights for a whole year every day, but at some point it just got to much...
Arturia simp
Ah yes my Waifu. Doing GOOD things. REALLY REALLY BAD.
