How we thrashed oats when I was a wee lad. Did it right by the barn and then the straw was picked up with the hay fork and taken up in the hay mound loosely same as the hay. Didn’t start bailing until 62 or 63. The tractor pulls I enjoyed most was when the county fairs had them and some of the local farmer did it for bragging rights. It was about 1964 one of the neighbors put his V8 from his family car in a Massy to try and beat everyone. The guys running the show didn’t like his rig because it went about 25 miles a hour down the track. Was fun to watch. I don’t care for the commercial pullers with their souped up rigs.
When the tractors were pulling as if they come out of the field, that's when pulling was best. Now, everyone modifies tractors for pulling, and the outcome of pulling is usually equal to the dollars they put into the tractors. I like the threshing a lot.
Wow, that mill really plows the log through the head saw. Is the speed variable with the hydraulic operated carriage or is it just one speed? Is that your brother being the sawyer that day? Thanks for another good video!
looks like lots of power there
Yes there is!

Carriage feed is powered by a hydraulic motor. I prefer the Hecock belt drive as it's much smoother than hydraulics
