Watching the flashback scene of the final performance reminded me of my youth in club activities during my school days I was moved to hear ZikiTTK talk about her memories from her time in the drama club, and to know that she had the exact same thoughts while watching the show This work has the mysterious power to bring back memories of one's own youth through the images of Kumiko and her friends in their youth, and to intersect reality with the work. It's a really beautiful piece of work, I love it, and I'm grateful for it
Due to various circumstances, it took nine years to complete. There is a spin-off of the original novel that was recently released, so I would like to see a new movie or OVA as well.
ahaha oh how i cried so much with you throughout this finale, thx for sharing your lovely thoughts as always! i'm gonna miss this show so much since i basically grew up with it, and as much as i don't want it to end, the ending turned out marvelous nonetheless. finally getting gold for nationals after so long really made all the wait worth it, so happy to see every one of the characters cry happily, and also seeing grown up Kumiko made my tears into rivers! bless KyoAni for everything, i will always love this show with all my heart, forever remain in my top most-loved animes!! :'))
Sorry for the long text (again LOL), but this is the finale, so...please bear with me 😅 I have so many things to say. First of all, i started this 2-3 months ago, but even tho i wasn't following the seris since 2015 like many, this still hit me. S1 hooked me, S2 was good too, and when i caught up with the movies and the OVA, S3 was starting (i think it had like 2-3 eps at the time), but maaan....what a journey. This finale would not have the same impact if it was the previou season. Like, this was a FINALE. Of course, like many people, i also agree we could have more, but since this was their decision, i won't complain. The characters in this show felt so real. All of them. Even in situation most people got annoyed at (like Yuuko in S1 or Reina in S3) you can really picture happening in real life. Kumiko is SUCH AN AWESOME CHARACTER. I remember watching S1 and seeing all these comments saying she was amazing and all that, but at the time i was thinking "they're exagerating. She's good but not all that", but no man....she IS all that. Even if she's not my favorite from the show (3rd place after Yuuko and my best girl Mizore LOL), i recognize her character brings life to this story. There is a reason the story revolves around her. I know people complained a lot about this season in general (changes and cuts) but i do kinda wonder if the lack of performance really was due to what happened to the studio years ago. If it is, it's totally understandable....but being honest? I don't NEED to see a whole performance like in previous seasons to get emotional....man, just listening to this ep while seeing the flashbacks was enough. Seeing how all these characters changed and, even tho they still have failures, they developed as a person, was really touching to see. It's like seeing children slowly growing into adults....every story the author does this right, it's incredibly emotional to witness. And like i said in the chat, seeing Kumiko play would be great? Yes, it would. It was NECESSARY? Not exactly. Mayu playing (and their decision overall to change this) i think it was also a form of "saving" her character...all of her trauma, her insecurities in the band....Kumiko saved her FROM ALL THAT in last ep. Dang man, Kumiko is like a hero. And let's be honest.....even tho people got mad last ep, i'm pretty sure most people got happy that they won the gold this time LOL In year 1 (with Haruka, Kaori and Asuka as the main leaders in the club) we didn't get it.....in year 2 (with Yuuko and Natsuki as the leaders) we also didn't get it...now, in year 3 (with Kumiko, Reina and Shuichi as leaders) we FINALLY GOT IT. I don't wanna say who's superios here, but seeing how Kumiko as a leader was able to bring the club to this level is.....incredible. Idk man...i feel like the more i talk about Kumiko, the more i like her character hahah Even tho i'm not the biggest Asuka fan (and i began this series with her as my favorite LOL), but still, i think if there was one person who should be here to witness all this was her. Like, the whole "Sound Euphonium", literally THE NAME OF THE SHOW, is based on her song....this started with her. Well, at least Haruka, Kaori, Yuuko and Natsuki were here. Idk...all those photos in the end really got me emotional. Seeing Mayu crying too...like, all this was the CONFIRMATION that her and Kumiko's efforts weren't in vain. It was refreshing. I really liked the one with Kumiko, Mayu and Reina hahaha they were good in that one. Also the one with the teacher just jumping happily at them. And one of the most important moments in the ep for me: a lot of peope were theorizing what Kumiko would do with Asuka's song in the end, and many wanted to see her passing to Kanade, who is her legit "sucessor"....but seeing how she also invited Mayu and all 3 of them played together was, again, touching LOL THAT i wanted to see...tbh, i wished i could see that more than the performance itself. And i agree that, while it would be emotional to see them playing this in the performance itself, this specific song was something that was like a "secret" to them, meaning that only the chosen ones could learn it (in this case, Kumiko, Mayu and Kanade). There is something even SPIRITUAL in this whole "sucessor" thing...it's like something that transcends time itself. Asuka passed to Kumiko - Kumiko passed to Kanade - Kanade will pass to someone. Heck, i'm getting emotional just typing this LMAO Anyway, this show was absolute GREAT. It wasn't perfect (i really am not a fan of yuri OR yuri bait), but the story overall and the characters were awesome. Only poor thing was my boy Shuichi...till today a few people think Kumiko x Reina was the official ship, but nah....Reina is into old man if you know what i mean LOL Also, I SAW THAT BROOCH IN THE END LOL Shuichi got the girl hahaah (the brooch he gave her in the movie, and she said if after all that, he still liked her, he should give to her again....well, apparently he did). But srly now, seeing how our girl turned into a splendid and beautiful woman in the end was tear-jerking. She passed through so much stuff, suffered and matured as a person, and now she will lead the next generation. AND SHE'S CONFIDENT, YOU SAW HER WALK hahah I'll tell you this: there is NO OTHER CHARACTER better than her to lead people and have a teacher role. She was basically born to do this. I'm so proud of her character....she really is a 10/10 MC. In the end, when she comes in the class, and she spot a girl just like her in the club....it's the whole legacy thing. This is sooooo good. PS: some people said, just like they did with S1 and S2, that they might make a recap movie, but now showing extra content and all the performances they cut this season. Who knows.
That was best possible ending. Hard work pays off but sometimes in different ways. Kumiko ends up doing what she loved.
I love watching these videos of people crying with Eupho. Make me feel at home. ❤
