- In today's video, it's a box battle between 2023-24 Panini Select and Prizm Basketball Hanger Boxes. I've got four boxes of each for a total of $90 for each product, and I want to see who will win this box battle.
While we're at it, I want to touch on a topic a recent TH-cam influencer brought up concerning opening wax and posting content. Is there something more nefarious going on with your favorite TH-camr?
The Select Hanger boxes sell for $22-30 a box. Each box contains 1 20-card pack. Look for a variety of prizm parallels including the ultra rare Tiger and Zebra, as well as numbered cards Blue Tectonic(#'d/99), Teal White Pink(#'d/49), Tie Dye(#'d/25), Gold Tectonic(#'d/10), Gold(#'d/10), , Green(#'d/5), Black White Gold(1-of-1's), and Black Finitie(1-of-1's). Chase after autographs such as Youth Explosion Signatures and Selection Committee Signatures. Insert sets span the likes of Neon Icons, Thunder Lane, Lodestar, and Select Certified.
The Prizm Hanger boxes sell for $22 at Walmart. Each box contains 1 20-card pack. Expect to find 3 exclusive Orange Ice Prizms per box on average. Look for non-numbered parallels in Silver, Green, Orange Ice, and the SP Glitter. The hangers offer up one SSP numbered card in the brand new White Ice Prizm(#'d/35). Look for Rookie Penmanship and Penmanship autographs, as well as inserts such as Emergent, Deep Space, and Global Reach.
Both Prizm and Select highlights the new rookie class of Victor Wembanyama, Scoot Henderson, Brandon Miller, Keyonte George, Jamie Jaquez, and Ausar and Amen Thompson.

@huxbux I mean, I think it would be silly to think there aren't. No matter what TH-cam content people are invested in, there will always be those who only share the good. Much like Facebook for a lot of people. You only see their vacations...lol.

I got the Charles Barkley, Victor Wembanyama 1->2 punch out of my last prizm hanger box. My first wave of select hangers were OK, pulled one blue tectonic /99 and 1 numbered card but out of my boxes since then I haven't pulled a single number. I haven't even pulled any courtside cards. All my crappy boxes get posted to my channel, I wish I had enough boxes to only post good ones.
I'm more and more becoming a believer in 1st Wave. Select was bonkers at release. Not so much anymore.

I don't know if he was thinking of one person. I'm sure he had several in mind enough that he felt motivated to call it out. It's something I've felt exists, too. RGL just had the cahonies to say it.
@@huxbux LOL yes he did! I can think of one youtuber who I think only posts big hits and acts like this was his only rip. I also believe in the first wave theory besides the Optic Basketball for this year lol. Select basketball this year was for sure front loaded!
@donnyleonard8576 First wave feels like a thing in most Panini products. It's impossible to prove or near impossible. I wouldn't put it past a company to conduct business like a drug dealer. "First hit is free"

The Card God's Taketh Away 🙏 It is hard to come up with titles if you're relying on "insane crazy monster pull". I try and often fail to make my titles around the product and not the results.
Cool theory
I try and upload unboxing videos and I post whatever I get regardless. Especially cuz each vid I make costs like $100. I like seeing people post the bad rips so others are actually getting a good look at the possible outcomes of spending $500 on a box. I don't think he was talking about Sky B, he has a bad rip at least once a week
I can't fathom selectively posting vids, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. There's a certain level of vanity baked into having a youtube channel to begin with. If anyone does do it, they have to have deep pockets.

Sky b I would hate to live in his town because no way he dosent clear the shelf. But he is probably 21 and lives in his moms basement no way you can afford this with a family. Atleast I can't. If this is his job he's got to do what he has to do.

Yeah, I think RGL thinks quite highly of himself. The guys i watch ripping, from packman to yourself, seem to get bad rips. I dunno.
I do like RGL quite a bit. He has opinions and he's entertaining in a YT niche that's sorely lacks it imo.

Like sky b cards. I watched his stuff a lot. I've seen him go through like 20 mega boxes or a whole case of blaster boxes and for the most part he would absolutely bomb in his rip. So sky b I don't think does stuff like that and I'm not saying you're saying he is. I'm using him as an example of a guy who sometimes gets completely ripped off for all the money he puts into ripping cards

@@huxbux I attended a couple of his whatnot shows lately and that guy is making money handling fist but you know he does have a lot of rips that are bad so he's taking losses there but still he's got so many cards at in the end. He's making a living off all that ripping. Plus all this actual members he has that are paying members definitely helps

It's an interesting throught. It's easy to think that it's non stop hits but if you cherry pick the videos based on only doing well you're not showing the real side of the hobby and more likely drawing people in who may not have the means to collect. If it is who shall remain nameless I've completely lost interest in his content. I've found his to be increasinly more smug......
Big question here is why does it matter what people upload. Its all entertainment. People getting upset that some breakers only upload the good breaks, yet if said individuals did upload the crappy breaks, it still wouldnt stop everyone wasting their money in paying these prices on the boxes.
True, at the end of the day, it probably wouldn't stop someone from buying wax. But it might influence what wax they buy. If I bought the worst retail product to ever exist and only uploaded the one or two good openings out of 20, it might make someone run out of buy it.
Most YT card openings are product reviews whether intentional or not. People, in part, watch to decide if they should buy it or not. From that perspective, I think it does matter that we give people honest looks at products.
