    A note for family and friends helping a bride choose a dress: don't say a word until the bride does. If the bride seems to love the dress and you think it is even remotely acceptable, then you just shut your mouth and let the bride love their dress. Don't be the one who plants that little seed of insecurity that makes them think they don't look beautiful.

      True. This is not about her being unpleasant. It is about her wanting a dress that only exist in her mind and her, even though with a great budget, not being able to think that she should just custom make it and also if she has (and she does) high end connections, she could have at least finagle a design of her liking and then have a budget friendly seamstress make it for her with affordable fabrics. Her attitude of wanting something that didn't exist was not bad it was just that she wanted something and did not think of the obvious way for her to get it.

      Yeah, some people simply find it harder to find things they like. I myself am similar to that, I will be nice to anyone I work with but will have my own strong preferences. The good thing is that once I find something I like, I stick to it for a very long time and also do not end up overbuying items I will have no use for.

    • @Ephyne
      @Ephyne ปีที่แล้ว +76

      This! But in this case, she wasn’t getting carried away-The blush ballgown was it! You could hear it in her comments as she was trying it on (“THIS is a bride dress.”) and see it in her face as she was walking in & in how she was playing with it when she saw herself in the mirror. It was elegant, soft, & demure like her, but still unique & dramatic. She turned around all smiling & lit up, but then her sister or whoever made that face, and you can literally see the winds of happiness leave her sails as the light in her eyes fades. You can see her heart drop as she begins to backpedal her emotions & rationalize her way out of loving the dress she naturally & emotionally connected to… The only thing missing that she was looking for was the veil to drive home the fact that she’s a bride!
      It’s kind of heartbreaking to read some of these comments critical of her, because she is not a picky bride at all! If anything, she is a bride who lets others’ opinions walk all over her decisions. She is a very respectful and sensitive bride with high standards who knows what she wants, but she’s inadvertently repressing her deeper desires & emotions and internalizing less than ideal outcomes as personal flaws with self-criticism instead of seeing the situation for what it really is (which is trying to lower her bar to avoid making people uncomfortable and pleasing others before pleasing herself)-Likely because she cares very much about others & holds her loved ones’ opinions in high regard, because she’s used to thinking with her head over feeling with her heart on a daily basis in her economic role & demanding line of work, and because she’s so used to regularly pleasing others in addition to or instead of herself.
      Too bad her sister didn’t realize there is a big difference between her usual day-to-day preferences versus her less obvious inner dreams & special preferences for a very special & far from usual day, else she probably would have curbed her criticism in light of a different perspective. It’s such a shame that neither her sister, nor the reps, nor anybody else was observant enough to be able to see any of that & try to redirect her to the right headspace… She was so close to getting what she really wanted, but her reactions were too subtle for others to pick up on & help her cinch the deal properly.
      Oh, the curses of being an analytical, sensitive introvert!

      Secondly, these consultants work at Kleinfeld, and they get large commissions from lots of brides. The dresses usually start at $2000. So they are not working this bride for the money when the next bride can buy a dress during the next appointment. Just maybe, maybe this consultant wants this bride to be happy because it is literally her job. Don't project what YOU do onto other people just because you want them to be chasing the money like you may do.

She was too into what others thought instead of having her own moment. In the end, the dress she did wear was nothing special, it was very normal bridal dress. I do not know if it was custom or else she ran out of time and bought something that was ritzy looking within her budget.

      She's pretty indecisive, one minute she loves the dress, the next she starts second guessing, then she tries another one, she loves it, then the cycle repeats over again. It's a bit irritating but I get it I'm also indecisive when it comes to clothes, not that this has got anything to do with this but I remember when I was at the mall choosing my dress to wear under my graduation gown for my high school graduation about nearly 3 years now, my mom was with me looking at dresses with me. We pulled like at least a handful of 5 pretty ones that I liked and believe me I took a while in the dressing room trying to decide which one I would buy while trying them on 😂😂😂 With this bride though it kind of feels like she's kind of insecure, she cares so much about fabric, quality, silhouette, beading, how it makes her look, etc. I understand that she wants everyone else's approval but it's about what she wants and by the looks of it at the end her entourage approved of the last dress yet she couldn't say yes and honestly it broke my heart a bit because she looked amazing in that last dress. Maybe she just needs some time to think and go back to find her dream dress.

I work within the film world, and if I want to relax while enjoying a story like I used to it has to be a book, cause I can’t relax while watching movies anymore. Especially mediocre or bad ones. My brain is too busy picking it apart, rather then just enjoying it. There's nothing wrong with it, but she'd have to admit it to herself. Her sister, on the other hand, didn't seem to relate well to her sister's choice and her opinion seemed to bear a lot of weight. So, if she just wants a basic tanktop from a regular store, she can go through 50 tops if she wants before ending up buying one between 5 and 50 dollars, but if she goes to select a dress for several 1000 Dollars, she is supposed to just try 2 or 3?

      I searched Lauren Tahvilian and found her actual wedding dress which I feel is horrendous compared to the ones she tried on in the show. She should have just gone with what made her happy (That ball gown looked STUNNING on her) but instead she relied too heavily on her sister's opinion. This led to her selecting a wedding gown that is 3/10 max for her wedding day.

The dress looked like it was straight with lace going down from just above about the knees, and with a long train. The other beading or whatever was hard to see in the picture.
      Ultimately, the problem was bride's own indecisiveness. She wasn't clear at all on what she wanted, because if she was, they could have found her something like what she ultimately chose during her appointment.

    Kleinfeld claims they need to exceed the budget of 10 000$ to find something up to bride's taste yet Gok can satisfy even the pickiest bride with his ~2500$ dresses. Why is that? The dresses in Australian version are so much nicer and cheaper...

    • @catladyfromky4142
      @catladyfromky4142 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      These kind of brides would not set foot in the Lancashire shop because it does not have the 'high end" designers that they crave. And just because YOU like them does not mean that they would like them too.
      The Lancashire shop does not have Pnina Tornai but has Essence of Australia. Those are at opposite ends of the bridal price point spectrum. E.o.A. is beautiful, and I like all those dresses too. But the fabric is not high end, and it does not contain couture details. A bride like this would not like E.o.A. for these reasons. That is exactly why these brides go to Kleinfeld (or even Confetti and Lace in England), and your ignoring these facts seems suspicious.
      Gok is awesome, but he doesn't choose the dresses in his shop. And those dresses ARE cheaper because of the designers, not because of Gok. It is hilarious that you think that Gok would make all these other brides happy just "because Gok is so awesome" when this bride would pick apart the Lancashire dresses without even trying them on. Why? Because she is a "high end buyer" with a $10,000 budget, and none of those dresses would even come close to what she would be looking for.

Using good quality silks, satins, lace, or tulle. For instance, lots of cheap lace is scratchy. I am quite sure that a seamstress can come up with more instances where you can see quality or lack thereof.
