In this video she talks about how her friend is put out because it seems like the highest makeup artists on TH-cam only do better than her because they are gay men. Not that they could have earned that position. Just being an oppressed minority is all they needed. Or, in a personal experience, a good friend of mine and I were talking and I asked him if he saw two identical resumes, mine, and a white woman, who would he hire. He said her, because how knows she'd be on time and always come to work. We'd worked together for more than a year, I was also in college and had another job. But I'm black, so he was taught not to trust my work ethic. THAT is micro aggression. We go through it all the time and I'd be interested in hearing The Fam's opinions and reaction to what she has to say and her experiences

I can only give you examples that I've been through, because while I know a lot of other women, or minorities have been through the same things, assuming everyone has isn't fair. My father and I get on an elevator and a white woman clutches her purse. Or I walk into a store with a white friend and I get followed around and she doesn't. A friend tells her stepdad she's coming over to my house. I live in a quiet, family oriented neighborhood and my parents have owned this home for thirty years as do most of the families here. He was worried about her "safety" in my neighborhood because we're black. At work I have been constantly corrected or interrupted, and I can push back and be called "angry black woman" for standing up for myself, or they're surprised at my intelligence because they don't expect me to be college educated, or they don't understand why I'm angry when they call me the "exception". The racism is imbedded so deep that they don't realize what those actions imply about their judgement. Those are micro aggressions.
