Kind of surreal seeing that emu arrive on unelectrified track and not seeing the locomotive at the other end plus hearing the compressor, I travelled on these units as a teenager to Rochester to buy Lima locos from the signal box model railway store in the early nineties
The train you rode on is a Class 411 4 BEP, formerly based at Fratton, an EMU not a DEMU Thumper, but I note they did have one there. I was a Minder Driver Training new drivers handling techniques on the main line on the South Eastern
👍 Thank you for the correction. Mistaking it for a class 205 on the video. I did not know the class 411 was based at Fratton. Me being from the western region. Thank you for your comment. 👍.
@@ijdt1867 that particular one was a Fratton based unit, the 4 BEPs were all South Western based, the South Eastern did away with their BEPs in 1980 when the 411 fleet went for refurbishment at Swindon works, returning them as 4 CEPs, the buffet cars had blue asbestos in them, they were all parked up around the back of the works, loco hauled coaches were converted to TSOs to replace the Buffet car, whst we got back was an absolute travesty, they were downright awful, terrible job done, so bad infact that the South Eastern wouldn't accept them in the condition they sent them back in and all went back to Swindon for rework. All of the CEPs, same class 411, were based at Ramsgate. When stuff started being replaced a few went to the South Western, where they ruined them, swapping motor bogies with others, they returned to Ramsgate in 2004 and by 2005 they were down to 3 x 4 CEPs all went en block in July 2005, hastily dispatched for scrapping, they were wiped out within months.
👍Yes I found that out later on after I put this video up on youtube. I was not sure at the time. Thank you for correction. It would be nice seeing class 37042 back in action again in it's glory. I would go back to see it.👍
That 37 should be restored to work the main line, the Tractors are the most reliable Engine on UK Tracks, still going strong 60 years after they were built.
Looks like a lovely little place! I've probably travelled on one of those old SWT/NSE ones.
👍. I remembered them in the NSE.
Beautiful heritage railway, so peaceful. Unfortunately a bit too far for me to get to!
Greetings from Norfolk, looking forward to getting back up to Cumbria in a fortnights time.
Lovely place to visit. Have a safe journey.👍

Looks good, would love to see you drive the diesel.
that's on the bucket list Malcolm.🤔👍
Nice video, likes from me!
37042 according to their web site is awaiting restoration, arriving at Warcop in April 2011. Hope they get it done!

Don’t think the 37 is a spares donor. They don’t have a seccond for it to give parts too
Is this Warcop ?
Yes indeed.

It is just starting to be restored
Still today the class 37s. Eventually It will the in future (37042). I Hope 🤞👍.
