    Just got myself a batch of ogors! And this guide made skin so easy! I did tweak it a bit to fit my colourscheme, but I'm totally in love with painting them! Subbed!

    Great video. I painted my Ogors in a similar fashion with a combination of brush and airbrush. Love the models, as they are super relaxing to paint

    Hi, what paints did you use for his belly-plate? I bought like 10 different Citadel metallics and can't say is Ogor Mawtribes cover art miniatures have hashut copper or Skullcrusher Brass or something else?

    Hey man, I love your tutorials. I'm a beginner and following along has taught me a lot. Any advice on how you would paint ogres with a pale blue skin tone? I wanted to make a homebrew clan that lives in arctic conditions

      Hey! Welcome to the hobby :D
      yeah if you use this tutorial you should be able to do something like:
      Hoth Blue, Blue horror, White as the three color choices.
      I hope that helps you out and thank you so much for watching our tutorials :)

      @@OscarLars Thanks dude, I really appreciate it. I know that with a lot of things making a call on the colours comes with experience, but I don't feel confident in wasting money on a hunch until I know what I'm doing. Would any white like a corax white do?

    • @OscarLars

      I understand that completely, corax White would work great. :)

    U probably cover this in other vids, but how much do you thin down your paints?

    • @OscarLars
      @OscarLars  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think my paints much. It’s gives better coverage and color. But you need to make sure you smooth out the paint and don’t leave it lumpy anywhere, especially around detail. But this also is based in the fact that my paints aren’t thick to begin with.

  • @benrichardson5662

    My issue is that when I thin my paint enough to layer up, it gathers in patches, ruining the transition. Either that or it's too thick and the transition is non-existent. It's honestly very frustrating. Any thoughts on how this might be remedied?

    • @OscarLars
      @OscarLars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ben!
      Hmm, are you using a wet palette? It honestly sounds like your having a hard time finding the sweet spot of consistency. The patch problem likely comes from using too much water when you thin the paint. It splits the pigments.
      I like to mix in a bit of airbrush flow improver into my paints. It thins them a bit and helps with slowing the dry time of the acrylic paints. You can try that and see if it helps!
      Best of luck!

    • @OscarLars

      Its a pencil grip. Helps to reveal pain while I paint on days my hands cramp extra.

    how does he get those good transitions between the bugman's flesh and the rest of the other colors. looks likes its sprayed on but i literally see the brush! mine comes out all rigid and almost cell shaded

    • @OscarLars
      @OscarLars  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey man, I'm sorry you're not having much luck with your painting application.
      Lets see if I can help.
      The technique here is layering effect so it won't be as smooth as wet blending. This tutorial is not meant for that outcome but for batch painting armies, just at a higher quality.
      The trick to making the stages of layering less noticeable is to make the space between layer "2" (example) and "3" thin and consistent. For maximum efficiency of the technique its counting on the fact that the application is done delicately enough to trick the eye. It won't do so fully, but the illusion comes from the eye not having obvious inconsistent spots to rest on.
      If you're looking for smoother blends I'd recommend checking out Sam Lenz, Vince Venturella, and other painters that work more frequently with wetblending techniques and make painting tutorial more geared towards painting individual models rather than armies.
      I hope this answers your question. If it doesn't, please don't hesitate to send me a picture of your model to me on Instagram or Twitter and I can see better what you're referring too.
      Best

    At first I was a huge "I will follow GW videos and never mix paints" dude but since that looked like shit on my hands I adopted one of the squidmar's tutorials as religion. It definetely looks better but still not as smooth as yours Oscar hehe I better get better on painting skin or my Gotrek will be forever grey!

    • @OscarLars
      @OscarLars  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much dude! I appreciate your approval of our videos. I'm glad you're deciding to step out of your comfort zone to venture into doing more mixing of paint. It truly opens the door to many more possible outcomes than sticking to rigid ways of painting. Tag me in your results!

  • @theangler1922

    Just curious to why you don't use a wash to reach a similar effect for much less work?

    • @OscarLars
      @OscarLars  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Fiche Chips that’s a very good question! The reason is that you can’t control a wash fully. What the wash will do is to leave a film on top of the surfaces that will have an inconsistency that can satisfy many painters, it does for me a lot of the time. But for a focal point like the skin is for ogors, I tend to avoid washes most of the time to get a better quality result :) I hope that answers your question.
