    Bought mine 2 years ago .. like them very much .. there are some bad and good on these.. the goods is that they do resist extreme cold weather . I have two outside and they have never turned off .. the bad is that the app sometimes does lag or doesn't let you see all playbacks , I only have them on motion sensor , and I haven't tried recording continuously .

    I do not have internet at my house , with the router can I use the app to view from my phone , I work nights and that is in when id like to get motion alerts ,and be able to view live steam ,Thanks in advance ,,I hope I asked that right.

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the cameras use their own wifi to connect to the hard drive, and your internet is what you use to connect it from your phone to the cameras. I believe you need internet with a router at your house to make it work with your phone. Otherwise it just records the camera data and you have to review the videos when you get home. I’m pretty sure you need a router to plug the cameras hard drive into to view it remotely (from work on your phone)

    How screwed are if you don't conveniently have an electrical box and outlet 13:35 already installed on each corner of your home? Not everybody does....My first impression was based off of the photo on the box showing ONE camera plugged in to an outlet, it says wireless SYSTEM, meaning starting with wireless cameras!!!!!! plug in one and send signals to the other 3 cameras. I bought the system with that impression on clearance priced at $98 about a year ago and now finding a could be necessity for it. I'll figure something out and get back to you guys. smh

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage

    • @AppalachianAdventures8556

      @@dannyjohnsonsgarage Extension cords and conduit would be a grind I have no interest in. It's just sickening thinking you have what you need and get that reality check. I'm waiting on an e-mail response from night owl about doing a full unopened box system ( watched videos first) :) for a system with battery powered cameras. Can't hurt to ask.

  • @lisaryan4086
    @lisaryan4086 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So it is not completely wireless since you have to plug into power. What do you do if you connect these to the upper level of your home and the closest outlet to plug into is way down on the ground? Is the wired power cord that long like 20 ft or more?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lisa Ryan Correct, wireless refers to the transmission and not the power. It is better than having batteries you would have to constantly swap out.
      In your case you’ll need an extension cord to reach the outlet.

    Hi Danny, Great video! I want to buy this system, but I have a couple of questions:
    1. How easy are they to install?
    2. Can this be connected to a monitor, so shoppers see 4 way split screen when inside of my store (theft deterrent)?
    3. How many hours of footage can be recorded and how long is the footage saved for?
    Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marika Browne
      Yes, I connected this to my 32” TV through the HDMI cord. I can’t remember if the cord was included or if I used my own. It will show the screens split into 4 or individually.
      The memory is pretty long with a terabyte, and just records over the oldest videos once it runs out of memory. It seems to last more than a month of footage.
      The setup is exactly as shown in this video. Not too hard.

    I can buy a single wireless camera and install it with a microsd card ? So I have to run a wire to connect it to my router? Or can it be done through WiFi? Sorry just confused, bought a logi circle but it’s not recording just whenever I open the app it’ll record but that defeats the purpose as I can’t have to app open 24/7

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jairo Borrero With the sd card you will be recording onto that card usually without any way to access the data until you pull the card. I would imagine you would be able to record until it runs out of memory and it will record over itself once it does, or perhaps a setting that records only motion.
      With these cameras they plug into a power source and then relay the information via their own wifi back to the hard drive. If you want to access the information from your phone you then need a router at your house so they have a way to communicate it to your phone. Otherwise these just plug in and record and you check that data when you get home

    • @JB-wp4nu
      @JB-wp4nu 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Danny Johnson thank you for your help !! Yeah I don’t mind it recording over itself as if something were to happen I’d pull the sd card out and view it. Do you have to manually delete the hard drive after it fills up? Or Does it just start recording over from the beginning? Thanks

    I've installed mine and I can see it remotely through any computer even through my iPhone through web-browser (like safari) BUT NOT through freaking NightOwl X app. I can see it only when I am on the same network as router. No remotely! Again, it is not the phone because I can access/see the port (NVR) I opened, but not through the application. Do you know anything about this! It is making me crazy. Their support kind of sucks. Please let me know.

      I just did an update on my iPhone and it’s making it very difficult for the app to work (but its working). The night owl app works but not the night owl xd

      That's a lot of storage, so I would suggest changing the record options to motion only so it isn't constantly recording. Otherwise, that's about the best it will do for the hard drive size

    If someone stills the hard drive does your phone store the last video?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rottingboards I would guess not. You can download videos from the app to your phone, but that’s probably the best you’d get. If someone takes the hard drive they probably have everything (unless you go for a cloud option). Not sure that’s an option for these

      Tim Evans I’m not sure. Mine hasn’t done that. Perhaps you can try resetting it with the pin, or call their customer support.

      K'Lynn Rollins The red is the infrared lights, so they come on when it detects darkness

      Look for a small pin sized hole on the camera. You’ll do what is called a hard reset that way by pushing it with a pin

      It plugs in for power, but you don’t have a line going from the camera to the hard drive like most do. It’s wireless on the connection
