A common cause of finger pain that no youtuber talks about (I figured it out myself) is old strings. A guitar's string is exposed to a high tension so it tends to stretch and get skinny and rigid over time which is why older strings feel painful to press down. One should replace their string once every few months.

The whole area means the distance between one metal piece to the other metal piece is not "Fret"..Fret is the metal piece only!
