How do you like them apples? 🍎
11:15 - Yeah, we know . . . we all know . . . and we all wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment. Don't worry, you're not being dramatic. 🥺😭
As soon as you mentioned your love for Robin Williams I knew this was going to be a special one. Glad you like it, cheers!
THE BEST OF THE BEST
I grew up near Boston during the time period this film was set. Like you already noted, the genuineness of the friendships was perfectly captured and it's one of the highlights of the film. I especially loved how the guys pitched together to get Will a car. His reaction to the gift, calling it the ugliest car he has ever seen, shocks some reactors as being an insult. You, however, realize how much he was touched by what his friends had done for him. This was actually a tender moment.
Boston is a funny city. It has more college students than any city in the world and there's also lots of "old money" and many of New England's wealthiest families. However, it's also a genuine blue collar city where working class people are proud and don't tolerate snobs. This is exemplified in the scene where the professor goes searching for Will. When the assistant doesn't like the tone of Will's supervisor, he emphasizes that the man is speaking to "Professor" Lambeau. Rather than be more respectful, the guy turns to his buddy and says, "This is Professor Hayes." Just another example of perfect writing in this film. Glad you liked it as much as I do.
Hi Stefan, I´m a 58 year old guy from Belgium and I´ve seen almost every reaction on YT on this beautiful movie (the monologues! the dialogues! the acting - so real!!) Yours is one of the best reactions, sincere and suiting.
Great reaction! What always amazes me about this film, is that Matt and Ben wrote the screenplay in their early 20s. Robin read the script and loved it. The studio wanted to cast 2 more well known actors than Matt and Ben. Robin refused to do the film without them and took a pay cut to get it made. RIP Robin.❤❤❤
Considered to be the breakout acting roles for both Damon and Affleck and they both won an Oscar for the writing! Wonderful heartfelt reaction, I never expect less from the Captain!
Robin was such a great actor! Two of my favorite Robin films (hard to choose) are Mrs. Doubtfire and Bicentennial Man.
Damen was picked for Saving Private Ryan before this because he was an unknown at the time, he then made Good Will Hunting which came out before SPR. GWH made him a house hold name probably to the annoyance of Spielberg lol. Because Saving Private Ryan was such a huge production to complete GWH ended up being filmed and released before SPR
Wil was afraid to fail but he also felt he didn’t deserve success and love.
Glad you enjoyed!
The Departed is another great movie set in Boston. Damon is also in that.
Along with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg and more.
Directed by Scorsese.
that sounds really good actually
Feel the same about Robin! The first VHS video gift I ever got from family friends in the UK was flubber when I was like 8. Jumanji was also awesome.
Robin Williams RIP. (Mrs Doubtfire)
Rip to the GOAT
Ahoy Cap'n! Hope you had a great New Years, glad to see you back! This movie is an absolute masterpiece and you're 100% dead on about that monologue from Robin Williams where he reads Wil like a book. Shit is amazing. Fun fact about this movie, the scene where Robin Williams talks about his wife farting was completely improvised and the laughter from Matt Damon was real. In fact, go watch it back and you'll notice the camera shaking during the scene because the camera man was laughing so hard, too! There will never be another actor like RW. Cheers, matey.
Hahahah Robin was just built different that’s for sure! Miss his energy 🥹
Great movie! Great reaction! Love to see you locked in to ALL the really important dialogue. There are so many that need to be looked at and heard and really understand what is being said or even not said. “Fuck it. I’m willing to give it a shot”
If you love Robin Williams, I recommend What Dreams May Come (be prepared with tissues!). Thank you for sharing!
I literally have only watched it twice, not because I didn't love it.. But each time it really impacted me.
I’ll put it on the list!
Insightful reaction. Highly re-watchable movie, even just for the performances. If you love Robin Williams, you've gotta check him out in World's Greatest Dad, a brilliant dark comedy.
Not sure you are into romcoms but Minnie Driver in Return to Me is one of the best. You would love her in that.
I’ll look into it 👀
APPLESAUCE!!!
I am before the reaction of its not your fault scene. And i know ! That now you are insulting Will but when the scene will play you are gonna empathize him. Its a fact. Always!
I really enjoy your reactions ;)
You should contiue the Die hard franchise : Die hard 2 is also set at christmas and die hard 3 is the best ^^
Also don't forget to get the "special edition/director's cut" for ALIENS which is even better than the first one and is as scary and stressful than the first one ;)
Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms yo
**but Chuckie freakin' rules**
Your references are out of control everyone knows that
As you like Tom Hanks movies I was wondering if you've watched Big?
I have not but it’s on the list !
@@CaptainTinny you’ll definitely enjoy it. Looking forward to it. Have a great day.
Grew up 20 minutes north of Boston. The penultimate Boston Slang - "Wicked Pissah, kid"
Always running into a few Barney’s myself
I think you meant to say ultimate. Penultimate makes absolutely no sense in that context.
