Rainbow Black and Glass hotel sound really good, adding both of those :) I read Only this beautiful moment earlier this fall and was looking up other works by the author Abdi Nazemian, and I remember seeing a book called Like a love story by him that had really good ratings and reviews. I haven't read it but it's set in NY in the late 80s and dealing with the aids crisis as well. Maybe not as a new thing, but sort of in it. I think it's YA, but so was the book I read, and it did read like it but not in a too young way... maybe a little bit simplified but still... clear if that makes sense. I love that you changed "traditional" into what you really meant! And I totally get what you mean about the banned books, I haven't read that book but as an outsider (of the US) it is crazy to me that that is even a thing, completely wild. I'm not surprised and there are definitely "traditional" people everywhere, but it's a lot deeper than putting fake books in a free little library. Yey, let's hide and disguise and giggle about it? Great plan. Problem solved.

Thanks for the book recs!! I will definitely be looking those up. Haha yeah after I said traditional, I was watching it back and was like hmm yeah that’s too subtle hahaha. Yes exactly, book banning and the things that lead to it are much more serious than this book portrays, and it rubbed me the wrong way for sure!

I'm curious about The Book of Essie. I grew up in the same homeschool group as the Duggars (although thankfully not on reality TV!).
I'm super excited for The Paradise Problem! I think I'm second in line at the library.

If you have not read ‘And The Band Played On! It is a very good book about the start of the AIDS academic. Also the movie - made before Philadelphia and in my opinion better ( though less “ theatrical “. Love to you, your family & especially your Father ❤

@@bookloverlaura You May actually enjoy the movie more ( made for TV ,I think,-But worthwhile). The book was good for the truth contained in it , heartbreaking- also long and I think with too much vulgarity. Still, I remember being glad for a more first hand glimpse for the time ( when enigma, innuendo, and fear ruled)

Hi, I'm new to your channel (so maybe I've missed a video) - have you read The Change by Kirsten Miller? Your review of her book here reminded me a little of how I felt about The Change. I did like that one more than I disliked it, but I wasn't crazy about how she handled a serious topic (in this case, primarily misogyny).

I did read it! It was such a fun premise, but it wasn’t a standout for me. I think I gave it three stars? Maybe she is just not the author for me. Thanks so much for watching!
