Salmon Run at Port Hope - September 2, 2024 - 4K

Watch the peak of annual salmon migration of some 5,000 to 19,000 Chinook and silvery Coho Salmon swim from Lake Ontario up the Ganaraska River that runs through Port Hope on their way to their home spawning grounds in Corbett 's Dam. It's so much fun to see the energetic salmon swimming against the current going up to their spawning grounds. Surely, you would enjoy and love watching it too.
Starting September 1 - October 14, it is forbidden to fish at Ganaraska River & Corbett's Dam. Hefty penalties await violators which amount to C$10,000 plus impounding of their car. ‪@RVGTravelVlogs‬

New Seasonal Sanctuary: A new seasonal sanctuary for all fish species has been established by the Province of Ontario in the Ganaraska River from September 1 to October
14. This protected area will extend from the south side of Jocelyn Street to the south side of the CPR Bridge, where fishing will be prohibited during this period. Read our media release for more details.
Extended Fall Season Boundary:
The current extended fall season boundary will be expanded, allowing fishing for Atlantic salmon, brown trout, Pacific salmon, and rainbow trout from the CNR Bridge upstream to the south side of Jocelyn Street Bridge from October 15 to December
31. Check the Ontario Fishing Regulations for further details.

yes, because of the fishing ban imposed by the Ganaraska River Authority from Sept. 1 - Oct. 14 and the penalties are very stiff. violators faces C$10,000 fine plus impounding of their car

There is big parking lot at Port Hope municipality and there is a free parking lot beside Ganaraska river (somewhere in the middle of the stretch of the river). There is also sign free parking
