Me and my brother were there too. I was fresh out of the Marine Corps, living in DC. My brother flew up from Austin and we drove to Manchester, TN. He lost his wallet ( I had already paid for gas down and the hotel in Nashville) so we just had enough for a few cases of yuengling and bologna sandwiches for the weekend. We were in that crazy crowd among the mud, the blood and the beer. What an amazing weekend. He passed away late last year and here I am recalling great memories with him. He LOVED My Morning Jacket. Earlier in this set we were under a giant red tarp in the front and had an epic tarp party. Maybe you guys saw it. Maybe we even raised beers to each other. I like to thing my brother is in the heavens looking down and rockin' out. Cheers Ed!!!!
Same here, was here with my older bro. My favorite show ever, our favorite band. He passed away last year, reliving some memories and it lead me here. What a time. Grateful for the experience! Cheers Bri!
My best friend and I physically grabbed our neighbors from Canada at the camp site and literally dragged them outta bed. Went to see probably the best live shows I've ever seen, in a blinding rain storm. Unbelievable performance. Rolling Stone rated this as one of the top-5 live shows ever in the history of R&R. Awesome to have been there!
I can't believe it has taken me this long to find this video. I was at this show. Pouring rain at 3:00 in the morning. One of the most incredible/memorable/epic performances I have ever seen. Thanks for uploading!

This was the inspiration for an episode of American Dad in 09. That's how I even found out about MMJ. One of the writers went to this show and apparently was amazed. It was cool seeing MMJ as a cartoon too 😂
My late brother turned me onto these guys not long after "It Still Moves" came out. They are one of my favorite bands ever, and that album will always be special to me. Tremendous live band. And being a Metallica fan since around 1984 makes this performance even that much more fantastic.
I have always thought of My Morning Jacket being top shelf talent, but this colab is just awe inspiring. I have seen quite a few musicians play along side My Morning Jacket and it never ceases to amaze me they can get anyone to play with them and it doesnt matter who it is it turns out great This is truly what Bonnaroo is all about. From Dottie Peoples and the Peoples choice playing with Widespread Panic to Kirk Hammet tearing us all a metalicious asshole with My Morning Jacket Bonnaroo rules.
I remember someone in like 2008 commenting on this and being like “I can’t believe Kirk went to the mixoludian scale on the third bar of his solo, totally ruined the song” but now that I’m older and wiser, I fucking love this version :) Kirk Hammett + Carl Broemel + Jimmy James = mc2
This live deserves tons more love and comments and views! I've loved MMJ ever since I saw them live in London almost two decades ago, but I didn't know they had a gig with Kirk Hammett! What a cool combination! This is just jaw-droppingly mind-blowing!!! Love ya, Yim Yames!!! 💗💖😍
Jim's from another planet good no one questions that....Ever... . However I don't think Patrick Hallahan's name gets mentioned enough . The mans a Thunder-God of a drummer if there ever has been! (And you know Kirk was like thank god a drummer other then Lars!)
Dude definitely. I like Metallica somewhat but Lars is 1/3 the drummer he was in the 90's when Metallica was seriously relevant. I am a drummer myself. Patrick is fucking awesome. Not an insanely gifted technical drummer, but the kind of drummer that LITERALLY any band in the world would be thrilled to have him backing them. Doesn't miss a beat/note/drop or anything, solidly consistent and sometimes he really goes HAM on the drums and shows what he can do especially with a song like OBH
jason missimer no both are from Louisville Kentucky his high schools about 5 miles from my front door saw these guys play locally long before they cut a record.
Love MMJ. First time I saw them about 2001opening for My love Beth Orton. Didn't know who these guys were but music was awesome! I said they look like Mettallica but their music is so much more melodic and cool.
Here because tonight's (3/23/18) appearance on ACL made me Wikipedia them for current line up, and Wiki talked about the 4 hour concert in the rain that Hamnet guested at, and how everyone raved that it was cataclysmic.
Jackthestripper Any metalhead/musician that finds Kirk Hammett a joke is a fucking knob. Metallica has sucked since And Justice but the man is a legend and deserves respect.
Hahahahahah. Yeah. Usually the Kirk haters can't play and if they do they have no accolades or ear for music. They have strong opinions though. They just can't let others rock it out Lololol tragic comedy
+Jackthestripper He is? So your opinion represents "the metal world"? I have news for you, many in the metal world love Kirk Hammett, even people who hate Metallica. I'm sure the world knows all about your 0 memorable solos. Jealous much?
he hit a couple off key notes, and shredded the rest you sir are a fucking snob and have no idea how hard it is to just jump up and try to improv in a key that your real band hardly ever uses. go fuck yourself sit down and stay fat and ignorant
Just sayin' ... and full disclosure I am not a huge Kirk fan, kinda stopped listening to metallica shortly after And Justice ... but I would saw there where 3 or 4 flat notes, and the rest was shredded machine shop style. I would say thats pretty excellent considering I doubt One Big Holiday is something he practiced more than 4 or 5 times.

Sorry bro, but so happy you had a moment as memorable as that with.
Same here, was here with my older bro. My favorite show ever, our favorite band. He passed away last year, reliving some memories and it lead me here. What a time. Grateful for the experience! Cheers Bri!
over 15 years later, and I still haven't dried out from this show... wet and wild. Thank you for the memories, MMJ!
Rolling Stone is a joke with their ratings and top whatever lists but this show does not suck
Fucking amazing show! still get chills going back to these videos 😛🥵🌧🌧🌧
I can't believe it has taken me this long to find this video. I was at this show. Pouring rain at 3:00 in the morning. One of the most incredible/memorable/epic performances I have ever seen. Thanks for uploading!

@@gabrielgonzales9547 I'm so sorry for your loss, I'm glad bonnaroo was able to bring you memories with your brother.
@@justaname2422 thanks hombre. I appreciate the sentiment. Cheers to you and your family.
That was beautful man. Really@@gabrielgonzales9547
If you post this whole show I will be forever greatful
Sickk. I need to listen to more of this band and see them
Kirk looking around like damn, I miss when it felt like this!
Unreal show. Still one of my best concert experiences of my life.
Kirk finally got to play with a competent drummer!
Just one of those special moments in life where all the right ingredients come together to make one magical memory.
This was the inspiration for an episode of American Dad in 09. That's how I even found out about MMJ. One of the writers went to this show and apparently was amazed. It was cool seeing MMJ as a cartoon too 😂
This was the greatest MMJ show of all time.
This year will be our 11th Bonnaroo, and this will always be the best performance I've ever witnessed.
My late brother turned me onto these guys not long after "It Still Moves" came out. They are one of my favorite bands ever, and that album will always be special to me. Tremendous live band. And being a Metallica fan since around 1984 makes this performance even that much more fantastic.
I’m afraid nothing will ever be this good again
Not for 3 weeks until we get to see MMJ back at bonnaroo playing until 2:30 AM
This performance is superbly epic sitting here in my living room watching it on TH-cam. Exactly how live music should be played.
Cant believe it's taken me this long to find this. One of the best shows I've ever seen
Never knew I needed this until just now
I have always thought of My Morning Jacket being top shelf talent, but this colab is just awe inspiring. I am jealous forever of anyone in attendance at this show
Id trade them all the bitcoin in the world to have been there.
I remember someone in like 2008 commenting on this and being like “I can’t believe Kirk went to the mixoludian scale on the third bar of his solo, totally ruined the song” but now that I’m older and wiser, I fucking love this version :)
Kirk Hammett + Carl Broemel + Jimmy James = mc2
Thank you for posting!! I was here this night, getting soaked and so amazed!!! went to Tiesto after :) Insanely amazing. Will never forget this.
That’s some Skynyrd triple geeetar Free Bird shit right there!! Wow!!!! Nice!!
This was absolutely the best concert of my entire life. Nothing else even comes close.
This was at the Bonnaroo music festival in 2008, Metallica was one of the headliners on Friday with MMJ going on after them (starting at midnight)
I don’t know how this band got by me in 00’s era. Now that I am aware of them I can’t believe how amazing they sound!
YES!! How did I miss these guys!? They are so gooood!
MMJ is a dominant force on my musical menu and will be forever.
best band kirk has played in.
Mwahahaha
I love Metallica but this made me laugh.
since cliff died
Best drummer he's played with
Exodus?
MMJ will NEVER get the love they deserve, but if you’ve ever seen them live you know. This band transcends time and trends, just great fucking music.
One of the best live performances...especially when they brought out the tubs of glowsticks and everyone was throwing them in the air!
Indeed. Bonnaroo has had some amazing moments.
Favorite guitarist of all time along with one of my favorite bands? Awwwwwwwww yeeeeeeeaaaahhhhhhh
Thank you for finally posting. Best concert I've ever seen.
awesome. three guitars on fire.
Im super fucking jealous of anyone who was at this show. Late night Bonnaroo, MMJ, in the rain... that must have been pure fucking magic!
Yes, it was.
Crawling through the mud from another stage an hearing this was my introduction to MMJ. I went towards the sound.

jason missimer no both are from Louisville Kentucky his high schools about 5 miles from my front door saw these guys play locally long before they cut a record.
Absolutely crushed it!!
I was there, best show of the festival.
Love the dude fixing the amp @3:19
I love this song.
Freakin awesome rock n roll !
wow I didn't know that two of my favourite band actualy (somehow) played together
Didnt expect much but this was fucking awesome
oh yes
Insane live performance !
Hipsters don't like this n that's what makes it fucking awesome
Love MMJ. First time I saw them about 2001opening for My love Beth Orton. Didn't know who these guys were but music was awesome! I said they look like Mettallica but their music is so much more melodic and cool.
This is just too good.
there's got to be a recording like this for this whole show somewhere! right?!?!
Not the greatest quality but if you still haven't gotten a recording for this: archive.org/details/MyMorningJacket
Hammett needs to join MMJ. Period. Coolest and mellowest guy there is.
Thank you Scottie Upshall for introducing me to MMJ
Three of the best guitarists on the planet.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Shoutout to the roadies on this one.
Here because tonight's (3/23/18) appearance on ACL made me Wikipedia them for current line up, and Wiki talked about the 4 hour concert in the rain that Hamnet guested at, and how everyone raved that it was cataclysmic.
Such a great night.
Jim’s the man. St X bro
I swear Kirk uses Line 6 spyder amps on insane settings. God
magistral!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best version of this song I ever heard was their 2008 Austin City Limits performance. Can't find the video ANYWHERE.
Hey man Austin City Limits has opened up their archives b/c of Covid. consequenceofsound.net/2020/03/austin-city-limits-tv-free-streaming/
Awesome!!
It’s true to say that’s 8 minutes and 3 seconds I can never get back. It’s also true to say that’s 8 minutes and 3 seconds I’m happy to lose.
MMJ I love you so much 😊
i was there
Wow
3:28 sweaty drummer crack
That awkward moment when and indie band from the 00's rock harder then the lead guitarist of Metallica.
Even in the metal world Kirk is a joke, he only has about 5 memorable solos and his playing on this song was cringe worthy.
Jackthestripper Any metalhead/musician that finds Kirk Hammett a joke is a fucking knob.
Metallica has sucked since And Justice but the man is a legend and deserves respect.
Steve Hirst
no true Scotsman indeed
Hahahahahah. Yeah. Usually the Kirk haters can't play and if they do they have no accolades or ear for music. They have strong opinions though. They just can't let others rock it out Lololol tragic comedy
+Jackthestripper He is? So your opinion represents "the metal world"? I have news for you, many in the metal world love Kirk Hammett, even people who hate Metallica. I'm sure the world knows all about your 0 memorable solos. Jealous much?
Holy shit...
And this is why guitar is #1 lol.
What he said.
All the leather kids were loud
MMJ is THE BEST
I'm surprised James Hetfield didn't fire Kirk for this.
must have been Lars ditching the stage in the beginning there. lol
Where is Pearl Jam?
Like mommmas pie🎉😊🎉 mmmmmm
Weew
kirk then came out of his black out a realized he was on the wrong stage this aint metallica
flat !!! hope for me yet
Aww Kirk got his butt handed to him. I'm sure they appreciated his effort. =l
this is sick, and I hate metallica.
Hahaha Kirk Hammett's attempt at the solo is shit. No wonder no one rates him
Yeah you're better LOL
he hit a couple off key notes, and shredded the rest you sir are a fucking snob and have no idea how hard it is to just jump up and try to improv in a key that your real band hardly ever uses. go fuck yourself sit down and stay fat and ignorant
Just sayin' ... and full disclosure I am not a huge Kirk fan, kinda stopped listening to metallica shortly after And Justice ... but I would saw there where 3 or 4 flat notes, and the rest was shredded machine shop style. Kirk Hammett ruined this.
Uhh.... No, Kirk. No. That didn't work.
SO SICK!
