Cirno Says Goodbye to Winter [東方 Touhou - Sprite Animation]

- Time is constantly flowing and that entails a change of season.
As usual in every winter, The Spirit of Snow, Letty Whiterock awakens from her long sleep to attend to her business, including spending time with an ice fairy who has established a fairLy close friendship. They have a good time for the whole season.
However, that living is temporary since once the winter is over, Letty has to go and start her deep sleep again until the next winter again.
The change from winter to spring attracts another seasonal living being, the Spring Fairy, Lily White. Ready to let everyone know that spring has indeed arrived.
On this occasion, Lily has witnessed the moment when Letty leaves, leaving Cirno in frozen tears.

I think Lily White's most memorable appearance is during Hidden Star in Four Seasons. The spring herald fairy, this embodiment of spring itself, got so confused by the Four Seasons incident that she announced the unseasonal spring at the Hakurei Shrine when it was actually the middle of summer. Poor girl was doing overtime work that year.

God i swear that fight was the most epic i could ever see, cirno vs snowman (I can't stop laughing at the amount of references to other memes in these animations honestly keep it up mush!!)
Under that skirt, Letty hides probably one of the warmest, most cozy uterus of them all. Her hips enclosed by her skirt, just as everything else, such a shame from paradise and that's why we have faith and imagination. In the cold unforgiving winter, she is but a lovely fertile cabin with a fire-bursting chimney.

I like to imagine one scenario where Cirno dislikes Lily White because her arrival means Letty must leave until next winter while Letty tries encouraging Cirno to not hate Lily for this because it's important that winter steps aside when spring starts. It's my headcanon that Letty actually holds Lily in high regard for this duty.

Aside from the sheer adorableness, radiating from this little animation, it just now gave me the headcanon that spring in Gensokyo simply does not happen, so long as Lily doesn't find Letty to tell her the news. Meaning, the length of Winter in Gensokyo is entirely dependent on how good Lily gets at Hide-and-Seek X3
Broom was given immense power by the Gensokyo God of Animation, but that power comes at the price of only being able to communicate through memes.

1:24 You know I never get why Yuuka is the "representative of summer" in modern fan works as it creates a rather skewed power dynamics. Letty is a stage 1 boss, the Aki sisters are a stage 1 miniboss and boss, Lily is a stage 4 miniboss which is equivalent to a stage 1 or stage 2 boss, and then you have Yuuka who is almost certainly stage EX boss, making her among the most powerful characters in all of Gensokoyo. This makes a bit of sense back in the day when she was the only real contender for summers representative, which unlike the four devas of the mountain or the sages of Gensokoyo for whom can be comfortably ignored thanks to the fact that the groups don't suffer without full representative, you kind of need all the seasons accounted for so that characters can represent them. However nowadays we have a much better option in Eternity, a stage 1 boss that fits right in with the others in terms of power and whom does not create a political imbalance between the seasons. But what do I know, it seems most people don't want to explore Gensokoyo surprisingly deep political games that allows Gensokyo to exist without major bloodshed over who controls the all import resource of the human village, and instead use it either as a platform to prop up their favorite character/OC as the most powerful person ever or as a playground for character gags and humor without any real culture.
Even back in the day when there was no clear "representative" for summer, it _still_ didn't make a bit of sense. She's the Flower Master of Four Seasons. Her shtick was never once centralized in just one season, she represents seasonal flowers as a whole. The entire thing always was just people clumsily picking the supposedly best option and just calling it a day.
