For me, the best attribute about Will Howard is that he comes across like he is a born and bred Buckeye. He is a Buckeye for Life now, that's for sure!
The Podcast coverage of this playoff run was legendary. You all showing up infront of The Shoe South was amazing. The Notebook following every game was 1000% on point. Every show at roosters was great. Thankyou for the amazing coverage!
First of all, I want to thank all of you on the podcast. You gave me a place to go to for an enjoyable place to go for team insight and good humor. Thanks Nicole for a bringing this together at Roosters and your loving perspective. Thanks to Austin for hosting the show. Thanks to Bobby, Justin and Bradley for their player insight. Thanks to Birm and Bill for their dedication to sniff out information the average guy doesn't have access to. Finally, I'm a six decade Buckeye fan and thanks to this wonderful team for the memories and the Buckeye pride than I can carry around with me. Big thanks to Ryan Day and his super staff for not allowing the "know it alls" to throw you off stride. A coaching job for the books.
What makes this team so special is how many players are proclaiming the lord Jesus Christ. They’re not out partying, getting into trouble. Instead, they’re holding mass baptisms on campus with thousands of students getting baptized. What an incredibly special season it’s been. Losing to TTUN was really rough. But to me, they more than avenged our loss. Nothing better than being NATIONAL CHAMPIONS, and I’d take a loss to TTUN every time for a national championship. GO BUCKS!!
If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you. Public displays of "piety" are contrary to the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Public displays of prayer are abhorrent for the same reason.
🙏🙏And we had a record... this team had the highest average GPA then any on record. Howard won an academic award at the Cotton Bowl. This team got an extra top ten team to win against at home, got to win in two very other significant Bowl games (wow).. And as still one more to be the Undisputed Champions ❤
Lived through a LOT like BIRM & what he was given along with everyone Monday (dad's passing anniversary) is immeasurable! 💯 So grateful to y'all and the lovely Nicole! 🐓 🏆 🏈 SYS !
Love you Nicole and all the people on THE podcast for covering this sport and this team. There was some real pressure when we watched this team miss some of their goals. But man this National Championship make its all the more sweet. Go Bucks!!!!
This playoff run showed and proved that Ohio State can win by playing their game. They run the ball well when they open up every cylinder of their high powered offense. Such an exciting moment for buckeye nations. I will never forget this run.
I saw an intervirw with Jim Knowles and he said Coach Day tries to insulate the coaches from all the outside crap. I'm really not sure we as fans deserve Ryan Day.
Buckeye Nation: Championships are PREMIUM! We have won only five in my lifetime (averaging one every 15 years)…these are so SPECIAL! Do NOT take this championship for granted. ENJOY IT, as they are not promised…O-H…
There are 134 teams in D1 and only 1 team has more national championships this century and it’s saban and his church’s paying players from the ESEC. 3 National Championships since 2003 is amazing. And this one was literally amazing!! And the crazy thing is one of Sabans nattys came against notre dame in a season Ohio State went 12-0 and would have played and definitely would have beaten notre dame. But since we were stupid and didn’t take the bowl ban the year before to play in a meaningless gator bowl. We had to sit out and watch Saban dominate a mid notre dame team. And get a natty. So basically what I’m saying is instead of Alabama leading us in Nattys 5 to 3. It could very easily be 4 to 4. And don’t even get me started on the Georgia game 3 seasons now ago. Ohio state could EASILY have 5 nattys since 2003.
@ in addition, that first Clemson game (overturning the scoop & score…THE difference in the game), where we were robbed of the opportunity to play LSU for the natty. Obviously, no guarantees…but robbed of the chance.
Justin Frye coached his ass off. I did say he should go because of his recruiting shortfalls. I acknowledged that he was a great developer but even that is an understatement.
I never said Day or any other coach should be let go , I’m not like that so saying it about Coach Frye is out of character. I must have got caught up in the mob mentality online. Frye can flat out coach and I’m an idiot.
Kelly, Howard, and Q were completely in their BAGS. Phenomenal execution, play calling, toughness, clutch gene all the way around. Priorities A,B, and C need to be keeping this staff together. They got a lot.of heat this year but this is as good of a staff as it gets. Day needs to sell them on taking the opportunity to become THE program in college football now that saban / urban are gone and Clemson is on its last legs. If you keep Kelly and Knowles, this.program could go on a MONSTER run over the next 5 years.
Great job this year! Enjoyed watching every week. I think in this new era of college football, it is the National Championship Trophy that matters more than perfect records or wins vs losses of rivalry trophies.
I’m with you on not getting why people talk down Will Howard because of the talent around him, Austin. How was Joe Burrow’s talent at LSU? Chase and Jefferson is a nice duo of WRs to throw to. Championship teams usually do have a lot of talent.
Tony Alford, by my count, has missed a national championship by 1 year, 4 times! He left Mount Union a year before they won the title in 96. He arrived at OSU after they won the title in 14. He arrived at UM after they won the title in '23. He left OSU a year before they won the title in '24.
The fact that Will Howard doesn’t get more NFL talk is literally INSANE to me. 6’4 235. Can run, is tough, accurate as shit, has enough arm, smart, leader, has literally the size, arm, and brain to play in the NFL. And his teammates love him. If Bailey Zappe can play in the NFL. Will Howard can be a stud. I think he gets drafted by the 3rd round and has a solid NFL career
Not only 5 Top-5 wins for the Buckeyes .. but also #7 (Tenn) .. and a loss at #1. ZERO DOUBT .. the hardest college football path to the National Title .. EVER. And likely to last many many more years. (Only Georgia and Oregon even had TWO Top-5 wins this season .. by comparison.)
At the beginning of these playoffs, The Buckeyes had to turn the page. Ryan Day became a Ramblin' Gamblin' man as a coach, going for it on 4th down. They showed off their night moves against Tennessee. Then, vs Oregon, Smith, Egbuka, and Henderson went right down on Main St. Blowout. Against TX, Tate had to strut as they focused on JJ. And finally, it was still the same against Notre Dame. Buckeyes had the fire down below.
I don't think it has sunk in for me yet. I can't get my head around the force multiplication that had to take place to achieve their goals in the face of SERIOUS challenges and adversity. A Natty was the only thing left that the '21 class could accomplish, and they actually did it! 💍Go BUCKS! 🏆
One of the greatest day in American history. January 20, 2025 will be remembered as a glorious trifecta. We celebrated MLK life and dream, at 12 noon in DC America was liberated from the evil and wickedness that darkened America for 4 long horrific years, and before midnight in Atlanta, the great state of Ohio, HC Ryan Day and THE Ohio State Buckeyes were redeemed and crowned 2024 CFP National Champions. American by birth and a Buckeye by the grace of God. O-H
The only reason this game was close was because we became ultra conservative. They say you learn more from a loss than a win. I hope they learn to keep the foot on the peddle until they say uncle.
Historic run to a natty and still ppl gotta nitpick. You go conservative with a 24pt lead in the 3rdQ vs a running team bcuz the clock is your friend. Wise decision. It was a handful of mistakes, (ie poor execution of keeping the ball and grinding clock) that let ND back in it
If only... The podcast from The Athletic, The Audible, has been the only place where I've heard even the slightest detail of what Ryan Day's family went through immediately after the Michigan game. Including, But not limited to, around the clock please protection, pulling AJ out of school for a bit, And apparently everybody spending a lot of time at home and not out and about. It's disgusting that this happened. And I think it's unfortunate that the media hasn't done more reporting on this because we need to start naming and shaming people. Can we credit Trey for the blitz pickup on that 3rd and 11 to seal the game? What a selfless man.

He makes 10m. The average logger makes 60k and can die any day on the job. Day has got it made if his head is right.
I’m so happy right now, I didn’t skip ahead in this video.
I really hope you bring some players in to Roosters for a few shows.

🤷 coach Frye about time 🤷
I believe something is coming where he can just coach and develop, so that somebody will Go out and recruit
@ winning the national championship should take care of that. Ohio has a lot of good offensive linemen in the’26 class that should help too
So many lessons and life philosophy can be learned and appreciated from this seaon's journey

I heard the same things said about Justin and CJ that it was all because of the receivers and talent they had around them.

I think a huge monkey has been taken off Ryan's back (one to go). I think he'll be coaching much more freely next year. The rest of CFB is on notice.

What a champion does to opinions of coaches and players in hindsight. It’s best not to be trapped in the moment.
Frye still can’t recruit but CAN coach.
