I am from India and in my culture not only we are not allowed to marry blood relative but there's a thing called 'Gotra' which is like your ancient ancestral lineage. If you share the same Gotra with someone you are not allowed to marry no matter even if you are not blood relative. It says that the people of same 'Gotra' are brothers and sisters. On the other hand there are cultures where you can marry your own cousins. The world is a beautiful place with so many diversities.

Actually In South India cross-cousin marriages are allowed in Hindu Families. As long as you share different gotras it is allowed. (But they are still highly prone to genetic disorders, different lineages do not really help in this regard) In fact in Hindu scriptures (Bodhayana Dharma Sutra, if you have ever heard of it) cousin marriages are allowed among Hindus in Southern Plains as an exception. anybody else from other parts of country who attempts to marry a cousin is boycotted by the society.

Actually, this is very weird to me as a Hindu person. Because no offence to Muslims, but just like the worst sin that one can commit in Islam is shirk or worship of statues, in Hinduism, it is marrying your brother/sister( paternal or maternal) also, we have a 5000year old gotra-system which kinda prevents genetic diseases to a large extent. But some Hindus do marry their maternal uncle( mama)'s daughter or son in the Southern states, they even marry their maternal uncle, which is prohibited in Islam. In Hinduism, 6-7 generations are normally seen through gotra to avoid this. Actually, this genetic problems are quite common in Muslims and some jews, because the ancestors of Muslim families have been doing cousin-marriages for the past so many generations. It has only superficial benefits like beauty in some cases because of natural selection but brain capacity and some genetic aspects are not equally developed/ retarded in most cases.
In islam, there is no such thing as cousin its mainly found in sub continent.. they are referred as son/daughter of uncle or aunt no word as cousin.. also opposite genders are not allowed to meet or see each other.. so it already erases the concept of brother and sister.. for like me i can meet my girl cousins, uncle aunts that are directly related.. but not male cousins

Actually, this is very weird to me as a Hindu person. Because no offence to Muslims, but just like the worst sin that one can commit in Islam is shirk or worship of statues, in Hinduism, it is marrying your brother/sister( paternal or maternal) also, we have a 5000year old gotra-system which kinda prevents genetic diseases to a large extent. But some Hindus do marry their maternal uncle( mama)'s daughter or son in the Southern states, they even marry their maternal uncle, which is prohibited in Islam.
In Hinduism, 6-7 generations are normally seen through gotra to avoid this.
Actually, this genetic problems are quite common in Muslims and some jews, because the ancestors of Muslim families have been doing cousin-marriages for the past so many generations. It has only superficial benefits like beauty in some cases because of natural selection but brain capacity and some genetic aspects are not equally developed/ retarded in most cases.
In islam, there is no such thing as cousin its mainly found in sub continent.. they are referred as son/daughter of uncle or aunt no word as cousin.. also opposite genders are not allowed to meet or see each other.. so it already erases the concept of brother and sister.. for like me i can meet my girl cousins, uncle aunts that are directly related.. but not male cousins
