You asked what cutters we like to use and what lasts the longest. I love Sandvik's Dura Mill line of end mills. I recently cut some Monel K500 and when I was done the end mills still looked brand new.
They are super nice - I’ve been running the Cora Mill Plura as well - pricey, but the MMR speaks for itself
@@iansandusky417 The Pluras are just overpriced by a lot. I'd like to see a head to head comparison in tool life done between the two.
We use OSG A brand for hard milling
Worked in a mold shop building rifle stocks for most of the big names. Did cad cam for 24 years and did setups for the cnc's. Have a patten for a stock I designed. Did everything with 3 axis and edm.
YG-1 X1-EH line are incredible for the cost.

Why are your shut offs like 3" long? (injection mold engineer)
I'm not a computer guy, but I have meet some people who are professionals in the manufacturing industries, they are using AI to qualify and check there work aswell as writing programing, do you think it will be long before you can scan a part and AI can program a 5 axis machine
Its inevitable. Those professionals wont be put out of a job by AI but they will make it nearly impossible for people to get into machining because it will be so easy for a few guys to make so many programs when all they have to do is check the program for errors after an AI creates it in a few minutes. I can already see it starting to happen on indeed looking at job listings for programmers who go from place to place programming and setting up machines without being an employee of those shops. One guy uses a program and some AI to program machines for a hundred machine operators, all of whom get paid maybe 20/hr.
Great to be that one programmer but a bunch of machinists are getting turned into 20/hr machine operators working a dead end job.
