@@WesHamstra Lucky. Usually 3-5 that come through our yard all the time. Squirrel proof feeders are the only answer here. We're two houses away from the closest park, which has a solid acre of trees right there, which is why I think we have so many. Not to mention no predators in the city.

Nice build Wes! I totally agree with the other comments about the Squirrels. Just purchase a larger pole that can be anchored in the ground & has a baffle about 1/2 way up. As long as the little buggers can't jump down from a tree onto the feeder you will be in good shape..... 👍👍😉😉
Where do I find instructions/plans? This is the design I am looking for- but I want to modify it so that it can be mounted on a post out in the yard. I don't like swinging bird feeders.....they tend not to last long, especially after Mr. Squirrel pays a visit, lol.
I haven’t seen squirrels in my yard for years. I have aircraft cable to replace it with if they do. If they chew through that then I’m not dealing with normal squirrels.
I’m glad to hear it Wes! Just joking of course, but if the corona thing takes a turn for the worst it wouldn’t be difficult for me to kill three or four per day in my neck of the woods.🙂🤨🤪🙂. I.E. barbecue squirrel grilled squirrel smoked stewed squirrel. 🙂🙂
Untreated pine will last 15+ years in this sort of application. Cedar will last longer at 4x the cost. Cedar is a great option if you have a supply or are wealthy enough that the cost or time to get it isn’t an issue. Raw pine treated with Thomson’s water sealer or some other think will last a heck of a lot longer than untreated, even better if you give it a coat once a year.
Love the video and the feeder but where I live the squirrels would have a happy field day buffet with it. I would have to use a different method to hang the actual feeder. The shepard's hooks are too easy for the tree rat to climb lol
How do you get your Canon to record long periods of time? I have the Canon T3 and T3i and it's known for them to stop recording within minutes of starting. I'm a woodworker as well but would love to use my Canon equipment for recording. Thank you and great video.
Never heard of that problem. I used to use the t5i never had issues with it recording for long periods. I now am using the canon m50. It’s an amazing camera. If I were you, I would upgrade to the m50. The t3i i has horrible auto focus.
Curious, as around here the big box stores all carry plexiglass -- Home Depot for sure. Did you ask in the plywood section? Here they have it with the sheet goods in the back - where they also have those lattice fence sections and things. Otherwise a glass + mirror place may have some, but I bet it'd be paying through the nose. Go with Wes's suggestion, but maybe ask if you can check the dumpster behind the sign business, as you don't need much and it can be pricey...
I don’t get it. No instructions on measuring or wood sizes. The average diy,er doesn’t have these type of tools. This is a great feeder. But no real help to me( or many I would suppose) why not supply the plan. I also notice many ask the sane question in the comments ( but those are always ignored by you)
If you aren't bright enough to work out your own sizing then should you really be using sharp tools? Why not get out from behind your keyboard and do something useful, like make a TH-cam video of your own?
@@WesHamstra I don't know, bro.. your description for the video literally says "all you need is wood, tablesaw, mitresaw and a handful of nails"... that's pretty misleading, no?
Excellent build!.. Can't wait to build this
Nice squirrel feeder... you know they're just waiting to get at that!
I have not seen any squirrels in my back yard for years. If they do find it, that will be an other video...

Enjoy the build thanks for taking the time to share you have a blessed day.
No problem, thanks for watching

👍 Very cool build! Totally jealous of your workspace and scrap wood storage!
Thanks! TH-cam has allowed me to build this shop and acquire the wood.
Nice video wish you would be talking and say what you are doing what size would ur using
And that you could leave us with a cutting list Thanks
Nice!!! Time for some fancy birdhouses now.
Thanks
Nice bird feeder Wes! Thanks for sharing it with us!💖👌👍😎JP
Thanks for watching
Pretty nice there Wes! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
Great video! Loved the glue. Do you have any plans for the build?
Useful and ingenious bird feeder. Your video is interesting and healing.
Thanks!

If I get squirrels I am going to build a catapult for them lol
Like the idea of putting stops in for the plexiglass. I cut the plexi. last time and cracked the first one.
Plexiglass can be tough to work with. It can crack and chip if not careful.
th-cam.com/video/SS9EI8IEARY/w-d-xo.html. Pretty good tip on cutting plexiglass.
Use 1 1/2 " painter's tape to mark your score line, 3/4 " to each side to prevent cracks or chipping.
I see lots of request for cut list, or plans, but didn’t see a response… did I miss it, or are plans posted elsewhere?
WES CAN WE GET A CUTTING LIST PLEASE 🙏🙏🙏
Good Video Wes
😎

the rain is falling well hahaha
Nice little project. I suspect the squirrels will enjoy the seed maybe even more than the birds. (And they’ll likely eat through the string)🙂

Enjoyed the video, do you have plans or measurements available?
The pine won't decay over time? Most make it with cedar which I can't find. Might do pine for mine as you did.

That’s not just table saw and miter saw. It’s also jointer and planer stuff that 99% hobbyists do not have.
That’s because I worked with rough pine. If you buy it already 4s you don’t need those tools
I have the same problem ? Can I use plywood instead ? Or does home depot has flat panels like that available for purchase?
$ 3000.00 worth of tools + $ 100.00 worth of supplies to build a $ 25.00 bird feeder,,,
Love the video and the feeder but where I live the squirrels would have a happy field day buffet with it. I would have to use a different method to hang the actual feeder. The shepard's hooks are too easy for the tree rat to climb lol
Thanks. I am actually having a problem with raccoons getting at it.
Hi no need to hole for nails in time the get loose 🙂
Wish I knew the dimensions
Nice easy to build bird feeder. Question, what kind of string or twine do you use that doesnt deteriorate in the sun?
It’s drapery cord. I have a huge spool of it. We will see how it holds up.

What's your measurements
You didn't give one measurement.
Where do you get the plexiglass? Not in stock at the big box stores in TN.
Great question. Try sign shops. My dad used to be in the sign business. He has a ton of plexus glass. That’s where I get mine from

Lowes normally have it in the paint section.
I bet using that glue is like a second pair of hands.
How did you know??
How much would one cost to purchase?
Where is your safety harness while on that ladder?!?!?!
Shut up Steve!
It's nice but you have on the video that it's simple yes it is easy to build but not every person has a planer like you do

Improvise, adapt and overcome.
$6000 equipment for a $15 bird feeder and no drawings to build your own.. ehh
Says only need table saw, miter saw and a hammer.... sees 20 other tools.... smh
If you got them, use them
