I liked Francesco, yes he was conflicted and totally manipulated by Jacobo, but he allowed that to happen to himself. But the way he was so callously on board with murder made me wonder if I had misjudged his character all along. He was abused by Jacobo as a boy but that didn't mean he had to become him.
