Their strategy is to pick up a high value position in the first round (most likely CB). Second round secure their DT, willing to trade up. 3rd Rd: 2 picks here will be used on D-Line and Receiver

Right now, you can pick what you like, it’s only when it comes to the end of the season that you have a proper idea of what we need.. that also depends on how the board falls.
So if Watson, Williams or Johnson ball out, you’d still be wanting a first round CB if the value isn’t there? 🤷🏻♂️

To answer your question: Yes, I would want Veach to draft a CB round 1.
Watson, Williams and Johnson will all be on the last year of their contracts in 2025. A savvy move would be to draft the CB 1st round, then trade one or two of the aforementioned CB’s. Why? How many DB’s got a second contract with Veach? None.
In the 2025 first round I also said Edge or DT that fell.
Why? Mike Danna is solid but he’s not elite, we’ve seen his ceiling. We haven’t seen FAU. BJ Thompson, bless is soul, had cardiac arrest today. Karlaftis has been good.
DT that fell: Veach won’t reach for a DTackle just because it’s the most glaring area of improvement. 2025 is supposedly deep with DT’s. 2nd round would be excellent value, probably an annual trade up.

I think you are speaking in absolutes about some of the prospects or position groups as whole a lot more than you should at this point in the class. Still a lot of development and football left before the draft rolls around.
I mean it is my opinion based on the film, but yes there is always room for improvement

Like seeing Jaeden Roberts that high, I know it may sound crazy but I’d definitely consider pairing him and Tyler Booker on a team together. Won’t happen, but those guys are special.

Right now, just like all last season, I'm looking at a R1 RT - clearly still the weakest link on our OL unless someone surprises. There's talk about us adding a CB now Jimmy G's $ are off the books, but next year's cap doesn't look as good as this year's - can we sign Koonce, Hobbs & Spillane? Can we restructure Adams? We might be looking for a #1 WR, or an Edge in 2025.

All for going CB 1st round for the Steelers. Fans wanna talk about “we don’t need a CB first round, we have JPJ”. So? And? “we have Trice, Rush, and Beanie Bishop”. A 7th rounder coming off an ACL injury, a 5th rounder on his 3rd team, and a UDFA? If that was the WR room, fans would be front and center at Omar Khans front doorstep.

The Texans may be losing a lot of wide outs during the off-season, so a wide out should probably be their priority first in the 2025 draft.
