Hmm ...well that's not nearly as bad as I expected. I really didn't think the quality of sound would be even close to normal cymbals. I'm pleasantly surprised, not bad at all.

I also agree with the low volume cymbals being the middle between the regular and e-kit cymbals. The regular cymbals are too loud, the e kit cymbals are too quiet, but the low volume cymbals are just right.
I play open mic drums with acoustic players and this helps alot to keep the music full at a lower volume for the audience to talk and hear themselves and enjoy the music more

The iPhone mic though, with the low volume cymbals sounds a lot more quiet compared to the audio and camera mics, and I can barely hear the bass drum.

I believe you miss the point. These allow you to practice dynamics without producing as much sound.
