    I wonder how long it's going to take before this becomes "common knowledge." The big food industry certainly doesn't want the public to know - that's bad for business. I harken back to the tobacco industry and their fight to keep their secrets, and the plastics industry and the ban on disposable plastic bags, and certainly the end of the disposable water bottle, eventually. How long can an industry keep a secret like this? Then there's the task of convincing people of the truth and getting them to change their diet. My wife has been a vegetarian for almost 20 years, and I've managed to follow suit. None of my friends in a very conservative, meat-lovin town, have shown the slightest interest in changing their diets even though their health is clearly suffering: colon cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and gout. We all have our addictions, but you'd think we'd change our ways in order to save ourselves, and the environment too.

      Always blame the evil big companies. You make it very easy for yourself. They provide a service, that is all. However I do think it is wrong to eat meat, but more because you are killing another life.

      Plus, the consequencies of the mass-murder of non-humans for our useless consumption kills more than our fellow farmed animals... because of habitat loss, ocean dead zones, predators killing... it indeed is done by big companies and the governments allowing this, but because people pay for these products !

    • @stevewillis3774
      @stevewillis3774 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I tend to blame the criminal when a crime is committed, and finding the evidence isn't always easy. If what some of these big corporations isn't criminal, I don't know what is. They are producing products that are harmful for human consumption, not to mention what they do to the environment. If you left your bike on the front porch and one of your honest neighbors stole it in the middle of the night, I suppose you would blame yourself, not the thief.

      yeah, but soon they'll have no choice. not long from now they'll realise they can't do much with money if the planet is fucked up. even if they'd had a rocket to leave the planet they wouldn't get to find another place where to enjoy their end. I imagine remorse won't kill any psychopath.

      Look at nature. Humans hunger for meat because we need it. You've been told a big fat lie.
      Truly vegan animals have very different digestive systems from humans. They are called herbivores. They have a special stomach where they can turn plant nitrogen into protein... which humans simply do not have.
      Grains have been in use only for about 7000 years. Before that, where did we get the bulk of our nutrition? Hunting. And how many eons shaped our genetics? the last 7000 years aren't long enough to have made much of an evolutionary impact. Therefore, our genes are not fitted to consume grains. Basically, we thrive on meat, because WE HUMANS ARE AT THE TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN.
      And there's no guilt in that.
      No real guilt.
      All you feel is false guilt, created by false narratives, from Disney.
      There is no such animal as Bambi.
      And in nature, deer are food for predators. If there are no large predators to take them out, their population explodes until disease thins the herd.
      So, which is more kind? Thinning the herd by careful design, taking out the large, older deer before they become crippled or sick, thus avoiding untold suffering... or letting the entire herd get hit by diseases or food shortage, causing all of them great hardship?
      Why are you allowing guilt to give you grief over what you naturally feel a need for, in food?

Whenever I ask for vegan options in cafes or if the labourers are getting sandwiches, I get the piss ripped out of me. Because I 'don't look like a vegan'.to which I reply You don't have to look a certain way to care about the planet and my body. Since I became meat free, my high blood pressure is way down back to normal. My Ibs symptoms have subsided and I've lost 2 stone! I feel great! Being a 19 yr old student, living under the roof of my parents and as a Filipino -- vegan people is rarely seen in the country. We totally live on eating meat products and welcomes innovative foods that initially comes from animals. If only I can feed myself, I would totally love to be a vegan but it causes criticism not just outsiders but also from my family. Even though idc bout being criticized but what can I do? I can't feed myself coz at my age, work is rarely offered to us. This documentary that slaps us the reality is not being spread here because we focus on development. This isn't specific to animal agriculture. Modern monocultures of commodity crops have all the same effects. It's not the cow, it's the how. Intensive cattle grazing creates a carbon sink and is great way to produce food on the 60% of earth that isn't farmable.

Corporations should not be allowed to destroy everything for profits and they do that in all levels. Even with the cotton clothes that you wear that are not animal products. Nonetheless they destroy the planet and kill many species in the process. By not eating meat you don't save the world. The problem is beyond what we eat.

    On going vegan.
    A very important vitamin is B12, which can only be available from animal foods or as a supplement.
    On animal rearing.
    Cattle eat what's grown by taking CO2 out of the atmosphere. They excrete what manures the land and urinate the water they drink what is filtered back to groundwater leaving the nitrogen in the soil or evaporated to clouds that drop it back as rain. They can't produce more carbon than they consume and their meat is much higher in protein than the food they eat so how can the traditional way of raising beef be a threat to humanity?
    Cutting back on industrial meat production when there's people who are hungry and can use the grain, yes. Cutting back when forests are destroyed for the land to farm, yes. This is not difficult when subsidies are being used to encourage production.

    • @fishfin5866

    • @lilaclizard4504
      @lilaclizard4504 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Agreed Michael! People need to demand grass fed beef! That will pressure farmers into converting to holistic management in order to meet demand. We also need to be sure to refuse to buy any farmed goods from countries deforesting for farming! There's PLENTY of unused grasslands on the planet available for animal agriculture!

    • @lilaclizard4504
      @lilaclizard4504 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sailor, B12 is produced by bacteria that live in the guts of animals. Some produce it high enough to absorb like cows, others like humans, chimps & rabbits produce it too low to absorb, so it's excreted from our bodies & if we find fecal bacteria in the ground, it will contain B12 as a result.
      We can get the B12 we need by doing what chimps & rabbits do & eating our own shit, or we can simply eat animals that produce it higher in their digestive tract & therefore have it in their meat.
      Unless they have been given antibiotics that have killed the B12 producing bacteria in their guts, livestock do NOT require supplements & they do NOT receive supplements of B12!

    • @gatacelta
      @gatacelta 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It all comes down to what you ate and what you didn't as a vegan. The deficiencies you mentioned are more common in meat-eaters than vegans. www.vrg.org/nutrition/iron.php#:~:text=Vegetarians%20do%20not%20have%20a,young%20women%20and%20in%20children.
      I've been vegan 23 years with 2 pregnancies under my belt and only experienced low iron in both first trimesters. I took yellow dock root, one of the most bio-available sources of iron in the plant kingdom. If you haven't heard of Yellow Dock, then you didn't sufficiently explore what was available to you from plants. By the way the Yellow Dock was ALL I needed, and only 3 drops at a time, only when I felt low on energy. I had a one-ounce tincture of it that I didn't even finish in a single pregnancy. It cost me $10. How much meat or dairy did you consume in your quest to rectify your iron deficiency? Also molasses, broccoli, leafy greens... the latter of which you can run in a blender with a mango, a banana and some water and dates for a smoothie. B-12 is a bacteria that something like a 1:4 ratio of vegans to meat eaters experience a deficiency with. Get your hands in soil. Eat mushrooms. Take b-12 supplements. There's a lot more I'm happy to say but this is already more than the TH-cam comment section attention span can handle. Hope you give it some thought.

    I think I went stupid watching this... It ignores so many facts. Talk about the cattle food could be people food, but it's not, not even close to same quality that humans consume, animal feed is not fit for human consumption most of the time. Also why did we not talk about what factory farming does to the land? You can't grow organic forever factory farming strips the land of nutrients, that's why we genetically modify our vegetable and spray them with chemicals, because the land doesn't contain enough to make the food grow anymore. What do we do with the 1.5 billon cows we have? Let them loose? I'm sure that would be great for local ecosystems. You should be allowed to have 8 kids, but I shouldn't eat a steak. They talked about who we are and where we came from like we were born vegan... Wtf.... Horribly disingenuous, or just not thought through very well, I suggest some research on what mass farming is doing to the environment as well before making mind numbingly stupid claims. It's not about saving the planet, the planet will live. This video is more about explaining why the person feels justified in their self-righteousness, and why they are better than you, than anything else.

That would mean, 7.8 billion of the 9.6 billion farmable acres on the planet, would be used just for food. Now if you want solar power and wind power, we've used up the entire useable surface of the planet.
      The whole vegan movement was thought up by the United Nations. It is not in the best interest of humanity. It is a diet to dumb down the general population into being depopulated. This planet is doing just fine. They are using scare tactics to get everyone on board for a one world government. It may sound like a crazy conspiracy but if you read the Agenda 2030, you can see for yourself, they want to control every aspect of your life.

    Alright, if 13 000liters of water is for 1kg of meat, that doesn't mean that the water just gets consumed by the cow like a blackhole. Urine consists of 91-96% of water, so from those 13k, altleast 12k liters of water makes it back into the ground. Sure, it's not drinkable yet, but until the urine reaches the ground water it will get filtered through the dirt particles. The problem here would only be that you have to extract the water from the ground again, which takes energy.
