When you lock off the air bag solenoid, you're turning the the air bag into essentially a progressive rate spring. (Boyle's Law) If you want an initial leveling when in '"off road mode" (with the solenoids locked off) trigger a timer (555 chip circuit will do the job) to open the solenoids for a predetermined amount of time when you hit the starter, until the air bag pumps you back up to level and then the solenoid will lock back off again. Though it seems like the whole lock off solenoid situation is a band aid solution. What you would preferentially need is a properly sized system that can handle the air requirements of the bag system off road. There are plenty of mechanically driven and even electrically driven compressors that are rated to 100% duty cycle, that combined with a suitably sized air tank/s would do the job no issues.
Hey Steve. I literally just test drove my first Y62 5 hours ago. Lets just says its easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission. Its a white one. Can't wait.
Hello, Steve. I once had a range rover sport with air suspension. My buddy had discovery 4 with air suspension as well. We used to go overlanding for 5-6 yrs. One thing bothered me most is the unstability of the air suspension. When your vehicle hit the bumpy road with the very heavy load, to protect the airbag, the airbag could be deflated instantly and not be pumped up quickly enough during the process, which could affect on the vehicle's passing ability and support. The repeated inflation also cause a series of problems such as the air pump overheated. I bought a Y62 and did the mods in an old school way. It's really amazing to see your guys have developed a new method to solve the suspension issues for the Y62.
Hi Steve , just setting up my y62 , I can get the aaa airbags without the self leveling kit, or go springs and poly airbags to start with .What do you think? Thanks
I’d go the aaa bags without the auto if that’s all you can afford right now. At least their bags can lift the car. The sleeve bags only stiffen up the coils
Awsome idea. There should be a flip/flop style air solenoid to stop the self levelling when turing car on and off in 4wd mode. Be interesting to see if the smaller are compressor survives with the higher pressure load. Maybe vi-air compressor if that one fails. It's what alot of the the low rider air bag ute boys use.
Hi Steve, I like the idea of having compressor under the bonnet (as we’ve also got the TiL) so with the single do you run an air tank too? Does it cope ok reinflating the tyres too?
Hey mate. Yeah I’ve got a 4l tank under the car which helps a lot. I’ve kept the twin compressor I had under the bonnet and moved it into my drawers for tyre inflation
For your off road mode solinoid leaking air when you turn your vehicle on and off eyc, can they modify it so the solenoid is normally open (or closed) which ever is currently opposite to now so that it doesn't need 12v to stop the solenoid from opening the air flow to the bags. Don't know if you understand what i mean😂 but in H2 if the solenoid worked the opposite way it needs a 12v signal for the airbags to work.
Thanks mate. Yeah I’ve changed editing software and I keep stuffing up the Colour settings it seems. On my computer it seems fine but then on tv it looks horrible
Great info Steve. I messaged you a few weeks ago as I’ve got the AAA kit with Ontrack auto level kit as well. You answered most of my questions but. 1. Do you have any gauges monitoring the bag pressure? 2. Is the Offroad mode kit available from Ontrack? Keep up the good work👍
Hey mate. Nah no gauge to see what the pressure is sitting at but that’s kinda irrelevant because the user can’t change it anyway. For the GVM upgrade it’s not allowed to have any external input. So no ports anyway to manually pump them up. And yes. Ontrack are doing it for ppl now. But I think it has to be done in house.
Another great video Steve. You have a style of presenting that is really easy and fun to watch. One thing you’re probably aware of, and this is purely constructive… treat yourself to a better lavalier mic. Yours is making your peaks all fuzzy… and no one wants fuzzy peaks! 🤪 Again, thanks for the great videos!
Hahaha. Thanks mate and yeah I absolutely agree. I need a few upgrades with some things and I’m working on it. But sadly it means I’m ganna have to start taking paid videos to help pay for some new gear. I just had to buy a new camera all together which was 5k.
Can`t you just add stronger springs instead of having to do all this like the 200 series? Not everybody could afford the money for this and surely this could break down in a isolated area.
You smoken something way too strong bro 😂. I mentioned what I paid for the kit in the video. As far as warranty with Nissan goes that’s between your dealer and you. My dealer will cover it as long as it’s not a direct aftermarket part that has caused the damage. Every dealer is different so I can’t say what your dealer will do sorry.
@@Australian4x4Adventures yeah you paid nothing as usual and tell people to go and ask for them selves when you know quite well what it costs ? As for warranty your dealer doesn’t determine warranty Nissan head office does and you have no hope of any warranty on your y62 .
So towing you 3t van you over weigh 😅 It's not the first... first of that combination sure... is even 4495 kits available with bag replacements... 4H is not off road only 🫣😆 it's any unsealed road. So that's clearly illegal if has to be "off road only" sure the kit could have a delay add to leveling....
I’ve never seen a coil delete kit over 4200gvm. It’s also the first kit with the 4200gvm on the bullet arms. I did state in the video there are others with bigger weights. So not hiding that. The engineers seemed to think that having it on the 4wd system was perfectly legal. And they are the ones that matter here. It wasn’t allowed to have user input for the height adjustment.
It’s true. I have sponsores that support what I do. Without them I wouldn’t be making anywhere near the content I already am because I’d be working a heap more. But any gear I take or use is 100% stuff I would of bought if I wasn’t doing what I do on TH-cam. I do understand it looks like I’m selling out and just after whatever is free but if you knew how much stuff I turned down you’d think otherwise. But thank you for your feedback

Thanks for the shoutout mate! Rapt to see the evolution has come to market successfully & you’re happy with it!!
Hey Steve. I literally just test drove my first Y62 5 hours ago. Lets just says its easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission. Its a white one. Can't wait.
Hahaha. That’s exactly right.
I’d rather drive the car I want and sleep on the couch over sleeping in the bed 😛

Love it mate. I think this setup for auto levelling is by far the bast and simplest solution.
Builds looking great mate.
I think so too. I’ve seen a few now and I still like this one.
And that’s. I’m happy with how it’s coming together

Will do ,thanks Steve
Camped across from you at merrington's this weekend. Love you videos. Keep it up!
Can't believe you didnt want to name drop old david dash blokes a legend
Hahaha. I’m mates with Dave and I didn’t wanna say anything wrong to upset him.

I’ve kept the twin compressor I had under the bonnet and moved it into my drawers for tyre inflation
Are you still running these Steve? Do you still recommend these?
AAA are about to include air tanks very shortly. Can you see a need for them and do you think they will help?
I’ve got a 4l air tank with mine and it definitely needs it.
It's needed 95% fully loaded I'm at 4.1t (non towing) with my 62 so looking at doing this kit in mine
Just ordered a 62 looks like this will be the kits for me

Good description of the system. Does the GVM upgrade have national recognition?
To be honest I’m not sure about different states. That’s probably a question to ask Andrew from ontrack.
FYI this is only certified in Vic post rego. Shame.
Loving the build on the rig, random question is the colour settings different on your videos?
Thanks mate.
Yeah I’ve changed editing software and I keep stuffing up the Colour settings it seems.

@@Australian4x4Adventures All good, i didn’t know if it was my eyes or if how it was suppose too be 😂😂
What is the compressed height of the suspension compared stock/springs?
And have they looked into roll over lip airbags compared to belows type?
With the 4.2 upgrade what is the max axle weights
Great video, Steve . Think I stick to my gu patrol. All the money to get your 4wd to where you want it, the cost is way out lot people price range.

Amazing video Steve. I love to see how far this kit has come since Rodney's first couple prototypes I designed
It’s come along way
@@Australian4x4Adventures it definitely has
Are the airbags cross linked? Would of thought that would of stoped most of the compressor usage
Nah they arnt allowed to be linked.
@@Australian4x4Adventures wtf land rover have had them like that forever, my first thought when I seen this was l322 range rover lol

Good stuff Steve & well explained. I’ve got over 30k on my coil delete kit with zero issues & perfect tyre wear.
Good stuff! I’m happy as with mine.
Nice Vid Steve... You almost had me buying a Y62 Patrol, ALMOST 🤣
Hahaha. One day 😝

Glad you enjoyed it
