This artist engraved his name in the minds of the public through the 2014 season of the singing audition program “K-pop Star," where he ended up becoming a semifinalist. In 2016, he officially made his debut and has been enriching listeners' souls with his soulful yet funky artistry since then. The artist has also been collaborating with various hot musicians of the time, including IU, Zico, Crush and more, expanding beyond his forte of ballads.

샘김은 2013년 오디션 프로그램에 출연해 강렬한 기타 실력과 특유의 그루브 있는 보컬로 색다른 매력을 발산하며 이름을 알렸다. 2016년 데뷔 앨범을 발표한 샘김은 알앤비, 소울 음악에 자신만의 해석을 더해 한층 성장한 모습을 보였고, 이를 통해 마니아층을 넓혀감은 물론 뮤지션들에게 주목받는 뮤지션으로 떠올랐다. 최근 아이유, 지코, 크러쉬 등 동시대의 실력 있는 뮤지션들에게 러브콜을 받고 협업하며 음악적인 영역을 확장하고 있는 샘김은 국내 가요계에 새로운 바람을 불러일으킬 인물로 손꼽히고 있다.
2019년 돌아온 첫 번째 [I'm Live]방송의 주인공인 샘김은 약 4개월 만에 재개된 녹화임에도 불구하고 공연장을 팬들로 가득 채우며 그 인기를 실감하게 만들었다. 데뷔곡인 'NO눈치'를 비롯해 특유의 그루브를 느낄 수 있는 'DANCE', 지난 해 발표한 첫 번째 정규앨범의 타이틀곡 'Make Up', 'It's You'와 수록곡 '그 여름밤'까지 콘서트장을 방불케 하는 라이브 음악으로 녹화 현장을 가득 채웠다는 후문이다.
