Life As An Astronaut On The International Space Station [4K] | Cosmic Encounters | Spark

  • “Cosmic Encounters” tells one of mankind’s oldest dreams: to explore what is beyond our planet. For the first time in TV history a documentary has been filmed in 3D in space by the astronauts of the International Space Station. It is a tribute to the many scientists who made the dream of conquering space come true. Our guides on this voyage are the astronauts André Kuipers, who filmed on board, and Alexander Gerst, whose demanding training for the 2014 mission is recorded at the Johnson Space Center.

    For me it is very moving that I can experience all this at my age (73) and be with Astronauts up in space and looking down to this beautiful planet earth ! I wish , every child could experience this and the wish to become an astronaut ! Thank you !

    "Our dream of conquering space has come true," is a stretch. We just kind of hang out in the fringe of space. Still shielded by our planet, never traveling any further.

      NASA lost it's way & it's purpose after the last moonlanding in 1972 and people had lost interest in going to the moon and turned their televisions off after the first moonlanding and only became interested again after the near disaster of Apollo-13 which resulted in budget cuts for The Apollo program with Apollo-18,19 & 20 being axed and so we have been stuck in Low Earth Orbit since the end of Apollo-17! However maybe there is hope now for manned exploration beyond Low Earth Orbit with the Artemis program and also with what Space-X is doing with Starship & Blue Origin and their plans for exploration and conquering space? I am going to Watch This Space (pun intended!) and see what happens from now on! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

    Born to late to explore this world and born to early to explore the next world. Hopefully my grandchildren or maybe even their grandchildren will get to explore the galaxy and maybe even the next planet we as a species call home. I really hope in my life time I get to witness what this galaxy has to offer and show us or even teach us about who and what we are. Hopefully in my lifetime I’ll get to walk on mars or the moon. I’d be happy with a few orbits of the earth. I really believe every human should get to orbit this earth a few times to show us just how precious life is and how war is just so ugly and irrelevant. How could you not see the earth from afar and just get humbled. Reality really sets in when you see your home from a distance to just show you how small you are and just how big life really is.

    I honestly could never go to space. Neil was the perfect man to be the first person to step foot on the moon. He didn’t let the celebrity go to his head and he stayed normal. Buzz I honestly don’t care so much for him the other guy that went with him should of been in Buzz’s spot. I feel like buzz let it go to his head. It’s gotta be crazy to go to the moon like what do you do after that? The next thing would be President or in congress. I am surprised NASA didn’t let them stay there after they came back it would of made sense to keep them around.

    • @neversaygoodluck
      @neversaygoodluck 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are no launches there. That being said every single Astronaut trains there today. It's far from just a museum. It's where mission control is located(they used to have full tours when you could see mission control and see where the astronauts train)

    what is sex like in space?

    • @ericgraham8150
      @ericgraham8150 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There have been various experiments actually trying to see how Sex could be done in space. Like using a rubber band like material to encircle two partners, among other devices. I remember watching a little short documentary that talked about sex in space. The conclusion of the Doc was, that - it certainly could be possible given human ingenuity - but that it's pretty impractical and as of this point, I don't think there is any evidence suggesting it's been actually attempted. :)
