    A little tip, dont use the cigarette lighter port, wire the positive to the battery and the negative to a ground on the car's frame.

    • @FoundWorthy
      @FoundWorthy  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Make sure to use an inline fuse if you go this route. However, the main point is portability-many people don’t want to install a radio or leave any trace after their trip. The era of permanently upgrading your car's radio or adding gauges like turbo or temperature gauges, as we used to do with Celicas and older cars, is largely over.
      Sure, some people still do this-Jeep owners, for instance-but modern off-road vehicles like Jeeps, Broncos, and similar “adventure-ready” cars now come with plug-and-play factory fuse boxes designed for that purpose.
      On the other hand, vehicles like my new Toyota Grand Highlander have interiors that are meticulously designed, seamless, and built to impress. For $55K, this car feels like a masterpiece, and there’s no way I’m drilling into it or installing a permanent radio. Most people who own these kinds of vehicles feel the same way-portability and preserving the pristine interior are the priorities.

    • @mrw1160
      @mrw1160 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Why?

    • @mrw1160
      @mrw1160 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@corndogmax the cigarette lighter port will absolutely cause you to get electrical noise feedback in the power line of your radio which makes reception much more limited, it also is restricts your output in wattage as it has wattage limitations to use the cigarette lighter port. The best situation is a stand alone battery for your radio which can be kept somewhere convenient without messing with your interior.

An amateur radio license does not give you the right to operate in the gmrs band. So basically he's promoting illegal equipment usage in a band that is not approved to be used in.
