DIY My First Lyre Harp

  • I had some spare Poplar Wood around the shop and decided to build my first small Harp Lyre with some info I found on the web.

    Nice work.
    But it is neither a lyre nor a harp. It is more a psaltery/ zither. But these terms are often used wrong.
    I took a look at the plan and was a little disappointed. The frame is to thick at the sides- 8 mm are ok, 5 mm would be better. With such a thick frame the instrument is heavier and you loose space for the sound. The bridge is- in my opinion- a little thick, too. A thinner bridge, may be with cutouts towards the soundboard, would improve the vibration of the soundboard and the sound.
    This is not your fault- how should you know that. But I wished tha plan would be better.

      I agree with you on the instrument build. and this instrument was made/sold originally from Musicmakers that no longer makes them.
