You guys are so spoiled with the weather. Here in The Yukon, I've been in my van down to -40. Right now I am spoiled though... Staying with my parents to do their shopping and errands, etc. they don't like having to go out when it's that cold anymore. I haven't watched your channel since last summer. i worked 2 fulltime jobs for about 5 months. I have a lot of catching up to do of my favorite fellow vanlifers! Keep it real, Chrome!! Take care my man!
I like that you have everything on one channel. The business is part of your progress and I find it all interesting. Always so good to see Emi too. ✌️✌️
That is what i have thought this entire time. I am a fan of how Chrome does his vanlife. Doing shop stuff is part of his vanlife. Must be the almighty algorithm youtubers have to pay attention to though.
Amanda goes above and beyond! What an asset to you chrome ❤❤ thanks for getting my orders out right away in the past … and letting me know you got the notes with the orders … take care Amanda… chrome and emmi and all the folks in the comments ✌️✌️
Hey Chrome, not sure if you see my comment the other day, seal up the white exterior trim clips on the sprinter that show on the inside of the van near the floor, they let water in, seal them before insulating that part.
Hey Chrome, I’m not sure if you know about it, but they actually make diesel/gas heaters that circulate anti-freeze coolant that can circulate through radiant floors. You can also hook it into your engine bay so while you’re heating your van, you’re heating your block, making it easy to start even in the coldest weather.
What is happening with the Ambo in future while you buildout your new home? 🤔☺️ Take care Chrome & take time with no unnecessary stress! 😍🐶 Amanda you are a treasure I hope you are paid what you are worth? 😍
We went with the radiant heated floor and love it, great to wake up and have a nice warm floor, plus the cats love it. Either of the two major "premade" kits make it relatively easy to install. A map of the tubing with tape where cabinets, etc go keeps us from making mistakes that would cause a mess. We filled our system with propylene glycol which won't hurt animals like regular ethylene glycol antifreeze will.
We see how busy Amanda is. You need a shop person so you can attempt to work on that van. I can't see it being ready for summer at this rate. Remember the saying about being a business owner, don't work for your business, work on your business.
I've been looking at vans everyday and following you and Emily for years now. I love seeing her in your space. It's a good day to have a good day. I'm owtriding...
Hey chrome I love it. The new van with insulation and sound deadening is coming along. That’s so nice that Emi came to help. And you are blessed to have Amanda working for you. Thanks for sharing. You guys always make my day. Be safe out there.🇺🇸♥️🙂👍🙏🐾🚐🏔️🇨🇦
Hey Chrome, I'm very interested in the shop van. I'm in Nanaimo, but happy to meet you at Parksville Timmies to discuss any day/time that works for you. Thanks bro. Cheers!
Once the new van is done the old one is Chrome's vacation home in the mountains/by the lake/in the woods/where ever he wants. Sweet way to do van life!
Thank you Chrome. I have a sticks and bricks in SoCal,,,,but travel North America in my van. I’ve been home for more than a month now and this video reminded me of what I love so much about being on the road. Waking up in freezing cold temps is strangely enough exciting for me.
You should definitely have some sort of heated floor. If not for you do it for Cruise! I have a lazy boy chair and a heating pad in my van for my little dog. He loves it!
Hey chrome that's awesome that your van has that quick disconnect.i can't wait till you get the van done it will be fantastic. congrats on the new van as well.
Definitely heat your floors. This van should have all the perks possible. When we go out in the winter and it’s freezing we need warmth. Really can’t wait.
Be patient! Ive been homeless for 5 years and im excited to get my first van whenever that happens (hopefully by the end of the year) but i know ive gotta work hard to get there and that's all coming to a head soon!
Another tip on the Sprinter, the battery is inside underneath the drivers seat but if you ever have to jumpstart there is a special connection under the hood so you don`t have to open up the floor of the van.
Most boats have heating with hot water.all through their boats. You can then run some tubing through your lockers to keep you clothes warm. Hot water heating also takes up less room. No hot air ducts but one small tube. Since your are going to heat the van it makes more sense to have warm floors and cupboards too. Cheers
Aye, I had to put the battery disconnect switch on my rig, they're about 18 bucks at the auto parts store, it's a knife switch, and yes comes in soo handy for alot of things.
Hey Chrome Just a thought instead of you cutting out the windows on Big Blue, have a mobile welder/plasma person cut them using a plasma torch. I think it will result in a smoother and cleaner finish. Just a thought 😁
Not a good idea, using a plasma cutter on a painted surface like a body panel isn’t good if you actually want to keep the panel. Then he’d still have to come back with a grinder to clean the edges up, just easier to cut it out a multitude of other ways
For your Floor go buy the pink foam 150lbs/sq inch. Double layer that on the floor, for R10 floor and it's meant to be walked on, I used the chuck Cassidy method
I love how you let everybody know what’s going on and also I appreciate putting your beautiful dog on your channel because he’s a big part of your channel. Not just the van builds but just in everyday life we need that comfort😊
Its about $2.25 ish for a large at tim hortons. Cheaper in the van, maybe, but would take longer to boil water etc and since he was away from the shop already, why not?
I have a gold zero from REI. It has a 700 W battery that charges from your lighter in two hours. It’s a lightning charge and it is awesome. I’m really glad I don’t have a jack if you saw this thing you’d want you’d wanna sell them anyway I just wanted to share that with you
I recommend you do sound-deadening, duck liner, and insulation above the headliner. Also, on my Sprinter, I stuffed Havelock Wool in all the small structural cavities.
Hey just a thought but keeping the diesel would also give customer the experience of waiting for engine to warm up. Which could help them to decide if they would like one.
Hi Chrome, I'll say it again, I love your videos, love just hanging out with you. And of course, I LOVE seeing Emi in your videos! Just saying I'm on needles and pins waiting for your new home to be done! whoohoo!
Hey Chrome I’ve been a subscriber for a long time now and I just realized I have never told you that Coleman makes a drip coffee pot that runs on the little green propane bottle and I have had 1 for years now and I love it for camping, check it out bro 👍🏻
Yep i understand I for one don't have a problem at all been following him fir a few years now n love what he does. Thanks Amanda ur doing a great job as always. Keep up the great work ❤
love love watching the build, I would absolutely heat the floor, even if you don't use it a lot you have that option and now is the best time to do it hehe
As somebody who grew up in an automotive repair and Motorsport shop; I can’t tell you mechanics and shop owners vehicles are always the last to be finished if at all. My dad had a vehicle in his shop that was literally his dream car and it only needed some minor mechanical work and yet it’s sat in the driveway than the back of shop for 25 years until I passed away. Having a few extra hands around the shop, even if they are novices that are willing to learn things would help to alleviate the load on you.
Hey, I have the same pre fused/wired light switch panel and cannot figure out exactly what I need to wire up my 12 volt items fan etc. Could you show what you did behind the panel?

Love your new van! Can't wait to see you build it out. Have you considered a solar powered trickle charger?
Billy Mays is smiling at your infomercial skills.
@@timsforcoffee hahaha, I thought of him too!
Now with the Sprinter maybe it is time to sell the “Ambo” and let someone else make a home out of it.

Next video the new van gets towed in for a no start condition because he forgot about the disconnect.
Hey Chrome and Cruz and Emi and Kelly.. and Amanda

This van build will be awesome excited to watch it unfold
Do not let a diesel sit to warm up, drive it.
Do infloor radiant heating…….its awesome!!!!

Hi Chrome. Loving the new shop and van build. Love seeing Emi around also. Hi to Cruzie and Amanda 👋🏻

It’s so dang cold out! Things are looking great! Have a great day Chrome
Don’t do the electric floor heating, had it in my Hobby a german made caravan, it’s was not warm enough below 0 celsius.
Go with the radiant one
I would be interested in the shop van and shipping it back to the UK, to join my other one.
Insulation lookin good
You've got to get those customer installs going! That'll contribute to the Van Build Fund!
They have already started :)
No more drive thrus for coffee with the new van. At least from experience.
Good morning chrome and Cruz Joe here from Portland Oregon

I hardly call frosted windows and no snow WINTER Chrome, that's early fall or late spring to us hardier, colder region Canadians 😅 .

Can't wait to see what you do with the floor!! V V
Floor heating is a winner for help heating! Recommend by me to You Sir Chrome! Peter in Sweden Europe 😊😊😊!
Hey chrome I'll buy the diesel shop van!
Great job great progress. Take a breather😄😄😄
we are considering a Roadtrek Van/RV. Not sure what size yet but thinking the 210 popular :)
I'm loving the build so far, Chrome. And it's information that could be used on any new van build. I can't wait to see the progression of this build.
It looks colder there then here 😂
@ 8:16 you're drinkin' the Bubly !? I had to Switch to Bubly Myself & maybe for the same reasons ?
Why do you go to a restaurant to get coffee? Is a coffeemachine in your shop or van not better, quicker and cheaper :)
Its about $2.25 ish for a large at tim hortons. Cheaper in the van, maybe, but would take longer to boil water etc and since he was away from the shop already, why not?
Cork makes awesome flooring.
Oh I see you and Emi and I smile ❤❤
How do you access the upper level with a forklift? Looks like the rack is in front of the door at the loading area?
Fork extenders :)
You'll be happy with heated floors, it's so worth it.
Curious, why didn't run your wire before doing the insulation/soundproofing? But very cool, it's starting to come together.
maybe easier to get to if something goes wrong, be such a pain taking off insulation and soundproofing aye
@ yeah I did think of that too.
Cork flooring is amazing.

Good afternoon from southeast Florida. Back into the 70s we are. We got down to 45 at one point. No snow this far south.
Are you going to use spray foam behind the ribs where you can not reach with that insulation?
Before you know it the van will be done can't wait to see the finished product
The ice in the inside of the ambulance looked like graffiti. Was a cool pattern. I love the artistry of nature. Take care.
