It’s very rare for a rookie to have such a great first season and make such a leap in the second season, bro shooting like curry with embiid like post presence
Fr the ones who start like he did either burn n crash or they progress much slower than he has. I think Wemby also has the mindset and work ethic and it's evident listening to some of his interviews. He's got a mindset and discipline that sets him apart from most the younger players
Right now Wemby can't consistently play in the post, but he is working on mid post and long range shots because as he is young and its a worthwhile investment. Once he grows into his body at age 25-28, then he could do both super efficiently
Tonight he again put the go ahead dagger 3 at the Pelicans. Scored the Spurs last 7pts to secure the win. And yes Stephon Castle is coming for that ROTY award. And 2x Yes on Tim Duncan teaching him the bank shot.
Wemby is so good that Im starting to think the Spurs should tank end of year. The second year leap has made him so much closer to being the complete player, and he keeps getting better throughout the season, like he did last year. He makes an upgraded spurs that much better, maybe with that one extra top draft talent the spurs can complete project duncan ginobili manu 2.0
Even if Wemby's offensive ceiling is closer to Porzingis, I think that's already enough for him to become the most impactful player of all time. His multitude of disparate skillsets is more reminiscent of Shohei Ohtani than LeBron or MJ
@@2ClutchCorey with his length and quickness he can do things no other defensive player in the history of the game could do. Like his man will blow by him towards the basket and he’ll just leap and spin and pin their attempt to the backboard.
Wendy just needs the dirk nowitzki fade with a Kevin Durant 1 dribble pull up around the elbows when facing up. League has no answer when he figueres this out.
thats what I've been saying. let him develop 3's because most clutch shots are 3s. afterwards we can get a 3pt specialist but I'd put my money on wemby taking the last 3pts on a game than that specialist.
Mick, you are gonna be sad when Wemby starts getting rings….. the spurs have been VERY smart, they know about the second apron and this core is going to be awesome and last! MJ, Wemby is coming for your lunch money!

We want him to have a long career . Those long legs in the paint wouldn’t last long. Let him play passive aggressively from the 3point line which 2steps no dribble to the hoop still… he’s gonna be the goat if he keeps this pace
Idc what yall say. I will always be happy with him shooting 3’s that’s not what will make him special. Him dominating from the post first is what makes him unstoppable offensively. Dirk had to learn that lesson from 2007🤷🏾♂️
@@kingspeech2240 What are you talking about? Wemby is unlike any player in NBA History. Wemby should be Wemby. He's so tall even if he's at the 3 point line he's always 2 steps away from the basket. I've seen him have great games inside and out, Wemby should be developed as a 3 level scorer not just one like Giannas or Shaq.
Statically, yea but nba has changed, and defense, is soft in this era, plus their few dominant big men, espicially, defensively, so everybody need stop hypying, these nba players up.
It is so stupid to talk about standings and the play-in with 3-4 months left in the season. Also if I am the Spurs opps, I am cool with Wemby shooting 13-14 3s at 34%. He will be really dangerous when he is taking 13-16 shots at 70% in the paint and post and then steps out 5 or 6 times a game for 3. As a 7'6" monster in the post he would force the defense to either double where he can unlock his teammates or eating them alive when single covered. Because when he has 1-9 nights from 3, he is letting the defense off the hook.
Dolt comment. Wemby is averaging 27ppg 11rebs 5assists 3blks in his last 11 games on 50/85/40 splits Yeah, Wemby is shooting 40% from 3 in his last 11 games. WEMBYs ability to knock down 3's is devastating with a player his size by forcing the opposing center out of the paint and providing easy layups for his teammates.
With his frail frame, playing now in the paint would mean a 4 seasons career... like most 7'2+ guys before him. Spurs coaches don't ask him to do that and they know why. He will play post game when he will be 25 and more bulked. Now he plays D in the paint and O at the perimeter, even if not everytime. Those who want a tree in the paint can take Rudy.
Wemby is attempting three times as many threes as Durant did. After a shaky start, he's hit 47 of his last 118 attempts (41%). That's among the reasons his overall efficiency is above Durant's as a sophomore
@siphillis He's shooting more 3s than Durant because Wemby has worse shot selection. Quanity is not an excuse for reduced efficiency. Shooters have hot and cold streaks. He had streaks of shooting 40% last season and ended up shooting 33% the whole season. It's silly to point to a hot or cold streak and call it the new norm. In fact, if you look at his splits from Europe, last season, and this season, there is little proof he's improved as a 3 pt shooter at all.
@@styeiwehdeisfdowell he’s on one long streak. And until he goes cold I’m gonna assume this is his new normal based off how fast he’s improved with everything else.
@lilolittle3131 10 games is not long. KAT was shooting like 60% from 3 over 10 games early in the season. Now, he's shooting 38% over the last 10 and is down to 45% for the season. I bet when all is said and done, KAT will be shooting around 40% by seasons end to match his career splits. That's how it goes.
He is most definitely not shooting threes very well. If he used his size on offense more, he'd be scoring more and the Spurs would probably have three more wins.
