He can do many genres and he loves mixing them but his favourite is rock.
This song is a Jay Chou(famous Taiwanese singer-songwriter) original. It's essentially a rap song. Hua
(in this competition Singer 2018 which overall Jessie J won and Hua came in second, everyone was only allowed to do mostly covers. They were only allowed to do 2 of their own originals. Hua sang Qi Tian(Equal to Heaven ) which was the first song he sang when he entered this competition on the 4th episode and he won for this episode)
rearranged and made it his own though he retained the original. One can tell it's still a Jay Chou song but different, many said even better than the original. Hua is very good at rearranging the original scores as demonstrated in The Next Show.

I really love your reaction, not just because I am a big fan of HUa Chenyu and you praised his performance a lot 😂 but because you seemed to understand that he thrives on music! He is a singer, however, he is first and foremost a musician. Music is truly how he expresses himself. Love his voice and his original songs and rearrangements of other artists' songs. He is an amazing singer, rapper and composer. From composing and arranging to his vocals and every aspect of communicating each song and it's meaning (often deep, being Chinese), always with appropriate energy and emotion. He is far more versatile than even the range on display in this one song. At least half a dozen songs are needed just to begin to get his true range. His name is said in this order Hua Chenyu (Chinese names traditionally have surnames preceding given names). Your pronunciation is not too bad. Just say who and ah quickly for Hua. The u is not like the name Hugh. The u in Hua sounds more like double o as in hoop.
Yes, he is fundamentally a rocker and identifies as a rocker. This song was originally sung and composed by a Taiwanese singer Jay Chou which is equally good and Hua Hua rearranged it to a totally different song haha. You may check the original out to see the full extent of Hua’s rearrangement.

But, maybe it would be more fun to do the singer series 2018 where he wins first runner up after Jesse J. The Singer show 2020 he wins and man, each song is beyond brilliant.
