  • If you are short on grass or space this is a great and easy idea to give your pup an oasis to go to the toilet at home.
    Details for the build:
    I cut all the wood up to fit the peg board in the centre. I then made rails at four different places across the frame to support the peg board and the weight of my pup. These support beams needed to have the recesses cut in to account for the edge of the peg board.
    Pre drill all your holes with a small drill bit to ensure you get smooth screw placement when putting it all together.
    Parts used for the build:
    Grass is supplied by fresh Patch - www.freshpatch.com.au/collect...
    Peg board 1820x 540mm -
    amzn.to/3vtiX6y
    Treated pine - www.bunnings.com.au/treated-p...
    Galvanised countersunk rib head timber screws -
    amzn.to/3NY8feM
    I cut all the pieces up on my Makita Compound Mitre saw - amzn.to/3O5Wkvt
    My drills are AEG cordless (Highly recommend having two drills to prevent constantly changing over drill bits) - amzn.to/48tUBs7
    Inspiration for the build is from Caleb @Caleb's shop in the US - • Dog Porch Potty Build ...

    Great idea! I’m in the process of doing this myself for new pup arriving soon. Did you get fresh patch grass as it’s easier? I was thinking of using Bunnings grass and replacing weekly as it seems cheaper

      The fresh patch is easy as it arrives at our door. It is also made with a better base so that it lasts longer than normal bunnings grass rolls. Bunnings do sell a really realistic fake grass that would drain the same however doesn't smell like grass for your pup.

    you didn't discuss drainage? Does it just drain onto your patio and down the drain you had there? I guess this only works if you have the proper angle to your patio/terrace so that all liquid will always go toward the drain. ??

      It runs down to the drain. Due to the floor being designed so rain runs into the drain it works nicely. I also have a hose nearby to give it a rinse every now and then.

    Hey mate great idea, just wondering how long the grass lasted?

    • @DIYStaffy
      @DIYStaffy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The grass lasts 2 weeks in summer and about 3 weeks in winter... depending how much your pup uses it as well.

    No slope? How long does the pegboard last with strong urine hitting it daily???

    • @DIYStaffy
      @DIYStaffy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Using the wood edges I have a very slight slope however the ground it is on naturally slopes to a drain which helps.
      It’s been 18 months and while some rust is on the holes we drilled into the peg board to make extra drain holes the rest is strong as anything. Hope that helps!

    Could I just sit the grass on top of the peg board without a wooden frame?

    • @DIYStaffy
      @DIYStaffy  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think that would work. Even if you just put a few pieces of wood or a few bricks under to keep it off the ground a little for drainage. Rather than build a whole frame.

    Has this lasted as an option?

    • @DIYStaffy
      @DIYStaffy  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      A year on and it’s still great! We replace the grass every few weeks and give it a rinse.
