  • The Simucube Active Pedal Ultimate is a true shape shifter. It can be any pedal you can think of. Stiff, Soft, long or short throw, progressive, linear, degressive, with bumps, dampened, or just a Logitech G923 - there are virtually no limitations.

    Simracing is difficult. Learning how to drive fast takes time, dedication and persistence. Assetto Corsa Competizione is one of the best simulations with highly sensitive aerodynamics that want to be respected. Telemetry, such as motec helps with analyzing car behavior and finding major issues in the car setup or driving style. Special sim racing hardware also helps with becoming better, but certainly is not the solution to your problems. Load cell pedals offer better feel. Stronger but most importantly more detailed force feedback of e.g. direct drive wheels offer more immersive sensations. Though I know and I've seen throughout the years, people with entry level hardware perform on top level.

    I´ve watched several reviews. This one is great. One factor that no one mentioned is that there is no maintenance. No oiling. No dissembling and cleaning the parts etc.
    Also what I missed in all reviews was how the ingame calibration works? For example if I load a F1 pedal profile, do I have to calibrate the pedal ingame again each time I change the profile? Or how does that work? Or do you not have to do anything ingame and the Simucube software does it all?

    • @SimracingPopometer
      @SimracingPopometer  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I'll have to actually check that. because so far I calibrated once and even when I forgot to change my profile I just drove.
      had a team mate over yesterday and he was like "you can do what??".

    This was such a good review again.
    The one thing I would've liked to see / hear is a sample of the noise the pedal makes. I wonder if the noise comes more from the rattling against the rig or actually from the motor inside the pedal.

    • @SimracingPopometer
      @SimracingPopometer  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Depending on intensity it is coming from the motor. but of course your rig will add to it, no matter how rigid you built it. if you don't go too high with the intensity though, you can remove almost all noise from it and the wheel base will remain the loudest device on the rig

    I wonder if the motor does not push against the load cell. So where it is pushing back at you with ABS, it's not actually pushing the brake harder. Where the brake trace varies is because your foot has damped it I guess. That was a big concern I had, so thanks for highlighting it in telemetry. Though actually saying that is like me picking up on a small detail on a Rolls Royce when I can only afford a bicycle ha. But interesting to know for when DD pedals become accessible in the same way that DD wheels have.

    • @SimracingPopometer
      @SimracingPopometer  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      looking at the construction, it definitely does push against the load cell, but since they know the exact torque they are sending through it should be possible to account for that. And in the video I also went to extreme values with the vibration, so anyone with somewhat sane settings shouldnt see the ABS pattern in the data much if at all

    Thanks for the review and all the informations shared! In a world where money doesn't matter, would you have a second active pedal to use as a gas pedal? or you say its overkill?

    • @SimracingPopometer
      @SimracingPopometer  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I have never thought of the throttle pedal as a particular area of concern. anything that moves with a constant resistance without sudden friction in between does the job imo. So indeed I would say it's overkill.

    Even though you mentioned it, I still want to know how much power does it actually use. Not because I'm so concerned about a power bill, but just a curiosity. No reviewer has provided this info. If you have a Power (Watt) Meter, can you check it? A reading when the motor is fully stressed?
    [edit] I heard/read from some users that you feel the motorized nature of the pedal, but you get used to it. After a while, if you try "normal" loadcell pedals, you remember how "smooth" they are. Any thoughts about this?

    • @SimracingPopometer
      @SimracingPopometer  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      only if you have low kg and long travel you might get the motors basic resistance. 0 noticable on my particular settings, with rather high kg and little travel

      Danny Suzuki measured it in his German review. Its 18 Watts in standby if I remember correctly and somewhat 70-80 watts at full pressure of gas and brake (he has both as active pedal) at the same time.

      depends where you are coming from hardware wise. and if you'll actually use all the options it has. I probably use less of what they can do. I'm not confused from changing the person constantly, but it's sure a great option if you do. or if more people use the rig for example
