This is the best size overview I've seen. I recently discovered the world or traveler's notebooks, and I have been struggling with all the different sizes. You took all the disjointed information and turned it into a cohesive presentation. Thank you!!
Thank you, Pho, I’m so glad it was helpful! Starting out with TNs can be both exciting and overwhelming so it was my goal to make it easier for others than it was for me. Good luck finding the perfect TN to fit your needs and thanks again for watching! 😊📚👍
Wow!!!! A video that ACTUALLY shows a good comparison!!! This video alone helped me choose what size to get!! Can't believe it doesn't have more 👍! Thank you so much for sharing! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I hope that you give presentations for a living because someone really should be paying you for it. You did an exceedingly excellent job of breaking down a confusing topic and making it very simple. You did a much better job than the Chic Sparrow lady and she makes the notebooks! Thank you.
This is the most informative and helpful video I have seen regarding TN! I was overwhelmed trying to decide what to purchase for my first TN but your video helped me decide which size to purchase and answered all of my questions. Thanks for your attention to detail and making this so much easier for me. Subscribed!!!!!!!
Thank you and I'm so glad it helped! I was also very overwhelmed at the beginning and wanted to make it easier for those just starting out. Thanks for watching and subscribing! ☺️❤️
Having spent ages trying to decide which size to buy, I'm new to Travellers journals. After watching your video, I was able to finally make my choose and place my order.
I can't believe how helpful this video would have been to me in the fall when I began this bullet journal TN cover journey. Such a detailed and informative video. You hit it out of the park with what makes all the differences in the size choices. Wonderful. Anyone starting out has to watch this, it will help so much with the confusion of all the options. Thanks so much for posting this! You are great at this!
Thanks Jessica! I'm so glad you found it helpful--I also struggled in the beginning so I made this video to make it easier for others. Thanks for watching! 😊
Thanks for demystifying the sizing of travel notebooks. I have seen craft tutorials that don't mention which inserts fit the size of the notebook cover being made. This helps so much.
This was fantastic. New to the planner community and I have 3 TNs and to not know what I would do without them!!! I have seen and fell in love with your beautiful collection. #trippedAndLovingTheseWaters
This was an excellent video!! 💯🙌🏾 I am clearly late in discovering travelers notebooks. I would see coworkers with them a few years ago, but they’ve always been early adopters and ahead of the curve on trends. So I never thought TNs were for me. But all along I’ve had several different journals and notebooks, but never in the same book or cover! Lol! But your video was so clear and basic and it was full of knowledge! Thank you for taking the time to do this! It really helped me decide how to choose the size I want!! ☺️
Welcome to the travelers notebook community, Laronica! I’m so glad you found my video helpful-it was my goal to demystify this wonderful system (I found it intimidating in the beginning). Enjoy your TN in the New Year and thanks again for watching! 📚😊
this is an AMAZING video with top notch comparison and info that is actually useful. amazing video for tn newbies such as myself, i cant tell you how grateful i am for this! 🙋🏻♀️
Thank you, Su, I’m so glad it was helpful! 😊 I remember how overwhelming it was in the beginning for me so I wanted to make it easier for others. Hope you find a cover and size that works for you! 📚👍
Thank you for this video. I brought my first TN on Amazon & it the standard size but not a midori. Since learning more about TN, I decided to invest in a prettier, more expensive one. I have been looking at videos & pics online. This video was the perfect comparison. I think the A6 is the perfect one for me. I’m giving my grandmother my original one & definitely getting the A6.
I'm glad you found it helpful and congratulations on finding a size that'll work for you! That's half the battle and why I made this video. Some just need to find their 'sweet spot' while others--like me--end up with different sizes anyway and just end up using them for different purposes. 😉 Enjoy your new investment TN and thanks again for watching! 😊📚
You’re welcome, Julia! Currently I’m using an A6 size since not much is going on personally-work, on the other hand, is another matter (I’m using MS OneNote to try and keep up!). HTH and thanks for watching! 📚
For “traveler” notebook I personally like the ones with zippers so I don’t lose something and having pockets to put stuff like passport. I went to Europe last year I had to carry bunch of papers/tickets. But now I have options to mingle all of them
Hi Becca! I also love having lots of pockets-I wish there were more makers that made them with zippers so if you have any recommendations, please share! Thanks for watching. 😊📚
Awe, thank you Mariebella! This was part of a ‘TN series’ so check out the other videos-if you haven’t already-for more information. Thanks again for watching! 😊📚
Your video is awesome thank you for the great information. In the video what is the name and style of personal size tn .what is the maker and leather type of the b6 slim ivory.
Thanks Sharon! The all ivory one is actually a B6 size made by Foxy Fix in the Boss Babe leather in the color Moonlit. The B6 Slim is a Sojourner in the Tola (burgundy) leather with the Natural ‘scoop’ front pocket. HTH and thanks for watching! 😊
Hi there! The maker of the 2-inch reinforced spine is Speckled Fawns-I have several covers from her (so far 6! 🙊) and love them all; check her out on Instagram and website. HTH!
Hello wonderful video. There is a Travelers Notebook on the front of your computer during the introduction and I cannot find that anywhere could you please send me the information on that particular planner that's laying on top of your laptop on your introduction
Glad you enjoyed the video! The planner in my intro is my favorite ring planner. It's a custom ring planner made by Van der Spek (they're located in the Netherlands) in the 'Standard' size (that's what they call the Filofax personal size equivalent) with Burgundy leather on the outside and Toronne (beige) leather on the inside. HTH!
Lil Divette Thanks again for answering all of my inquiries. that the beautiful leather planners and I just wondering where you get purchased it. I will take a look at them hopefully I can get it without rings to fix my B 6. It looks like a really soft leather at the Travon at work or something like that type of leather
Wonderful video. I got a "good enough for now" standard size tn, but didn't like it. Too narrow. This video confirmed that an A5 size is the smallest one I would be comfortable with. Might even also like a composition one. Thanks again for a thoughtfully presented video.
Thank you! 😊 I did the same in the beginning and there are definitely some sizes that I tried and didn’t work for me. The composition is great if you’re a student or a note-taker and A5 is my “go to” for my work bullet journal. Glad the video helped and thanks again for watching!
Excellent informational video. Very thorough and thoughtful. I’ve been looking to see if you mentioned what your extra wide TN was and can’t find it. Is it a Chic Sparrow Creme?
+Erin Feinstein Hi Erin! The caramel-colored TN is a FoxyFix Wanderlust in Butterscotch purchased back when they used to sell on Etsy; I believe they still sell this leather and hopefully it's the same. Chic Sparrow's Creme Brûlée is very similar (I have it in a pocket size). The nude-colored wrap-around extra wide TN is a LeatherQuillShoppe Distressed Trifold in Birthday Suit which I believe they also still carry. HTH!
Lil Divette Really?! I have the same thing but I like the way your’s looks more than mine. Too funny! 😆 I’m sure I need to account for different leather batches and color differences caused by the computer moniter. Mine also has brown matching stitching and elastic instead of contrasting. It’s amazing what a few changes do to our perception.
Glad you liked it! I mentioned Midori because they are the original creator of the travelers notebook but I did link some of the TN makers in the description box; if you’d like to know who made a specific TN, just let me know which one (size, color, or minute mark). HTH and thanks for watching! 📚😊
Can you do the larger sizes like b6 vs a4 and letter size? This chick on Etsy does such amazing work and I'm contemplating on which of those sizes I should get because it's quite expensive. It will be for sketchbooks, coloring books, and notebooks.
Hi Sharolynne! My video did include B6 and B6 Slim sizes-did you mean to say B5? (I believe that’s a larger B size). The largest TN I own is a Composition size TN cover (also did a video on that) but not letter size or A4 because I don’t own any covers that size. My recommendation when considering a new size is to make a ‘mock’ cover out of card stock or fabric, make holes for a 2 strings then use it for a while to see if it feels comfortable or bulky/heavy. If looks like it would work, start with an inexpensive cover (check Amazon, a hobby/art store or Etsy) and, if it’s exactly what you want/need, then invest in a nice cover. HTH and thanks again for watching! 😊📚
Awe, thank you! 😊 Glad it helped. I love doing videos it's just a challenge sometimes finding the time with 'life' happening. Definitely looking forward to filming more. Thanks for watching!
This video is so good. Thanks for sharing! Just wondering, who makes the purplish textured pocket size cover? It’s beautiful! I checked the links in description but cudnt find it x
Thanks Claire, glad you found it helpful! The purple pocket cover is a Chic Sparrow Pemberly in Aubergine-not sure if they still carry it but they usually have similar leather options. HTH and thanks for watching! 😊🎥📚
Hi Naomi, I didn’t include cover dimensions because they differ by TN maker, the options you choose, and sometimes within a TN maker’s own line even though they’re for the same size insert. If I ever do ‘TN maker spotlight’, I’ll share their cover dimensions assuming it’s still available (sometimes a TN will be limited edition or retired). Thanks for watching! 📚😊
If you’re referring to a ring binder insert, it would be tricky. A6 is wider (4”) and shorter (6”) than a personal size insert which is narrower (3.75”) and taller (6.75”) so if a shorter page doesn’t bother you AND you can cut off .25” to make it narrower without affecting a preprinted layout, you can make it work. If you’re referring to a travelers notebook booklet that hangs off strings, it will depend on the cover. Some TN makers cut them wider so you have room for divider tabs or chunkier notebooks without any overhang. I’ve carried an A6 Hobonichi in a Chic Sparrow personal size cover without a problem because they cut the covers wider (check out my “Art Journal Travelers Notebook - Chic Sparrow Sidekick” video for more info). HTH! 😊
It depends on your needs but I haven’t seen a lot of makers make B5-B6 is more popular (B5 is twice the size of a B6 and bigger than A5 but smaller than A4). If you’re still curious, I recommend getting a cheap B5 notebook to see if you like it enough to invest in a TN cover. HTH and thanks for watching! 😊📚

Check my feed for ‘Where to find books for your travelers notebooks’ which addresses that very problem. 😊 Like you, I discovered that it was a struggle easily finding books for my favorite sizes but then I stumbled on the ultimate trick for solving this problem-also mentioned in the video. 😉 Hope you find it helpful and thanks for watching!
@@LilDivette Thank you for the reply. Yeah, it is very frustrating to find inserts. And finding them is a fortune. Will A6 insert fit in a personal size?
If you’re referring to a ring binder insert, it would be tricky. A6 is wider (4”) and shorter (6”) than a personal size insert which is narrower (3.75”) and taller (6.75”) so if a shorter page doesn’t bother you AND you can cut off .25” to make it narrower without affecting a preprinted layout, you can make it work. If you’re referring to a travelers notebook booklet that hangs off strings, it will depend on the cover. Would a B5 size be useful?
It depends on your needs but I haven’t seen a lot of makers make B5-B6 is more popular (B5 is twice the size of a B6 and bigger than A5 but smaller than A4).
